Villains Do It Better

Rescued by the Robot Enforcer

Rate this book
In danger, protected by a faceless killing machine. I fight not just for survival, but to keep my heart in one piece.

Tisha Varda is the lone witness against a crime boss who rules the city with an iron fist. When the police fail to stop multiple attempts on her life, she decides she's had she's out. Or she would be, if the cops hadn't forced a masked robot enforcer upon her to make her testify... no matter the cost.

ANSL-5.2, experimental autonomous sentinel, has one Ensure Tisha's ass is in that courthouse to deliver her testimony.

But why did they have to make a killing machine look and sound like... well, that? ANSL-5.2 is the embodiment of a perfect weapon. Huge and decked out in all black armor, its face is shrouded in the void of a full-face visor. Its raspy baritone oozes assertive confidence, designed to intimidate and elicit compliance. It should not be making her stomach clench. And her face shouldn't feel so damn hot each time that visor slants her way across the room.

He's a faceless killing machine sent to keep her in line. Why'd they have to make him so damn sexy?

Rescued by the Robot Enforcer is a steamy sci-fi romance novella featuring a masked robot sentinel transcending his code when faced with the raw depths of human desire.

This story was quite enjoyable if you ask me. The plot was very fun and the robot sounded very handsome, almost making me wish I was there. It was also well-written and easy brain-food, making it a fun and light read. I could enjoy myself without thinking too much about the words and really get sucked into the story.

Talking about the story, I will say again that the plot was very fun. There was romance of course, but also a bit of action. I really like that combination and I felt that the balance between those too was good in this book. However, I did miss a bit more depth in the transition to lovers. I felt like it missed just "that little something" (that extra spark) on that front. I would have loved to read more scenes and interactions that showed this change in the characters their dynamic, because now the story felt extra short and fast-paced this way. Not that it bothered me a lot, but I feel like it would make the story even better.
The characters were fun and I wished I had a thousand pages more to get to know them better, to read more about their past and future, but sadly we had to part so soon.

Overall it was a fun read and I had a great afternoon reading this, so I recommend this book if you want a fast-paced story about a handsome robot. Go check this book out!!

Tisha (h) becomes the only witness to a crime lord's activities and her life is suddenly thrown into chaos with multiple assassination attempts. Desperate for protection, she finds herself under the watch of ANSL-5.2, also known as Ansel (H), a formidable robot enforcer assigned to ensure her safety until she can testify in court. Despite Ansel's intimidating presence—a massive figure in all-black armor and a visor hiding any hint of emotion—Tisha feels an unexpected and unsettling attraction to her robotic guardian. As they navigate dangers, challenges, and corruption, the bond between Tisha and Ansel deepens, challenging the limits of Ansel's programming and Tisha's resolve. Tisha begins to see Ansel not just as a protector but as someone she can trust and rely on. Forced together in a fight for survival, they must confront not only the external threats hunting them but also growing connection between them as things heat up between the two. Hot and steamy human-robot romance with plenty of action, drama, and danger.

A short story, with morally grey characters, fast paced, action packed and lots of steam!
Special mention for the touch or uniqueness that Alexandra Norton creates her male characters.

“How close do you want me?” Ansel asked, pressing his fingers into her clit as he let control of his thrusts slip away, into something more erratic. He brought his visor to her ear, pushing against her lobe when she turned her head to expose her throat for him. “How close can you take me?”

I was today years old when I learned that “robosexual” is a thing. After reading this new release by Alexandra Norton, I think this might apply to me 🥵🥵🥵

This is a short novella in which Tisha is placed in witness protection and assigned ANSL-5.2 (or “Ansel”) as a protector.

Having also read “Colossal” from the same author, I already knew I love her writing style and this did not disappoint. I love how she flawlessly works the Sci-fi elements into the fic and brings the story to life with delicious tension between the MC’s (yes, even when one is a robot). Even though this was short, there were still some twists I didn’t expect. It ends with a HFN (happy for now) and room to read more in the future. Definitely recommend!

