Few know the topic of wisdom as well as best-selling author and pastor Charles Swindoll. For years, he has been sharing his "insights for living" with millions of listeners to his daily radio show of the same name. Wisdom for the Way collects some of Swindoll's most classic insights into daily bite-size readings. Gleaned from the book of Proverbs, here are wise words for busy people on topics such as contentment, character, work, and worship.
Charles Swindoll has devoted over four decades to two passions: an unwavering commitment to the practical communication and application of God's Word, and an untiring devotion to seeing lives transformed by God's grace. Chuck graduated magna cum laude from Dallas Theological Seminary and has since been honored with four doctorates. For his teaching on Insight for Living, he has received the Program of the Year award and the Hall of Fame award from the National Religious Broadcasters as well as multiple book awards.
Wisdom for the Way is a Devotional which I read throughout the year 2017.
I am a strong believer in starting the day with a good thought or theme. This is exactly what this book did for me in 2017.
Charles Swindoll has more than 90 titles to his name. This book pulls from approximately 20 of them. Just imagine getting the highlights of 20 booksin one book. With Wisdom for the Way that is what you have.
This is not a cover-to-cover read. There is so much content. It is aptly titled as well. There is much to meditate on and really mull over. It has really opened up areas of new thought for me. Things that I have not previously considered, or delved much in. I definitely recommend this book to others. The format is such that you could read a page a year, but sometimes I just couldn't move on for a few days (thus why it took me over a year to finish it). Definitely a good read!
I love this book when you need a dose of pick me up it is great. This book was a gift from my daughter Beth we had bought one for a friend and I just loved it. I will never finish this book because it is helpful to read from time to time.
A beautiful devotional with good reflection questions. I tend to read devotionals with others/rotate through them. I did not keep up to finish this one completely, but hope to in the future and be more consistent/daily. What I did get through was beautiful and very good.
I love being able to pick up this book and see my notes from previous times I've read different pages and it has made a difference in my life. Now I pass it out to share with others as well. Such a positive book!
I no longer remember how this book came to me. I don't remember buying it (used) so I suspect a friend sent it to me. I remember reading a few books by Charles Swindoll in the past--mostly because the titles that seemed to reference tennis intrigued me.
I would call this a devotional. There's a title, followed by a Bible verse, followed by a short, one page thought. These thoughts seem to be pulled from about 22 other titles written by Swindoll. (I do not know if they are taken verbatim from those books or if some editing was done to shorten the thoughts to fit on a single page.)
I read this over a long period of time--usually 2-4 entries at a time--so I can't really remember much of the wisdom that struck me--though I do remember writing a few thoughts down in a journal as ones I wanted to ponder.
