I’ve always been the good girl. The one who put her family above all else. But now my family is gone, and I’m alone. Penniless and on the verge of utter ruin, I make a reckless choice and decide to hand my fate over to an agency known as Wife for Hire.
It’s not like marrying a stranger can make my life any worse, right?
Wrong.
Because the man waiting for me at the end of the aisle is Warwick Forrester–the man who took everything from my family.
But the more I’m with Wick, the less he seems like a monster. He’s kind, caring, and more than a little obsessed with me in all the right ways.
Maybe this man isn’t my ruin. Maybe he’s my salvation.
I absolutely loved this story. Wick and Sia got married because of a contract, but it goes so much deeper than that. Seeing the affection Wick had for Sia from the start showed that there was much more than meets the eye.
The representation shown in this novella of both OCD and severe anxiety was also incredibly well done. Having struggled with anxiety and panic attacks since I was a young child made me feel seen having the FMC in this still coping with her own.
I don’t want to spoil anything for the readers to come, but this is a really heartwarming story that has its own trials to go through to get to the HEA, but well worth it in my opinion. The understanding of the two MC’s with one another and their faults and struggles independently and with each other was beautiful to see, no third act breakup necessary here.
✨I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.✨
Normally, I'm not a big fan of novellas because I'm always left wanting more or that the story felt rushed. This, however, was simply delicious. Would I have liked more? Yes. But the story we are given with Warick and Alessia was superb! The story jumps right in with a desperate Sia visiting with her lawyer selling off her remaining family's assets to pay for the debt she was left in from her grandparents passing. With the scare of losing the ultimate family legacy of her mother's charity, Sia has the opportunity to get her trust fund - if she gets married. After being given the option for applying in a program: Wife For Hire, and feeling like it's the best option to get her needed funds, Sia moves forward with marrying a stranger. However, the groom at the end of the aisle isn't a stranger. He's the man who bought up all her grandfather's businesses, taking everything that was originally her family's and hers. She initially plans to enter this marriage ruining Warick's life the way he did hers, but... turns out he's not the villian she originally thought, but possibly the man meant for her? Again, I would have love more of Wick and Sia! This was a wonderful little story and had me giddy with how adorable they were. But, for a novella, it wasn't rushed. It had enough to fill me and didn't leave me wanting, desperate for more.
If you want a quick and spicy romance this is for you! Enemies to lovers, billionaire, fake marriage? These all check all of my boxes. The story gives you more depth than expected in a novella and I felt connected to Sia and Wick instantly. I wish it was a big ol’ long novel because I loved them that much!
Hannah’s a one click author for me and this didn’t disappoint!
One of these days I’m going to get a wholesome eight hours sleep, but in the meantime, these books won’t read themselves! Did I stay up way too late reading this beauty? Why yes I did. And it was worth every eye bag to boot.
Reckless Love is a short but super sweet and spicy billionaire, arranged marriage, perfect for binging on a rainy spring day. So what’s it about?
After her grandparents pass away, leaving a tonne of debt behind, Sia is distraught but determined to save her family business. The only problem, is that to access her inheritance, she must be married. Sia’s lawyer introduces her to an exclusive company that offers wives for hire for wealthy men, and Sia reluctantly agrees. But when she discovers that the man standing at the end of the altar is the very one who bought out her family business for a song, she vows to ruin him. But the more time she spends with Wick, the more she realises he’s not the man she thought he was …
Reckless Love is very different to Hannah’s usual work, but I loved it! Hannah has a way of creating heady, butterfly inducing chemistry between her characters and although this was a short novel, we got this in spades.
As always, the characters and dialogue felt ‘real’ and Wick and Sia stole my heart. Wick is a super hot alpha hero with a heart of gold who knows exactly what he wants. Sia is sweet, independent and a little bit lost in life and I wanted to give her a hug. There’s great mental health rep as both characters have their struggles, but their understanding and support of each other was beautiful and added real depth to their relationship. They complimented each other perfectly and were exactly what each other needed.