Fun fast paced light read that u can read on a short afternoon break at the beach or when u need something not too in depth. Tisha is a witness who needs protection until she testified. Enter ansl 5.2 and new designed robot with a killer body design but no face. While protecting Tisha and having to run to save themselves Tisha finds herself attracted to Ansel while he explores the limits of his programming and finds the limits bay not he set in stone.

This is an insta-love style story so sadly there's not much detail regarding how things develop between them and u just jump in. A bit longer story with more depth would have enhanced storyline. Nice plot that does hold some surprising twists. Was disappointed Ansel didn't have a face just a visor as that detracted from the relationship. Bring able to remove the visor to something underneath would have been better fur the romance. Overall a short fun fast paced easy read that u can escape into without much focus.
I received an arc copy from book sirens and this is my honest voluntary review.

I consumed this book! Or, maybe, it consumed me! Alexandra Norton's newest book, Rescued by the Robot Enforcer (Villains Do It Better), is a hot, steamy novella from the author's Hearts With Teeth universe, and it is amazing!

This book is set in a futuristic Earth where cloning is outlawed. When a young woman, Tisha Varda, witnesses bodies floating in tanks, she learns first-hand cloning is taking place in a huge, secretive way. When she goes to the authorities, their main concern is her testimony. When three attempts are made on Tisha's life, she is ready to run. But her handlers have a different plan; Tisha is assigned to a new high-tech
Robot Enforcer, ENSL-52.

There are so many reasons to love this book, but here are the things I love most:
1) The two main characters, Tisha and the Robot, whom she names Ensel. I don't want to give too much away, as the book is short, but OMG, their chemistry is awesome! She is snarky and belligerent. He is disciplined and extremely protective. 2) Ensel is equipped to be a love interest, and he comes through. Steamy passion for lots of entertainment.
3) I love this author's writing style! It is such a pleasure to read because herbooks always have a well planned and executed plot.
4) Rescued By The Robot Enforcer was such a pleasure to read! I can't wait for more on this cute, usual couple!

Tisha Varda is a whistle blower on an extremely illegal organ harvesting clone ring against a powerful mob boss. As the main witness, multiple attempts have been made against her, making her reliant on the ambivalent police. The cops put her in the care of ANSL-5.2, a new robotic protector who is going to make sure Tisha arrives at court alive come hell or high water. As the threats against Tisha grow, she finds herself trusting and growing closer to ANSL-5.2.

Rescued by the Robot Enforcer is a quick science fiction romance between a robot and a morally grey human. Pacing is on point with plenty of action. Despite being a short novella, there’s a fully realized world and plenty of time spent for the development of feelings between ANSL-5.2 and Tisha. A thoroughly enjoyable read that you won’t want to put down.

I liked this story. Original. Thought provoking. Dystopian future Earth where “sentient” robots exist.

Tisha needed to be protected until she testified against a bad guy. Robot enforcer, ANSL-5.2, was tasked to protect her and make sure she got to the court unharmed. For some reason, she felt a physical attraction towards the robot. That disturbed her until he revealed an attraction towards her. The reason for their mutual attraction is revealed later in the story. First, ANSL-5.2 needed to get Tisha to safety once the bad guys started to come after them.

I felt a bit sad for Tisha. ANSL-5.2 was a robot, after all. Yet, the author created a character that tugged at my heart as the spark of humanity shined through whenever he said “I am Ansel”.

A hopeful HEA is implied at the end of the story. This is a well written story with great characters. I really enjoyed it.

Rescued by the Robot Enforcer is an excellent Sci-Fi Romance novella that spins a tale of robotic spice with plenty of thrills and chills.
After three assassination attempts on her life MFC Tisha Varda who is scheduled to testify against a powerful crime lord has an autonomous agent assigned to her by the police, who have failed so far in keeping her safe.
With Ansl-5.2 watching her back Tisha will not be missing her time in court testifying against the man who has been cloning people for harvesting.
Unforeseen Is the attraction that develops between Tisha and Ansl. How is that possible you may ask? Read this captivating story with its wonderful characters, danger, action, surprises and steam.
I loved this excellently written exploration of all things synthetics and bits that was a total delight of a read. Yes Ms. Norton I do want more of this couple!

