Bound to an Overlord #2

The Pregnancy Pact

Rate this book
Earth was ripped apart during the Final War, but the alien Overlords have come down to save us.

Or have they?

What do you do when you wake up married to a total stranger?

Ellax: My wife and oldest son are both dead. My illegitimate son refused my offer to move to Asterion and become my heir, leaving me in a quandary. As a Lead Advisor and an Asterion Elder, I must have an heir. My problems are only worsened when, during a night of drunken spontaneity, I unwittingly marry a human female…and my colleagues decide a marriage between a human and a high-ranking Overlord such as myself might be the perfect way to foster unity between Asterion and our colony on Earth.

I disagree. Vehemently. But we’re being given no choice. And I do need a child…

Lorelai: After two decades of marriage, my husband’s multiple affairs were uncovered and I dropped him like a hot brick, choosing to start a new life as a records keeper onboard an alien space ship. Everything is going well, until I meet a gorgeous alien Overlord who seems as lonely as I am. Poor judgment and too much alcohol result in far more than a one-night stand. Turns out, we’re married, and his peers think we should stay that way. Since we can’t get out of this farce, I suggest a pact. A pregnancy pact. I give him a child. Afterward, he helps me rebuild an independent life when I’m ready.

Everything will be signed, sealed, and witnessed. However, neither of us could possibly imagine our simple bargain would uncover treachery in the Asterion government, a plot to destroy my fellow humans on Earth, and endanger our lives. Either this headstrong divorcée and an arrogant Asterion Elder will learn to trust each other, or we won’t survive long enough to uphold the terms of our pact.

Moriah Blackwood’s Bound to an Overlord series is spicy-sweet and steamy-clean. This means it's more than birthday cake, less than a ghost pepper. Your windows might fog, but the door ultimately stays shut. In other words, you get plenty of sizzle without the scorch. It is fade to black/"closed door" romance, perfect for those who want a story in-between "sweet and clean" and "spicy." Each full-length novel has a guaranteed HEA, no cliffhanger, and no cheating. This series is ideal for the reader who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Ruby Dixon, Victoria Aveline, Ursa Dax, and everything in-between.

If you love alien romance, sci-fi romance, space opera, dystopian, or spec fic romance in general, Moriah Blackwood is a must-read!

Plot twist at the end of chapter 9, WOAH! The irony in Ellaxs’ situation is absolutely hilarious to me. The way theres actual consequences to his “mistake” that he didn’t think would be there, is even better. Poor Lorelai though, I couldn’t imagine going through what she is, she a strong, beautiful soul who deserves better. As screwed up as the situation is, I feel like it may actually be good for them both in a way. I kinda hated Ellax at the beginning, now halfway through chapter 27, I think Im starting to actually like this alienman. Maybe if this works out for him, somehow he’ll be able to reconcile with Caide and his wife. Wishful thinking, I suppose… Ellax and Lorelai…. mates? Maybe he’s more like his bastard son than he thought he was. Charlie didn’t deserve Lorelai; the way she feels when talking or thinking about him is heartbreaking. Why does Serina hate the humans so much? Talking to Lorelai about her own species? Is she jealous of Lorelai being with Ellax? She’s an elder, she should want the unification of humans and her species, yet it seems as if unification is not the plan she has in mind. Huh… got my answers, but man… Serina needs to take all that hatred and use it for some good of some kind instead of seeking justice when she truly has no idea how the humans felt after seeing their world decimated and then spaceships starts landing and they have absolutely no idea there was any other species out there. I guarantee they way she thinks they felt and they way she believes they think are completely wrong and opposite of what was truly felt during that time. I HATE Serina. Hate. Hate. Hate. End of chapter 38? I would have LOST MY ISHHHHH. Serina continues to take things way too far and my hatred for her continues to grow stronger. Also, can I just say the imagery thus far is incredible. The details make every event so vivid! Shes pressing the Coalition for a vote simply out of spite, jealousy and revenge. So much hesitation from Ellax, yet so affectionate at the same time. It’s almost confusing. How the hell does she always manage to show up directly after Ellax leaves? It’s kind’ve scary 😂 Ellax seems to keep reminding himself that he’s trying to protect his wife, son, and daughter in law, but hasn’t reminded himself once of his wife’s two sons. Has he forgotten that she has them, or does he just not care? Does Serina really think there wont be any consequences to her current actions? Im so thankful for Doctor Natusha, but Lorelai….? FUCKKKK!!!! YAY OMG! ELLAX AND LORELAI😍😍 Im so excited again! I truly hope you continue this story! I would love to continue reading what happens with everyone. The cliffhanger is not fair and Im CRAVING more!

