I'm Ali, and I write contemporary romcom novels about women in STEM and academia. I love cats, Nutella, and side ponytails. I'm also currently learning to crochet, so as you can tell I'm a super busy gal with an intense and exciting life!
I only use Goodreads as a reader, to review and hype books that I've loved (many of these book are ARCs received from fellow authors).
So i had read the bride from the six book. And it was so far so good until the spice scenes came. I didn’t like them. I think it was weird as hell ,especially with the tying/knotweed( im not sure how it translates in english) spicy scenes. Honestly it was disgusting and cringe-worthy. But apart from the spicy parts it was hilarious, funny and i loved reading it. I finished it in two days. I dont usually like the vampire x werewolf combo but in the beginning i actually enjoyed it in this book.
Book Review: The Bride by Ali Hazelwood✨ This was my first book by Ali Hazelwood, and while her writing style was strong and the storyline had potential, the pacing just didn’t work for me. It felt a little slow, and I didn’t fully connect with the characters—but maybe this one just wasn’t my cup of tea.
That said, I’m still curious about her other books and definitely open to giving them a try. Let me know which one I should pick up next! 👰♀️📚
So, The Bride was definitely a different vibe from Ali Hazelwood’s usual academia-based romances, but let’s be real—I still had a blast reading it! The plot twist wasn’t all that surprising, but somehow, I stayed completely hooked. And the reason? The dialogues. The sarcasm. MISERY. Her sharp wit had me grinning throughout, and the way she and Lowe interacted was just chef’s kiss.
Speaking of Lowe, Hazelwood’s heroes are always gentlemen, and he was no exception. The man regarded, respected, and loved deeply—just took his time fully showing it (as expected). But the spark between him and Misery? That was next level. Even when I had a good idea of where the story was heading, their chemistry kept me on edge.
And that marriage scene? When Lowe said, “How the fuck you smell like that?”( I hope I am not wrong with the exact quote😂) I just knew he had fallen hard. That moment made the whole book for me!
Romance-wise, it was smooth and well-paced. Hazelwood has a way of describing emotions that makes you feel like you’re right there with the characters. (Then again, I always feel that way when reading a good book.)
Would I rank it above The Love Hypothesis? Nope. But it was a fun ride, and I wouldn’t mind if she played around in this genre a little more.
Final verdict? The Bride wasn’t my absolute favorite of hers, but it was still a solid, enjoyable read.🌸