Alongside the romance, there’s a nicely executed twist plot with a dose of intrigue and some delicious “who did this to you” moments, so it ticked all the boxes for me.
Reckless Love is a short and completely scrumptious novel, that will leave you craving more.
Thank you so much Hannah McBride for sending me this ARC!
Reckless Love is a Billionaire Romance and a short novella that I really enjoyed. This is definitely a different read than what I came to expect from Hannah but like all her books it was well written and interesting with great characters and beautiful romance and I hope we will get more such stories from her.
After the death of her beloved grandparents, Sia wants to save their failing family business, but to access her inheritance she needs to be married. When her lawyer tells her about an agency where she can become a wife for hire for influential men, she jumps at this opportunity, but when the man at the altar turns out to be the who who put her in this situation in the first place, she sets out to destroy his life the way he destroyed hers, which proves difficult since the more time they spend together the more she realizes she might have been wrong about him.
Reckless Love was such a fun and quick read. It started a bit slow but quickly picked up and I couldn’t put it down, Sia and Wick’s story was really captivating and there was a twist I didn’t expect. While they didn’t start on the right foot, Sia and Wick quickly realized that despite the circumstances that forced them together they might actually be what each other needs and I loved their relationship and how they slowly began to trust and cherish each other. They were truly amazing together and I wish this novella was longer because I couldn’t get enough of these two.
Reckless Love is a beautiful story with amazing characters and sweet and spicy romance that will leave you wanting more, I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it to everyone. I already can’t wait for Hannah’s next book!
When he knows what he wants, he knows. What. He. Wants. And will stop at nothing 🤷🏼♀️ we love a fully committed man 😂 I love the pacing of Alessia and Wick’s story, the banter and of course the spiceeeeeee.
Alessia has recently lost her grandparents, who raised her after her parents had died. Her grandfather’s jewelry store has been bought out by Warwick Forrester. Alessia doesn’t have enough money to buy a cup of coffee but has a trust fund, she can’t touch it until she is a certain age, or she gets married. Alessia is working at an entry level job with no other prospects to use her college degree.
The family’s attorney suggests contacting an agency called Wife for Hire! What could go wrong?! One thing is that you don’t meet your husband until your wedding day! Say what!!
Hannah has done it again with such a wonderful novella! This is such a great beach read!
Chapter 10 blew me away!!!
Going back and looking – I think I have highlighted 90% of this story.
Here are some of my favorite quotes:
“Love isn’t a thing that can be constrained or finitely defined. Don’t close yourself off to the possibility of love because it doesn’t fit a norm dictated by a fundamentally broken society.”
“. . . before I wrecked his life the same way he’d wrecked mine.”
“I had the stupidest urge to poke one of his pecs to see if it was real.”
“Not that I had anyone to text or call, but there were several levels of candy that needed a good crushing.” IYKYK
“And every night, I will show you why I’m worthy of being your husband.””
“His eyes went wide, then filled with a dark hunger that had a flood of arousal destroying my panties. If it were possible to be set on fire from a single glance, I would’ve been a pile of ash.”
“I watched him strip with rapt attention, knowing I wouldn’t look away if a purple elephant on a unicycle rolled through the room juggling baby geese.”
Sia has just lost the last of her family and with no choice but to sell her grandfather’s legacy to pay off the debts left behind, she is truly penniless and alone. But her lawyer and friend of her grandfather mentions that she can access her trust fund early if she marries then she can save the charity that her mother had started years before. But with no relationship in sight and never really having been in one before, she doesn’t see how that is possible. Until his tells her about Wife For Hire. An elite agency for those of wealth to arrange marriages. With a high success rate for successful marriages and all safety concerns checked, this is Sia’s only option. But on the day of her wedding she never expects her new husband to be the man who bought her grandfather’s company. Warwick Forrester. She thinks she knows what to expect when she sees him but at every turn Wick proves to be anything but the monster she expected. Perhaps her future will be better than she expected. I adored Sia and Wick! This sweet novella was right up my alley and not gonna lie, I wish the story was longer just to see more of them together. Hannah never lets me down when it comes to her romance stories and characters and this story continues to prove it!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It´s not every day I find a short novella that leaves me satisfied and not feeling that something is missing or some aspect could have been explored more.
