This collection of random adventures from various timelines of the Turtles includes two entries in the style of the best written and worst looking of all the animated incarnations; the Nickelodeon series from the 2010s.

In the first entry, a friend from both Hamato Yoshi (Splinter) and Oroku Saki’s (Shredder) past called Tetsumi Onamota (now a mutant conglomeration of all animals in the Japanese Zodiac after being discorporated by a piece of ancient Kraang technology) has forced foes to join forces. (Are you following this? Do you even care?) Funny how this character and remarkably happenstance merging of past and present threats were never mentioned previously. It’s almost as if this character was pulled out of some writer’s ass.

The second of the same era is an inconsequential attempt to make the tween version of April O’Neil more interesting. She tries to girl boss too quickly, wanting to take on a mission. Splinter forbids it, but Donatello is so down bad that he takes her along anyway. Long story short, she gets captured, but everything turns out fine.

Betwixt these two stories is an old Archie-era comic introducing the skateboarding metalhead Mondo Gecko. He helps the turtles fight off some linebacker-grade foot soldiers whose dialogue bubbles in every panel they appear consist solely of a skull and crossbones. After the fight (during which a canister of ooze spilled on him and his pet gecko) he is dumped by his girlfriend because he turned into a bipedal gecko.

Then there’s a tacked-on caboose story about a cutesy dinosaur sleeping or something. Even your resident TMNT maniac couldn’t be fucked to care.

This review has been made possible by a post-Norovirus brain fog and fatigue, as likely will the next few. I thank you for your indulgence and understanding.