I received a free ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This quick read is a part of the Villians Do It Better series involves a sentient robot enforcer and the human he is brought in to protect.

Tisha is in police protective custody after witnessing a crime. ANSL-5.2 is brought in to protect her when police are failing to protect her after multiple attempts on her life.

ANSL-5.2 is not a cyborg. Therefore, he has no facial features, only a visor and lights for eyes. While this took me a minute to figure out why he had no facial features but was equipped with a peen, the author did a great job bringing him to life and describing how the lights would reflect his emotions.

With this being 110 pages, there is an instalove component to their relationship. There is some action to keep the plot moving.

ANSL-5.2 was such an interesting character the wished this was a full-length novel to learn more about why he was created and how he became sentient.

Tisha, the female human lead, is a semi-voluntary witness against a crime lord, who has just decided that the personal risks of testifying are too high and she wants to withdraw. The police, however, aren’t interested in letting her go and assign ANSL-5.2, the male-presenting robot lead, as her security.

But ANSL-5.2 is becoming more than a robot and is interested in Tisha as more than a protectee. Can they stay alive, uproot corruption, and have a happy life?

This novella is dual POV, well written, and a steamy sci fi romance. I enjoyed Tisha’s attitude and determination. I enjoyed the way they worked together and the character development for both of them. I enjoyed ANSL-5.2’s dry sense of humour and how processes and restrictions were slowly subverted.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

This was another imaginative novel by Ms. Norton.
Tisha was a strong and feisty woman who wanted to the right thing, now she is in danger.
I love watching ANSL5.2 transform into Ansel, becoming more human. The author did a great job describing the various parts of the robot and what was impacted to form the change.
Tisha asked the questions about Ansel that the reader would ask. Some of them were answered.
I love their code: Trisha asks: "What are you? " And he answers "I am Ansel", when he is not being the weaponized robot.
This story takes place before the end of Old Earth. This is a time when finding an apple is a big deal. Where animals have died and humans are eating synthetic food. Where robots are common enough that there are more than one type available and cloning is not uncommon.

The thing I don't understand is... which of the MCs is the villain?
This is a HFN story. Tisha and Ansel are set to appear again, according to the author.

ARC Review:

Well that was interesting to say the least... I enjoyed the plot, Tisha's backstory and bravery, Ansel's development, etc. I don't think I've every came across a book yet following a .

HOWEVER, one thing I didn't quite understand was the smut... how can Ansel become hard? He's literally a block of metal that's naturally hard at room temperature and a robot (why did Ansel's designers give them this special piece of anatomy?) . Also the synthetic oils was kind of weird. But other than that small confusion, Norton did a great job this time round.

This was such a fun and unique story that brings together Tisha, the only witness to a crime lord's actions, and robot enforcer, Ansel (ANSL-5.2). As these two face betrayals, assassination attempts and reprograming, they find they must rely on each other to survive. Tisha develops a surprising softening towards the intimidating Ansel, with his full face visor. And furthermore, Ansel has been made as a fully functioning man.... Soon enough hot times unfold between them, but so do feelings. I loved watching the evolution of their relationship as love blooms for Tisha and Ansel's programming gets challenged in his bid to keep her safe. Great fun with a hot romance to keep you glued to your reader ;D

Thrilling cyborg romance.
🔸️ The story has all I like: action, adventure, power intrigue and morally grey MCs. 🖤
🔸️ MMC is literally a killing machine ("Terminator" vibes here). He is a big, scary android with no face. His character creation is fantastic 🖤🔥 and I am totally under his spell.
🔸️FMC is smart and strong but remains a mystery for me. I couldn't grasp her character. However, together with MMC they create a powerful and steamy couple. I liked how they earn each other loyalty.
🔸️The story has a bit bitter-sweet ending and I liked it. It suited the tale.
🔸️Well written, smooth to read.
I will definitely check more books by this author.

