Thanatos has been called many names over the centuries. Most recently, humans call him the Grim Reaper.
He’s made of nothing but bone and robes, his scythe his only companion as he rules over his reapers.
Thanatos emotions have dimmed, he’s become as hollow as the marrow that should fill his bones and he prefers it that way. He doesn’t get attached, he doesn’t love or find joy in what he does.
Until one day, when the Queen of the Underworld has a special mission for him--to let a human live instead of what Fate had planned for her. The request brings anger that he hasn’t felt in years.
The queen wanted this human to live.
No one asks the Reaper for favors.
Thanatos eventually finds the woman in the back alley, her life force flickering. He was ready to take her soul, despite the Queen’s begging. Thanatos would guide this human soul to a place of eternal rest, escaping the hardships it had endured over the years. Except when he found her near lifeless body and saw the glimmer of hope in those clover-colored eyes—
He decided he wanted her all to himself. He wanted to confine her in the eerie depths of the Underworld, where darkness enveloped every corner, denying her both life and death and be with him as his companion. Forever.
There isn’t enough time to write everything that’s wrong with this author’s writing. I’ll just toss out a few things.
It’s ALL tell. No show.
A good portion of the time, I have absolutely no idea WTAF is going on.
This is the second sentence in the book. “I pulled along the stones until picked it up and set it in front of me again, hearing the pang against the cobblestone.”
Here’s another sentence. SMH. “I felt him enter my mind, and when he had seen past rescues, he forbad his queen for ever going with me.”
Words are repeated CONSTANTLY. For example, “He created this garden for her. Everything about this garden appeared to be alive and vibrant. The fiery world they inhabited seemed almost distant compared to this garden of life…” That’s one paragraph.
It’s some of the most immature and uneducated KU work I’ve come across in a long time. I can’t tell if the author is a kid, English is her second language or if she’s just dümb. Regardless, I’m done. Absolutely DNF.
I liked this book at the beginning. I rlly liked the female leads nicknames and her thinking out loud. It was funny. The MLS growth was good. Most of their smutt scenes were hot, tho a few funky wordings. I feel like we needed more backstory. How does after 4 years our FML decide to save someone. I didn't like how fast they got together. With the FMLS trauma it didnt feel geunine how desperate she wanted to sleep with him. And her strip dancing for him when that was her hell. It was like flipping a switch from when the fml was at the strip club vs rescused. Complete personality change. Its granted she feels safe she will act different but it was too much of a fast switch like she wasn't traumatised. I felt like with the strip tease, they erased PTSD just for them to have sex. I didn't like the controlling ownership sht either. Or the childlike writing of 1 of the ladies esp when regarding their sex. Having the male gods have tantrums and behave like chidlren also gave me a ick. It also felt like a small plot was made to further along their sex. Making medusa a rapist vs a victim was a little messed up since medusa is often used as a survivior of rape people tattoo. The lines about not wanting yo share their mates breasts with any newborn they have was also big ick. Makes the MLS so unattractive. The ML impregnating the FML on purpose without her consent or knowledge cuz he learned about breeding kinks made me nauseous. The uriel lucifer bonus woth uriel acting like a child for sex was a little horrifying - creepy her virgnity reseals each time. Felt like a pedos dream
Juniper was trapped in a human trafficking ring, not only trying to survive but also keep the other victims alive so they could escape. She had no clue that the gods were watching and the Fates had already made plans. Thanatos, the God of Death usually sent his reapers to handle things earth side but Ember sent him to save a woman who would die if he didn't step in to save her. Juniper didn't know that the gods existed, and Thanatos didn't think he'd ever find his mate but the Fates gave them both what they needed most. I love Juniper as an FMC, especially the fact that she accidentally thinks out loud, it makes the story so much more interesting. She is strong but because of the shadows of her past doesn't think she shouldn't exist. "Bone daddy" Thanatos hasn't felt emotions for a long time, meeting his mate has sparked them back to life but he's so awkward because he doesn't know how to use them or respond. They are such a perfect part, and I love seeing some characters from previous books in this series too. Vera Foxx is one of my top fated mates authors and she hit it out of the park again. I can't wait for the next book from all of her current series.

I loved Thanatos' Craving!! The mythological gods that we learned about come alive in Foxx's story. Thanatos, the god of death is a skeleton who doesn't feel emotions. Ember, the goddess of the underworld and Hades’ mate can see future mates. One of her goals is to protect people from trafficking, as she was a victim of it. Thanatos and Ember know of a strip club that is a front for sex trafficking and she sends Thanatos to save the life of a particular victim, Juniper, as Ember told him that she was someone's mate and that he must bring her back alive.
When Thanatos finds Juniper, she is barely alive. He has an intense reaction to her and wants her for himself. She is brought to the Underworld and is healed. Even though she only knows Thanatos in his skeletal form, she is somehow connected to him. Over time, their relationship shifts, and Thanatos discovers that his existence is more than capturing souls.
It's a wonderful story that describes the drama, love, and complex relationships that the gods have. I couldn't put it down. The bonus scenes of Uriel and Lucifer, as well as Mariah and Ares are delightful!