Reckless Love by Hannah McBride was beautifully crafted, with an amazing story and suberp characters.
The story is about Sia who has lost everyone and everything and is desperate to save the last connection to her family. Her only resource is marrying a complete stranger, at least that’s what she thinks, cause she soon realizes that her husband is none other than the man who ran her family´s business to the ground.
Wick as his friends call him, is not exactly as she thinks making impossible for her to decide is she wants to ruin him for everything he took from her or love him for the rest of her life.
I loved this story so freaking much that I could read a saga about this couple. The author has a way with words that truly submerge the reader in the story, it´s, spicy, romantic and even though is super quick, it’s wholesome.
I´ve never been let down by this author very single one of her books has been amazing so obviously this one isn´t the exception.
If you love enemies to lovers, he falls first, super quick spicy romance this is the book for you. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of this gem, that ill treasure for a long time to come.
I received this free eARC from the author. This is my honest review.
Whhyyyy is this so short?? I need more! Hannah McBride is a fantastic author and she ENSNARED me with such a short story and I was so immersed in this book that I didn't realize it was done until the last page!
Sia and Wick are great characters. I can't imagine being in Sia's shoes and being so scared of what tomorrow will bring. I'm not sure if I could have made the same decision she did, but desperation calls for some strange decisions in life, I know that much is true. But she still took charge of her own life and I love that she was strong enough to do that to save what little she had left from her parents and grandparents.
Wick? WICK?? Swoon. He may have his moments of unconventional, but this man does not slack when he wants something. And when he focuses that attention on Sia? Wowzas, I was not ready for that intensity!
I absolutely loved this short story and would love to see more, maybe a future spin off? I'm not sure, but no matter because I adore everything Hannah McBride writes and will be waiting with baited breath for her next masterpiece in 2024!
Hannah McBride creates such wonderful characters, and their love stories are so beautifully told through her writing. I was absolutely captivated by Reckless Love, a Wife for Hire novella. While the tale may be short, the pacing is perfect and it’s strong in emotions and deep in all the feels.
With the perfect amount of steam, Alessia and Wick’s attraction is both passionate and vivid, and I love the little twist in the enemies to lovers element McBride works in. Just when I thought I truly understood their dynamic, a shift brought even more depth to their story and their relationship. And each new discovery, every new experience, brought out even more to love in both characters. It truly is remarkable how much intensity McBride builds into their story in such short order, and how quickly I became invested in their forever.
McBride immerses you in Alessia’s world, plunging you into her fears, insecurities, and determination through the story’s first person single point of view. Seeing Wick through her eyes and emotions, watching their story unfold, and rejoicing in their HEA was both time and tissues well-spent.
Sia’s only living relative passes away and she is left lonely and missing her grandparents. And things get worse when she finds out that she is losing her grandfathers store and the charity that her mother and grandmother started. She is left with the trust that could save it all, but the only way to access the trust is to get married.
So when her lawyer suggests her turning towards being a bride for hire, she is just desperate enough to put herself out there to try and find a husband.
Things turns out great when she is snatched up quick. But she doesn’t expect is for it to be by her arch nemesis - the man who is buying her grandparents legacy.
But things may not be as they seem in the end.
Sia’s character was great and I loved her shyness, but not when she is around Warwick.
Now Warwick, aka Wick, is completely swoon worthy. THIS MAN AND THE THINGS HE DOES. Absolutely fell head over heels in love with him.