This is a gritty fast paced novella. Ansel and Tisha are thrown together after multiple assassination attempts are made on Tisha's life. Tisha has lived a life of crime but there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed. Now if only law enforcement and the government would do their jobs.

I enjoyed the development of Ansel as a character as he found himself more than just his base programming. Tisha's grit and will to survive helped drive the story.

Overall an enjoyable quick science fiction romance novella.

This novella is such an action-packed rollercoaster! It was unputdownable. It felt like I was reading a romantic and spicy version of Robocop! ANSL-5.2, is a robot assigned to protect Tisha, a human who requires police protection against her former boss, since she is about to testify against him in court. At first, there is suspicion on Tisha's part, but they get close as she learns from ANSL-5.2 the truth, and something was also changing in ANSL-5.2. The story is captivating and engaging, suspenseful and entertaining. The world building is great and Tisha and ANSL-5.2 are wonderful characters.

My first thought when the feelings were doing their things to the main character was: that she would never be kissed as long they were together.

Second: why does he have a dick when he's programmed for protection and basically… war?

Third: Nevermind. The love-making was hot and weird, but I liked it haha.

I have to be honest here, I was sure I'll rate this three or four, but nope. The author convinced me with her writing and great creativity that this story was worth a 5 star.

Oh, how my heart hurts when his original mission was revealed. Not for Tisha but for Ansel.

4.5/5 stars | ⭐⭐⭐⭐½

This impulse read was an amazing surprise! The perfect balance of sweet and steamy, I commend the author for managing to execute a satisfying slow burn in around 100 pages. The sci-fi world of the story was decently fleshed out without bogging me down with worldbuilding. While the thriller elements of the plot definitely took a backseat to the romance, I still found it to be exciting and the stakes of the central relationship to be plausible. I definitely wish I could spend more time reading about Tisha and Ansel!

"Just as he thought he'd found agency, he found himself losing it willingly to the woman beneath him."

This was a pretty quick read, and I did enjoy it. The concept, along with the plot twists, we're definitely interesting. She executed this as a novella quite well, and she gave us enough world building that it could have easily been a novel, or the start to a series.

There wasn't much to this novella. It was okay, if a bit ridiculous. Seriously, sex with a robot is fine - but it has no mouth?!?! I would have found the story more interesting if it was fleshed out - either at the front end (how and why the robot was created and what the corporation was planning to do with it, and/or more on the cloning discovery/the woman's history with the crime syndicate) or at the end (would have been interesting to read about their life on the moon colony).

Entertaining novella that had a few surprises. I found it interesting and I wish it was longer. This author really knows how to write a satisfying unique romance for me. 😂 I loved Ansel and would love to see another book about their relationship. Tisha was a favorite MC, she was strong and honest and that was very realistic and adorable.
Thanks Alexandra Norton for this eARC. All thoughts were mine.

Wow!

I want to say the book was weird but it really wasn’t. It was definitely a romance and such a steamy one. I kept waiting on Ansel to create a face and lips but that was another author’s robot romances. I admired the hell out of Tisha though, what an adventure for her. I do wonder what will happen and if there will be another book to explain if they made it to the lunar settlement.

This was a quick read , we have a hot dominant robot set to protect a witness from an assassins. She wants to escape because she knows no one cares and they have almost killed her several times. They assigned her a new protector to make show up to give her testimony. The back n forth heats up the chemistry and I did not see that twist coming. Cannot wait to see what next is in store in the future.

Machines/robots have been around for awhile making things easier for us. But what happens when they don’t just follow orders/programming, but start to think for themselves? When everyone seems to have a secret agenda, who can you trust or who to believe? There are so many possibilities and this book will have you guessing…. right to the very end.

Part of the Villains Do It Better, a short steamy story that held my interest. She's a witness to criminal activity. They keep trying to kill her. He's an experimental robot law enforcer. Why has he been made anatomically correct with an attractive body? Why is she so attracted to him? Could he be more than meets the eye? I enjoyed reading this story. Lots of action and heat. I highly recommend you check it out.
