Dione Williams knew what it was like to be young and pregnant with nowhere to go. Years later, through hard work and sheer force of will, she had provided a good life for her daughter and started a successful home for teenage mothers and their babies. But from the moment television producer Garrett Lawrence began a story on the teen center, Dione's hard-won confidence was shaken. How could a man she found so attractive and intelligent be so cynical about unwed mothers? Battling her conflicted emotions, Dione would have to defend the work she believed in - even if it cost her a love that promised a lifetime of happiness. Garrett didn't think much of "irresponsible" teen mothers. He knew firsthand the misery of being given away and searching for the acceptance he never could seem to find. Although he found himself drawn closer and closer to Dione because of her independence and passionate determination, his painful past kept getting in the way. Now Garrett and Dione must find their way to each other through a search only the heart can undertakeand only love can bring.
The systems of racism affected Blacks in such a way it tore our families apart and still are in modern times.. Redemption love and just holding on sometimes not all the time prevails..
The story was well written and the journey the characters faced was interesting. I felt apart of the story due to the situation and could empathies with the single mothers. Good read indeed.
This was your everyday romance novel. I have read other Donna Hill books, and she can definitely do better. I felt like some of the character and plot development was rushed in the novel, and it could have been much better had time been taken out to let things progress at a more even pace. It is an okay book, but nothing spectacular.
Chances Are is about teen mothers and the home that they lived in which was runned by Dione Williams who found herself pregnant and homeless at a very young age. After years of hard work determination she founded the home named Chances Are.
Great story of love, forgiveness and second chances!
Great story with a wonderful theme of unconditional love and forgiveness. The author did a great job of building the characters into real people with real issues.