What would you do if you had no one and nothing to fall back on and were offered everything if you married an affluent bachelor? That’s what happens here but there’s a twist: these men will do anything to get and keep what they want.
I liked Wick’s character. You could tell that there was some secrets he was keeping but that he was going to provide for Sia.
Sia is a relatable character for those with childhood trauma. From fear of abandonment to the wall she builds around herself. TW for a FMC with anxiety and panic attacks. She’s so focused on her surroundings and family legacy though that she forgets about herself until she’s forced to.
While this is meant to be a short novella I did feel like there were scenes that were rushed. I would have liked to see some scenes more drawn out as they felt rushed. Primarily the scenes dealing with the characters emotional growth.
The spice was on point and what we know and love from Hannah.
I absolutely love Hannah’s writing! Her ideas are limitless. She can do anything. Fantasy wolf shifters, omega verse, bully sports romance (mad world still to this day my favourite book in the world).. and now billionaire romance. I loved this book so much. It was fast paced and just hit the spot. The elements within the book ticked so many tropes, but it didn’t make it a cringe read when it came to certain aspects in the mmc’s personality. I think when it comes to Wick he can do no wrong honestly. I vibed with the main characters and even the driver. The fast paced nature of this book is my overall triple tick. I do recommend this book. My palate has been cleansed and now I’m off for a mad world re read. Thank you for this Arc Hannah and Tracy!
Before I begin, I would like to thank Hannah McBride and her team for sending me an arc of Reckless Love in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I'm not a huge fan of novellas.
Unless they are connected to a complete story, and it's just a side plot that can be covered in a novella, novella romances rarely hit the mark.
I like the whole story. The small details that make romance believable. Novella's tend to skip that.
Which Reckless Love fell prey to.
I love Hannah McBride's work. I'm a big fan, and I've been reading her work since her first release in Blackwater Pack. I just didn't love Reckless Love.
Did I hate it? No. It was fine. I did enjoy that the characters represented different disorders (anxiety, and OCD). For readers who like quick romances that don't dive in the deep end of the characters or story, its good. I'm just not one of those readers.
Technically speaking, it's well written. No one can deny that Hannah is a great writer.
If you enjoy short, sweet, and a little bit spicy novellas, give Reckless Love a shot. While you are at it, check out Hannah's other work, like Blackwater Pack and Mad World.
I was given am ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love Hannah McBride's writing and the stories she creates. This one fell a little flat for me, but I think it is because it is a novella. The storyline of Sia being put in a situation where she puts herself out there as a wife for hire was interesting, and the way it unfolds and why things are the way they are had potential to be a great reveal. But since the story was 100 pages everything felt rushed and there was no genuine connection felt like in most of McBride's books. Overall I'm glad I read it but really wish it was a novel not a novella.
It was my first book by this author and I was not disappointed. Well, I was a little bit, but more on that in a second. Wick and Sia are couple due to the circumstances, the only thing we learn in due course is who actually orchestrated the said circumstances. I don’t want to spoil much as I believe it’s better for any reader to go in blind, without any spoilers. I loved the story, it was truly impossible to put down, very engaging and entertaining, but also sweet and hot. Now to the disappointing part… it’s novella, I really wish if was much longer, it felt bit like being teased. Still it was very good.
This was a spicy and well written novella from Hannah as part of the Wife for Hire shared world. I’m not one to gravitate towards novellas because of length, but Hannah does a terrific job developing the characters and their relationship so quickly. You will adore Sia and want the best for her from the start and Wick quickly makes you want their relationship to succeed. It also included some twists on billionaire, wife for hire romance! Hannah did really well with these two and the only thing that could make it better would be more chapters or some Wick POV’s. ❤️
“I’m going to spend the rest of our lives proving you made the right decision, sweetheart. I’m going to make you love me.”
