Trauma & Resilience: A Handbook

Are you looking for resources to come alongside people who are suffering
as they serve God? This book brings together theological perspectives;
personal stories; and spiritual, psychological, community, and medical
resources. It is research-based and at the same time practical. This is
a handbook for church and mission leaders, peer supporters, counselors,
those in personnel and member care roles, as well as those who suffer. It is also an excellent resource for training courses about this topic.

Fantastic resources, many good thoughts and very helpful varied stories and examples for application. I also love how it can both be a resource for walking through one’s own pain as well as being a caregiver to another.
My only complaint is it was often very repetitive in its main points, but I suppose they did say at the start that this is meant to be a book you can start reading at any point inside. I read it through from front to back, though, so by Chapter 6 I was skipping whole pages sometimes of the same material from previous chapters.
Still, super helpful and informative. I will be taking with me to Romania to use as continued reference.

This book is especially good for missionaries, but I regularly recommend it to anyone in a ministry field of any sort. The stories and insight remind us that God does beautiful work in our brokenness and this broken world.

Very informative book. The content was very good, but I found the writing a little dry and had to work hard to get through it. It took me quite a long time to read it, but it was worth it. Also, since the content is so helpful, this book makes an excellent reference book for trauma and resilience.
