What's my story? Oh, you know how it goes. A classic retelling of guy down on his luck just trying to make ends meet. Until a whole new world is opened to me. You see, monsters are real and the bounties on these monsters pay really, really well.
But If I'm going to go toe to toe with what goes bump in the night I'll also need some help. It turns out loyalty makes you related not blood and I'm surrounded by family. From a senile old watcher of a supernatural court to monster-slaying bounty hunter, they'll show me the ropes.
And I better learn fast because my love life is as complicated as my nemesis. A one Victoria Frankenstein won't give me a chance until I can earn her trust and there's a fallen angel on the loose hell-bent on opening a portal to the other side.
This box set includes: Book 1 Hunters for Hire Booke 2 Town Lore Book 3 All Valley Tournament

DEFINITELY A DIFFERENT VIEW. AN HUMBLE HERO WHO GROWS INTO WHAT HIS WORLD NEEDS.
Yanez has created the kind of hero we wished for when we were very young and selflessness was what was what all parents displayed. Its an entertaining fantasy that's great reading. (It may take some late nights, but you can live without the poor quality TV scripting. Most of the "sup's" are familiar, though Baba Yega I learned from John Wick. The first three books are a great romp through a magic world.
Well developed story with appealing characters and a hero that you cannot help but root for. I've read the first three books and will continue be with the rest.... I want to see what happens. Highly recommend these books for all who enjoy urban fantasy or just a good time. Well done Mr Yanez.
Cannot do it. I read as far as the end of Book 2 and quit. I should have stopped at the close of Book 1. The main character, Johnnie, is a struggling Hollywood model. His roommate is more successful, and also dates a lot. Johnnie’s girlfriend dumps him on Valentine’s Day. And then there are vampires, and what seems to be a witch, and a big dog no it’s a hellhound. And a chimera. I am ok with supernatural, but don’t keep layering it up on me. Let me get used to the living dead and the maybe witch before adding more and more strange. But Book 2 added in more, and all from different kinds of folktales and fantasies. The nice vampire almost completely vanishes in the second book, but there’s a gangsta pixie, a female Frankenstein, a cowboy ghost, fallen angels, a married archangel, and an army of skeletons. I am too old; thirty years or so ago I would have held on. It just isn’t for me.

I loved these first three books and am excited about the next three. The series has a great cast of characters with John Hunter at the center. Even though the story has many battle scenes and all kinds of mythical creatures, it is still somewhat funny and lighthearted. The stories kept calling me back to them and I've barely turned the tv on during the last few days.
I enjoyed the first three books, but they need a pass through edit to fix some things. The errors are just enough to pull you out of the story. The humor is great, and Jonathan spins a pretty good yarn. Characters are likable and easy to relate to. Just a little work on syntax and the edits to polish it up would make a world of difference. Definitely plan on reading more of the series. Good work.
It was a little bit of a slow start but the humor and new twists kept me intrigued in the first book but book 2 and book 3 were so good. I love action fantasy with humor. AJ Aalto was the first author to capture fantasy, action and humor years ago and got me to love reading again. I believe I have found another. So Glad I got the series with the first 3 books . ‘Send me!’ to the next book in this series.I can’t wait to read to see what happens.
I generally don’t care for things that involve angels and demons as there is too much room to offend. Through the first 3 books, which as I read as a bundle, the author has kept from crossing any major lines. The additional supernatural elements are well done if a bit stretched here and there by adding familiar characters of lore. All in all, a pleasant experience.
I am really enjoying reading / listening to this series! The characters are very well written, the storylines are excellent with plot twists you don't always see coming, and quite a bit of humor amongst the story. I'm really enjoying the series. I have been listening to it on Audible and reading it on my Kindle. I think the voice actor is doing an amazing job with the different characters. Overall, I'm excited for the next book!
Hunters for Hire Books 1-3 An urban fantasy series box set was extremely hard to put down. Full of interesting characters and stories of their backgrounds some are easy enough and others tight lipped and secret held tight. Rather intricate relationships occurring, The story is like riding a roller coaster with dips, rolls and turns which leaves a reader wondering what just happened
I was very hopeful about enjoying these books and they are generally good stories. I had to mark it down as it just didn’t work for me, there were too many jumps, not enough good characters that I could see as people, bit slow in places especially the first book. I think it’s a gentle beach read version of the story when I wanted more action and strong characters.
I really enjoyed this - John is a character very easy to relate to - he thinks like we probably would, he’s kind , and funny as hell. It’s one of those series you start reading, get sucked in, and don’t get much else done because you can’t put that book down. Seriously guys, it’s well worth reading.
Great storyline of supernatural proportion. It keeps me reading when I should be doing housework. Just enough description of the fights to keep me reading and laughing out loud at times, but not hurling my cookies. surprise end of a beginning.
Good against Evil! Monsters exist! Humanity lives in innocence!
Great characters and plots for those who love monsters and those who contain them! Of course humanity must be kept ignorant! Enjoyed this box set! I bet you will!
I really enjoy this series. Great character development sprinkled with enough humor and drama to balance each other perfectly. A must read for all urban fantasy fans!
The stories start out pretty light and definitely fast paced. The characters are interesting and kinda fun, filling in more and more as we progress. Lots of literary and pop culture names and references dropped in new and unusual ways.
I am loving this series so much! Some of the characters are a bit too on the nose, but other than that the world, creatures, and storyline have me hooked! Can’t wait to start the next book!
There are a lot of mixed elements in here, from figures out of mythology and legends to monsters from an older novel. Somehow, the author stirred all of this together until it made sense.
Loved these books quite a turn pager. One man going from nothing to something special and more. Great characters throughout and well written although a few typos can be found
Great read. I loved all the characters and their interactions with each other. I read the first three books with Kindle unlimited, and now I will have to purchase the rest, which for me having Kindle unlimited is very rare.
A lot of potential here. I finished it hoping to see that fulfilled but, sadly, no. Characters are flat and undeveloped. The promised humor never gelled. The plot was all over the place.
What a rollicking good time! Love the male model turned superhero. A reluctant, confused, and pretty unsure of himself superhero, but saves the day. And the Hellhound? Good boy!!
I saw any ad for this on Facebook. I clicked the link and I borrowed it from Kindle. I'm enjoying it. It's fun! Funny! Johnny is cute. I can't wait to finish the series
