Maddest Temptation: A Dark Mafia Romance

Rate this book
He was supposed to hate me, not make me fall in love with him.

I am addicted to destructive decisions, until one of them lands me in a place I never thought I’d– be-behind bars. And who do I call for help? Cassio Moretti, the man who shattered my heart four years ago. Cassio is my damnation wrapped up in my salvation.

Wounded by those who have robbed me of everything, I will stop at nothing to seek vengeance, until an unexpected call from Francesca disrupts everything. Rescuing her from prison should have been a one-time favor. We were supposed to have parted ways, but she became an addiction I couldn’t seem to shake. Francesca was an angel wrapped up in all my maddest temptations.

But we'd both be lying if we said we didn't feel a spark threatening to turn into a full-fledged flame.

Maddest Temptation is a gripping dark mafia romance, which includes themes of forbidden love, enemies to lovers, second chance romance, grief talks to grief, mentions of mental health, and found family. It's perfect for readers who enjoyed When she Unravels, by Gabrielle Sands, and Broken Promises by I. A Dice.

It's a good debut to be honest, but it doesn't feel like a mafia romance. The vibes are there, but that’s it…

ARC reader here🤪 let me start by saying this…. read this book, you won’t regret it 🫠 this book had me feeling all the emotions, one minute I found myself kicking my feet and giggling at this man to having tears fall 😅 not to mention the spice 🤭 the connection between these two 😩 I am not a second chance romance girlie but this book does it so good I may be converted 🙃 it hit all of my favorite tropes (some I’m not going to spoil hehe) 🤫 but on a serious note, overall the plot was good, the characters were great (Cassio is easily in the running for my fave book boyfriend), the mafia aspect was fun, overall a great read 🥰 easily has made its way into my top three books of the year so far☺️ I’m obsessed what can I say 🤗

ARC reader here👋🏼

4.5⭐️
guys this book has EVERYTHING 😭

-“who did this to you?” i’m screaming
-“fuck it” moment? literal butterflies
-the spice? 🌶️🌶️🌶️ perfect, it wasnt too extreme (it didn’t traumatize me like other mafia books and Im so grateful for that💀)
-“i hate you” “yeah it turns me on” my gawd-
-tending to his wounds after he killed people??? and they say romance is dead
-“what are you doing here?” “you called.” moment? absolute perfection
-good girl🤭🤭🤭
-“my money will look good on you” jesus christ
-Fast and Furious mentioned?? I’m giggling and kickin my feet
-THE BANTER? chef kiss🤌🏼
-Cassio saying he’s been Pavlov-ed? my biology major brain was having so much fun😁

I highlighted soo much quotes I cant choose a favorite😭 this book was PERFECT
the 4.5 is because the spacing at the end was a tiny bit weird for me but it didn’t ruin it at all!!!

Fernanda, please write more books, you’re awesome and I love your brain for what it has created 🥹

*honest ARC review.
This book pleasantly surprised me in so many ways and exceeded the expectations I had for it. Definitely a prime example of the genre!
Aside from all the typical things I would rave about in a book that made it a five star read for me, another thing was how this didn't read like your typical 'mafia' romance. Whilst the romance was a central feature and was absolutely delightful at that, I was happily surprised with how much it revolved around the Mafia aspect. It wasn't just a so called gang boss carrying around weapons; it involved a look into the business side of things and I loved the realism of it. It felt like so much research had gone into getting things like this right, and I really appreciated that.
The main characters had a lot of little things about them that made them unique, and it was nice how consistently these came up throughout the story. The author sure kept track of all these things and nicely threaded them throughout. The characters felt distinctive in my mind and from the very first scenes after we meet them both, I had crystal clear images of what they looked like. I also really enjoyed the strength of our FMC; even when she was struggling with a few things, she was still strong-willed and powerful. Oh, and the MMC? He was that really nice balance between dominating and letting our FMC do her thing, giving her everything she wanted. It was nice to see him learning to give over control to her and coming to terms with his fears and feelings to be able to be what she needed. To add to this the side characters just added so much to the story and really made this book stand out from others in this genre.
The pacing is nice throughout, and when I actually sat down and focused on reading, I would find myself getting through chunks at a time because it drew me in so much. I think this may have even been a case where I put the book down for a few days towards the end not because it was bad by any means, but because I was dreading having to be done with the story!
I found in some instances not enough context was given about what the meanings of some of the sayings in other languages were so I was slightly lost, but overall, this was nothing a quick google search couldn't solve! I actually kind of really liked how regularly it would switch to another language for a sentence or two as it added depth to the character's backgrounds.
Another good small thing I noticed about the book was how nicely the author balanced that line between not enough description and too much where it slowed the pace down. Things were kept moving, but the descriptions of places was always vivid enough that I could picture the scene playing out in my mind, especially during the first half of the book. There were so many moments that had me holding my breath and screaming and feeling all warm inside and swooning and feeling worry settling into my chest. The writing could use a little development in all, but I am without a doubt that the author has so much potential and that her next books will only get better as she finds her distinctive style.
Overall, I think readers of this genre will love this book, and that others looking to branch into the genre should pick up this book as it is exactly what you would expect and want from the genre and is a delight to read. I can't wait to see what Graziano produces in the future!

