Absolutely loved the concept of this book. The idea and prose of it all felt very Gaiman-esque to me, and I'm a huge Gaiman fan. I won't give the story away, sans that there's a magical dreamscape that people all pulled into 'chosen' as the books says, and in said dreamscape, there's an evil villain out to get them.
It's a cool book.
Reasons why I'm not rating it higher:
It's short. 160 pages is not really a novel, it's a novella. Advertising it as a novel left me a little disappointed in its length. Which leads me to...
It's short! Too short! This was a wonderful idea and the story was clipped with inadequate scenes of dialogue, and scenes of action and confrontation that are in my opinion, woefully short. If the author went back and added another 10,000 words, I'd add a star to this review immediately.
I also didn't care for the abrupt ending, but that plays into the length complaint.
Great concept. Great idea. Good editing. But very short, and it left a lot of story on the table.