The Pregnancy Pact de Moriah Blackwood Serie Bound to an Overlord libro 2

Argumento:

¿O no?

Basta, no?

why was this recommended on a br33der fan site?

****closed door 🚪 romance****
They was no spice 🌶️🥵🌶️ in this 383 page book!! Like I get this book was free on stuff your kindle day, but I’m disappointed. This book was recommended to me on a FB fan page.

Loralei is almost 40 and looking to start a new life after a rough marriage and divorce. She meets a large and commanding male on a pleasure planet…

This book was predictable to me, I did not read the first book in the series but did not feel like I was missing out on anything. *standalone* (no dis to the author) I also realized I am not a fan of this writing style or type of romance this book offers. I love fantasy books I’ve read quite a few alien romance books, this one just missed the mark for me.

I was very curious to see if this book could take what was essentially a side villain in the first book and make them likable. And it worked! This second book has more character growth and thought than the first with more plot and a bigger picture perspective. I really liked the main characters and appreciated their support of each other. This is described as "steamy without spice", and I think that may be my new favorite spice level?

I'm hoping that widening the scope of this series means that more books are on the way.

Whirlwind Love Story

Who needs to go to Vegas when you can get drunk and wind up married in outer space just the same.

Lorelei and Ellax hook up in Drixus, but not really. They both get drunk, lay down to rest their eyes, and the next thing you know--they're married. Surprise.

While the book could have gone through a third edit and "Elder and Lead Advisor" could have not been repeated like some mantra, the book was a romantic, adventurous read.

Good story

Definitely could've used an editor. Missing words, misplaced words, and wrong words used. Even with those slight distractions, it was a good story. I think Ellax's change of heart was too abrupt. Adamantly opposed to his son having a human wife, but after a few days, he's ok having a human wife of his own? I don't buy it, but once I got past that, it was an enjoyable story.

This book was actually pretty good! The title sounded like it was going to be cheesy, but it wasn't.

I really enjoyed the worldbuilding and politics in this, but the romance felt rushed and not super believable.
I would've liked more "getting to know you" scenes, since it felt like they were more apart than together after they woke up married, but somehow they ended up deeply in love? Didn't make sense.

Now I need to go read the first book so I understand Ellax's redemption arc better.

Nice redemption story

It was nice to see Caide's Dad redeem himself. I kind of wish they had remembered there wedding and what they had talked about to make those choices. The captains video recording made it seem like they were blissful happy and sure in there choices. Ah well, all's well that ends well.

So the bad guy at the end of the previous book - the bigoted father who wanted his bastard son to come home and rule in his stead - is suddenly the hero of this book?! Suuuuuuure. And he’s into this geriatric woman that we are not certain can have kids.

Aaaand I loved it! It's such a fun and exciting story. Lorelie and her overlord, Ellax, have such an intense relationship, and we get to see them handle all the ups and downs that come their way.

Here are some of the highlights I enjoyed the most:
There’s a great moment when they have their first big argument. I love how Ellax was taken aback by how boldly Lorelie spoke her mind.

And then, of course, there's the hilarious part where they get a bit too drunk and realize they have to deal with the consequences! From "I do" to "I did whaaaaaat?!"

Lorelie is just amazing! She's strong and sharp and has the best comebacks. I love how she stands her ground with Ellax and isn’t afraid to speak her mind.

The story is told from both of their points of view, which makes it even better because I really get to understand both characters.

Whenever Ellax calls Lorelie "My love," I find it so endearing.

And I always cheer when the bad guys don't win.

It’s so satisfying to see Lorelie and Ellax get the happy ending they deserve.

This book is filled with non-stop excitement!