This book immediately went on my "must order a physical copy for my library" list. The fact that this was Fernanda's DEBUT NOVEL literally blows my mind. This would be a 6-star read for me if 6 stars was even an option. She exceeded all expectations I had going into this by a LONG shot.

I originally wanted to read it because I DEVOUR Mafia romances religiously. The blurb on this was an IMMEDIATE YES for me, add in a beautiful cover and I was READYYYYY! Fernanda's sense of world-building and really drawing a beautiful picture of her storyline, her characters, and the emotions falling off the pages made this a 6-star read for me. The plot was strong, the storyline flowed nicely, making it an easy-to-love read. Nothing felt rushed at all. Francesca was a strong FMC, getting through everything without cowering back. Cassio was a delicious MMC. Their chemistry, connection, banter and love story was a 5/5. I loved the second chance at love aspect between them. They really made the whole book for me. I could not get enough of those 2! Two beautifully broken characters coming together to show that they can get through anything and come out of it stronger than ever.

I will be following Fernanda's author journey and can't wait to see what she writes next!

ARC REVIEW ♥️

how could I love a book so much that I was so sad when it finished? i loved the characters, i loved the story, i fell in love with everything. i was hooked from the very first line, like my first reaction was “oh ok.” i literally crawled into my reading hole for this book. when i had to leave it, i was taking my ipad everywhere just so i can continue reading this book 😭😭

i loved how francesca was actually a strong fmc 🤭 she stood up for herself. it took her a while to actually stand up for herself with certain people but it’s just one of the things that made francesca stand out to me. then with cassio, him learning to lower his guard down. now it’s not all the way down but now he’s able to show how he feels. cassio doesn’t have to keep this facade up and going. he get’s to be his real self with himself and francesca 🥰

my obsession with francesca and cassio cannot be explained. everything about these two was just perfect 😌 their banter was sooo good. you could feel the TENSION these two had. but you could also feel the love they had for each other. neither francesca or cassio had to say the words to mean it. they showed it to each other ☺️

then comes in the battles these two had to go through. whether it be with each other or their own battles. not only were they were able to fight and conquer for themselves, but they were able to conquer these battles for each other with each other. francesca and cassio were able to grow stronger together and i think it’s what makes this story so beautiful. they stood by each other no matter the obstacles that was pushed their way ❤️

🌹: thank you to fernanda for giving my the opportunity to read this amazing story

90 procent. Kon het niet langer aanzien eigenlijk... Jeetje...

Ugh... Irriteerde me echt mateloos...

Op de laatste 15 procent nog drama creëren en alles moeten afronden smh

Francesca's dad is a piece of hot garbage I want to start there. I hate him in every way imaginable. I hated her mom being sick, that's probably one of the worst things that can happen especially considering their family dynamic. her addiction broke my heart, it wasn't even her fault but the fault of her dead husband. every time she went into self destruct mode I felt bad for her and wanted to help her.

Cassio was so hot and cold with Frankie it gave me freaking whiplash.

I loved Marie and Antoine, they were genuine friends who cared about Frankie.

there were some parts of the story around the like 87% mark that made me roll my eyes. a lot of the plot and conflict was predictable and that hindered my reading experience because I felt myself dragging to finish the story. the resolution felt kind of rushed and I feel like there were some loose ends, but this was a very well written debut novel.

there were also a quite a bit of grammatical/punctuation errors, but I can only assume those were fixed by the time the book was actually released.

⭐️ 3.85

I enjoyed this and it throughly scratched the itch for a well written mafia read. It could be better in some terms but otherwise it’s a good read. I didn’t really get a lot from the blurb provided or the other reviews so I’m gonna try explaining.
The plot was quite similar to this other popular and well known mafia read but I’m not complaining cuz I don’t mind it and it’s been a while since I read that other story.

Basically, our main characters used to date in the past but had a falling out when rbe FMC got stuck in an arranged marriage. Her husbands just died so she’s moved back to their hometown, MMCs city. She needs help with something so she calls him and from then on, they’re in each others business but are show disdain to each other. T some point, the MMC does a complete 180 and falls in love. He becomes all mushy mushy which was kinda boring.