It's a short novella, so things moved in a very fast pace but I loved Alessia & Wick together! Wick was intense but he did everything for Alessia and I liked how he always protected her whenever she needed help. They were both lonely and it made sense that they got married because both of them clearly needed someone by their side. Overall, this was a very enjoyable, swoon worthy and quick read and I'm looking forward to read more from this author.
I absolutely devour everything this author puts out. If you are looking for a quick fast paced spicy read this one is for you. My only complaint is that I need more. I am so greedy when it comes to this authors work.
Sia and Wick, I loved them both. Sia was such a strong character for what she has been through, but she did what she thought was best and that led her to Wick. *swoon*
Such a fantastic twist to arranged marriage/mail order bride tropes! Sia grabbed my heart from page one as she tried to grapple with the way her world has changed after losing her grandparents. Wick is the perfect level of protective, possessive, and obsessed for a MMC. He had me melting in my seat! Their spice level is absolute steamy perfection. I am not usually a fan of novellas, but this one blew me away! It has everything I want from a story including a fabulous conclusion.
As usual, Hannah’s writing was amazing and I was sucked into the story right away. Alessia is a shy and reserved girl who has lost everything when her grandfather died. She goes through an agency to marry a stranger and he turns out to be the big bad wolf who took everything from her.
I loved the writing and the main character but I think her love interest was a bit too creepy for me.
I really enjoyed how this novella put a unique twist on the arranged marriage trope. Sia's strength and Wick's swoon-worthy character were portrayed perfectly. Their chemistry is intense, and the story, although short, is deeply engaging. I wished it was longer because I absolutely loved their journey. Hannah McBride never disappoints, delivering a steamy, emotional, and captivating read. This is a must-read for romance lovers!
I did receive an e-arc in exchange for an honest review BUT don’t let that deter you!
Reckless Love is a fast paced short story that is sizzling. Currently, my favorite phrase is “Screw Warwick Forrester all the way to hell.” Because boy did Sia literally do just that. I love the way Hannah McBride brings to life each character in every story she tells. I highly recommend Reckless Love for any reader who wants a quick break to read a steamy love story of two people whose hate becomes love.
Oh, how does one wish to be swept out of a complicated life into the hands of prince charming, who is all about treating you like his queen. This is a lovely gem of a novella, personally I wish it was a bit longer with more character and relationship development, more to enjoy, you know? Hannah is an amazing author and everything I read from her so far I have loved. This is an enjoyable piece of brain candy and I definitely recommend it for rainy days.
Just the way I like my novellas, spicy and sweet, a bit of fire and ice! A tasteful tease of a read that will surely entice you to seek out more of this author's work! And I have to mention, Wick is the perfect nickname for this man as he is most certainly the fuse to light some serious flames, capital H, O, T!
This is a short and sweet romance novella with the writing I've come to love by Hannah. The FMC does end up with a small case of Stockholm syndrome in my opinion. I thought the book was just a tad too short to really develop the characters the way I think Hannah excels in, which is a bummer. But if you need a short romance with an obsessed MMC - this is for you!
I enjoyed Wick and Sia a lot. I like how he gave her time and space and was maybe not always straightforward but tried to be open with her. Sia has lost her whole family but she is determined to keep her mother's charity going. I like her spirit and determination. These two are great together and it's a fun story.
I received an ARC of this book and I adore Hannah McBride, so was excited for this! It’s a sweet, steamy, and lovely novella. It has a billionaire, arranged marriage, he falls first, touch her and die, past trauma, mental health rep, and more! It was a quick and fast ride, but I enjoyed the love, steam, and overcoming that was the center of this story!
Ok so I’m mostly into paranormal romances, but I saw this book while searching for a new book, and decided to try it out. And omg this is the chef’s kiss 💋 of steamy, instalove romances. 🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️I was absolutely enthralled, and will definitely read more of Hannah’s written masterpieces! She’s become a new favorite author. ✍️ ❤️