Wow what a fantastic book and having not yet read the others which I’ll definitely be going back to do I found myself immersed in the under world where Hades and Ember rule and to say there kids where a riot was an understatement. Juniper is a human that does everything to survive in the human sex trafficking ring and now she is close to death after trying to escape she welcomes it. Thanatos is the God of Death or to the humans the Grim Reaper and rules over all reapers but when Queen Ember of the underworld asks him to save the human female because she is a mate to someone he is not happy and he doesn’t do favors so instead of sending someone else he goes to collect the soul himself and when he see’s the human female close to death he decides to have her healed in the underworld and to keep her for himself. When juniper is saved by Thanatos she only wants to be with him because she feels drawn to him and he is thrilled she wants him and realizes she is his mate. This was such a great book and I look forward to the next one and hopefully it’s his twin brother Hypnos story.

It took me a moment to realize who Thanatos was because he wasn't as popular as the others but I can say I did enjoy his and Juniper's story is a descent read. Juniper is a likeable character and Thanatos was a well...definitely an opposite attracts type of situation. Reason for my 3.5 stars ...as others mentioned I'm not a fan how the author went about the Medusa part. Vera Foxx has always changed the stories of the Greek gods even down to the children but I think the Medusa being the sexual attacker went a little too far given that Medusa is a a common symbol for rape victims so to make her the rapist I don't think was a good idea.
On another note...I'm patiently been waiting for when Zeus gets his book especially now given his abuse...I wonder if Hera will be the one to keep him regarding his mate? And I'm also curious who is this warlock locked waiting now needs saving by his mate who is unknown to everyone.

Thanatos is the god of death in the Underworld and works with Hades and his mate, Ember. They are all working to stop human sex trafficking and Ember tells him he must not reap a woman as she is a mate to someone. As he has not been flesh for a couple of centuries and his twin is Hypnos, the god of sleep/dreams. Things go nuts and the children of Hades are a riot. There is Lucifer who is mated, then Loki, who is always in trouble as is his sister, Lilith. Their antics are EPIC. lol. I found the whole story to be inspirational, scary, beautiful, charming and I Loved it. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Vera takes us back to the underworld and to breaking up human trafficking rings with this one. Juniper has survived years playing a balancing act only to burn it to the ground in a last attempt to do the right thing, and in turn is on death’s doorstep. Thanatos is sent to her with the task to save her, and he doesn’t bend the rules of reaping souls. Fate has other plans and watching Thanatos get in touch with his long lost emotions while he evolves with his mate Juniper is great! Also, getting to see so many of our favorites from Bergarian and the Gods books is a fav. FLUFFY!!!🥰
Vera did it again! Another God's series that kept you on the edge of your seat! Our bone daddy finds his curvey, sexy mate in the most unexpected of places. Like most of our female leads, this one has another traumatic back story that she needs to work through. And bone daddy needs to work on learning emotions! He's still possessive and gives major 'touch her and you die- literally' vibes. As with all of Vera's books, this one is an HEA.
This can be read as a standalone or in order of the Under the Moon series.
I loved this book because it had the sweet stuff balanced with the dark stuff (Check author's content warning) in such a way that the book didn't have the heavy feeling that books can get when dealing with difficult topics.
Juniper and Thanatos were great as fated mates. I love fated mate stories, especially when the characters aren't perfect. Juniper speaks before she thinks and Thanatos is just awkward as.
If steamy scenes with a skeleton with angel wings are your jam. Then this is the story for you.
Dnf around 50%. It's way too verbose (repetitions, long sentences AND shiny words for the bingo card) while nothing much is happening: You could cut half of the writing material & not feel like you're losing anything. Even a sexy reaper with giant wings can't keep me on board because of all the silliness (we won't talk about the pets names, you'll have your eyes rolling under the sofa) undermining the majestic and the humbling.
Wow - new take on Greek gods and myths . I loved this and was enthralled with our bone daddy. Hades wife ember is asked Thanatos help with rescuing a human female about to die in a supernatural human trafficking. Ring . The spiciness is off the charts. I could not stop once I started reading. I am looking forward to finding other books from this author.

I first discovered this author on a pay-by-chapter app years ago. I was thrilled to find her books on Kindle Unlimited, which gave me the perfect opportunity to revisit the Under the Moon series. I was especially excited to finally finish the Under the Moon: God Series. Both series exceeded my expectations, and I was delighted to fall in love with the stories all over again.
Thanatos known as the grim reaper to many this day, didnt need love, or emotions to rule his life in death, but when the queen of the underowrld begs for Junipers soul to be saved he goes to take her, but finds hes only taking her for himself. well written steamy hot, human/gods, desires drama and more.

Thanatos and Juniper’s story is so beautiful and amazing, both characters are so interesting and unique and their love story is beautiful!! Add in the other gods and familiar spirit it’s an amazing story!! Vera keeps creating amazing stories you just want to read again and again!!
Oh this was such a great read! Not disappointed in the least! Wish we would have gotten a small glimpse of him in a prior book but it was so sweet and loved the whole thing! Can't wait for more! Aweso.e as always Vera!