Anyways, it was a nice read mostly because it wasn’t badly written, but will I remember this story in a month or two? Likely not lol

Alright, I liked this book. I love Cassio's adorable attention to her and how willing he is to help her in any way he can. Even if it means letting her go makes me scream and kick my feet. Francesca is so protective of Cassio it's cute that she legitimately threw herself in front of a bullet. However, there are a few things that aren't my favourite. The spelling needs another edit I get the pressure and excitement to release the book but I feel like it needs to be edited one more time, also the medical stuff gave me a panic attack. That could be because I grew up a medic father but the “I hope grey thought me well” gave me straight-up anxiety. Overall I did love this storyline with his sister and their history was adorable and sad and I liked it more than I thought. Their both so cute and they are the type that you are overly invested in to the point where you question if it's healthy. I recommend. 3.5 stars.

Maddest Temptation is a wonderfully captivating story.
Francesca Manci met Cassio Moretti, because Cassio's little sister Bella and Francesca were friends. Francesca and Cassio started dating. They kept their dating a secret, because Francesca's father had arranged a marriage for her that she didn't want. Francesca gets her heart broken and now it's as though they are enemies.
Circumstances bring Cassio and Francesca together. He seems to always be getting her out of trouble. Marie and Antoine are Francesca's best friends and help her through the hard times.

He was supposed to hate me, not make me fall in love with him.

Ohhhhh what a story. I love with a story has a "touch her and you die" theme - makes me fall into their world and never want to leave!
Don't let the cover fool you, you will go through all the stages of feelings - I was brought to a sobbing fit then a few pages deep I am madly in love with the characters.
This is definitely a book to read, dreamy characters - spicy moments to get your heart racing - and a full on roller coaster of emotions.

This is the best book about the mafia I've read. The chemistry between Francesca and Cassio is amazing, just one spark and they are already burning. My girl is strong (she uses it, I would look at you if you lived in such hell)She fights not only for the love of her life or her child, but first and foremost for herself, the moment when she is ready to sacrifice herself for him, because living in a world without him is simply impossible💔.Cassio's love for her is a gift from God and is given once in a lifetime."Francesca has always been my wildest temptation. The only girl I could never stay away from and never forget. And now... now she will be mine forever. Forever Mrs. More"

🌟 Brace yourselves for the ultimate love story rollercoaster! 🎢

Francesca? A total powerhouse! 🤭 It was a thrill watching her find her voice and stand her ground. And Cassio? Oh, be still my heart! 🥰 His journey from guarded to genuine was a revelation.

💖 But let's talk about Francesca and Cassio together! 😌👫 Absolute perfection.
Their banter? Legendary! 👌
The tension? Off the charts!
But beneath it all, their love? 💕 Unspoken yet undeniable. Actions truly speak louder than words. ☺️

💪 And those battles? Holy moly! 🙌 Whether fighting for themselves or each other, they faced it all head-on, emerging victorious every time. Together, they're an unstoppable force! ❤️
This story? A beautiful testament to love, resilience, and unwavering support.

For their own reasons, they parted ways years ago and have tried staying away from each other. But obviously fate had different ideas and their love for one another remained strong. It was amazing to read how Cassio and Francesca worked together and supported one another as they faced their respective issues.

The way in which the story was written, excellent. There’s something different about the plot as compared to other mafia books I’ve read. A second chance romance where the MMC and FMC never truly fell out of love for one another. Supporting characters were also amazingly brought together in the story. Little details or issues of the character that I thought had been forgotten were brought back to life and closure was given for them.

Cassio and Francesca are two people I loved with my heart. Mafia can be a dangerous, but the people can be beauty, their love can be amazing, their anger can be exploding, but their affection can be comforting. I am not a writer but this book made me.The emotions, anger and love was so beautifully written. The story was written crystal clear and I loved the author for that. The way she made the feelings pass to us was the success of this book. Just loved it...

For it to be the authors first book it was pretty well written especially if it’s a mafia romance and I’ve read some pretty bad mafia romance.

I enjoyed it but I think it was because it was pretty much plagiarized from A LOT of different mafia books or maybe just that one specific series. I meeeannnn the name is literally the same 👀if you know what I mean.

Hmhmmm…….maddest……hmmmhh

but hey did I eat it up? Fuck yeah I did. I mean it scratched that itch I had so 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is a Dark Mafia Romance book, and it is really good. I absolutely love second chance romance it did take a while, but it was so beautiful. Frankie had a hard life and had one true love that broke her heart. Cassio had grief he was dealing with and heartache for his sister's death. But in the end, love can conquer anything.

This was a fun read. It was fast paced and had a good amount of action and drama. There were times that I felt like the story could have been fleshed out a bit more. There would be this big, intense, climactic scene and it would only last a paragraph or two. It felt like it had these great bones but could have been even better with a bit more detail.
