One fateful decision turned into the scariest moment of her life…but it also led her to him.

Josie couldn’t believe she was a prisoner of war. Not that she was in the military, or that they were at war, but she’d been thrown into a cell and left to die all the same. And she was going to die. Of that she was certain. Until a real-life hero was thrown into the cell next to hers.

Navy SEAL Nate “Blink” Davis couldn’t believe he was on another mission that had gone sideways. At least this time no one had died. He had no doubt his team would break him out, he just had to be patient. But when he realized he wasn’t alone in the dark dank prison, his entire world shifted.

The woman in the cell next to him was in bad shape. And he wasn’t going to leave her. It wasn’t even an option. However, like the SEAL motto, The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday, Blink and Josie would find out exactly how true that was when they got back to the “real world” and realized their troubles were only starting.

I really enjoyed Blink and Josie's story. This book had me hooked, and I finished it in one day, it is the small details in books like these I appreciate. In this one it was a small cup that made a big impact.

Super excited for Casper's story in the new series..

Protecting Josie❤️‍🩹

Protecting Josie is the next story in the Seal of Protection Alliance series and focuses on Nate aka Blink and Josie.

Blink is asked to accompany a different team to the same region where he lost his previous teammates. Thinking he survived and needs this to redeem himself, he goes without telling his new teammates and finds himself captured and thrown into a dirty cell….only to discover he’s not alone😳

Josie is fighting to survive and after being captured and forgotten in her cell, she’s immediately captivated by the handsome man who is left in the next cell over. Not being able to talk with Nate about why she’s there, Nate talks to her instead.

This story was fantastic. I loved how amazing Nate was with Josie and the chemistry they have. I also enjoyed glimpses into Maggie and Bree, who I know will be getting books next…I just can’t wait🙌

Finding love in a small cup of water

I loved, loved this military romance with its perfect balance of love, real life issues, palpable danger, and spicy romance. This heart warming story includes two strong, intense, and passionate main characters who are real, relatable people who have flaws and make mistakes, but are really just trying to just do their best being messy humans. I have a soft spot for the people who are a bit uncomfortable in their skin because they don’t feel like they fit in, like Nate and Josie. So I love when they finally see their worth and their truth and get swoon worthy HEAs. Josie was visiting her soon to be ex boyfriend soldier when they drifted into Iranian waters and she ended up forgotten and starving to death in a cell. When Nate sacrifices his freedom for his SEAL team, he is thrown into an adjoining cell. Nate and Josie form an instant connection and are rescued together. Thus begins the journey to their HEA. To get to there, they’ll just need to deal with danger and past trauma along with their overwhelming fast feelings. Nate and Josie’s love story has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, spice, dangerous heart stopping action, painful pasts, strong friendships, swoons, and laughs. Expect to feel all the things - fear, love, anger, redemption, tears, joy, and so much all encompassing, nurturing, protective love. Susan Stoker is a master of balancing a story of romance, danger, and personal growth. And while most of us will never be in the dangerous situations the main characters are a part of, the author nevertheless makes who they are as people so relatable and real that it is easy to fall in love with them. I cannot wait to hear what happens next for the men in Seal of Protection: Alliance series.

Another winning story by my favorite military- related romance suspense author!

Susan Stoker always delivers a compelling masterpiece romance suspense novel and Protecting Josie, the third book in her SEAL of Protection:Alliance series, is no exception! The story is definitely intense, full of death-defying escapes across land, sea and mountains, as well as helicopter crashes, kidnapping and more. Protecting Josie is also full of emotions at times, random acts of kindness, unexpected friendships, love and lots of laughter. Susan takes her time slowly developing the three dimensional personalities of her two main characters in this book, Nate "Blink" Davis and Josie England so that by the time you reach the end of this story you know these two as well as you know your own siblings! Susan Stokers character developmental is phenomenonal! In Protecting Josie she creates some of the most believable heroes, heriones, survivors and in general, awesome strong people I have ever had the pleasure reading about! In every book each hero is matched with his perfect soulmate and for Blink Davis there is no doubt that Josie is his. You can feel the electricity between the characters tingling in your fingertips as you read. The themes of family, friendship and security as well as the inevitable happily ever after ending , Makes my heart sing.

You won't want to miss one book in SEAL of Protection:Alliance series, especially Protecting Josie. Congratualtions, Susan Stoker, you have another winning novel with Protecting Josie. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

PROTECTING JOSIE (SEAL of Protection: Alliance #3) Written by Susan Stoker and is a Military Romance, Romantic Suspense and there is some darkness, but all is well in the end. There is not one book by Susan Stoker that I've not been caught up in till The End!

Josie England had been convinced by her military boyfriend to come overseas for a visit. Her boyfriend wanted to take her for a boat ride, even when she didn't want to go. He carelessly ended up in Iran's water, he was shot to death, and Josie was a prisoner of war that was thrown in a cell and left to die. She was given no food, but she was collecting water in a cup that was dripping in her cell. She knew she'd die with nothing but water. But just when she was ready to give up, her captors threw another prisoner into the cell next to her. He was a Navy SEAL named Nate Davis or nicknamed Blink. She took comfort in having someone else at least close to her. They completely ignored her and tortured the poor man next to her. When he's not given water or food, she brings her precious water cup to him and insisted that he'd drink, she won him over with her kindness. She hadn't talked for so long she didn't have the strength anymore to talk. Nate talked to her and even though he was not a talker, he did it for her. He decided when his team finally came to get him out, that she was going with him. He would not leave her behind. He gave her hope, and she held on. He had a new mission in life, and it was Josie, only he called her Spirit!

Powerful, emotional, and unforgettable.
Out of all the books in the SEAL of Protection: Alliance series, Protecting Josie is hands down my favorite. These military/SEAL romances often follow a predictable pattern—but this one stands out completely.

Josie and Blink weren’t just thrown into a typical rescue plot. They were held captive, beaten, and traumatized together. It sounds dark—and it is—but that shared experience added such raw emotional depth. Josie wasn’t a typical heroine who instantly trusts the guy because she has no other choice. She was broken, distant, and ready to give up. Blink didn’t save her with grand gestures—he earned her trust, piece by piece.

Their bond was built through shared pain, slow healing, and true connection. There was a lot of push and pull between them, and it wasn’t predictable. You didn’t know how it would end. Watching them both grow—individually and together—was one of the most gripping emotional arcs I’ve read in this genre.

Honestly, I would love to see a spin-off or second book with a similar structure. This story had more heart, depth, and grit than most books like it—and Blink and Josie deserve all the praise.

Highly recommend—this one will stay with me.

Yes, yes, a million times yes.

After meeting Blink in Protecting Remi, I was fully expecting Susan to make us wait until the very end for Blink's story. Thankfully that didn't occur.

Nate has been through so much in the recent past, and now his life is being flipped again. This current mission he's on has had its ups and downs to say the least. I think him finding Josie (aka Spirit) there in that cell was beneficial for both of them. He had someone to "lean on" and talk to, and she found out she wasn't alone even though it felt like it.

Them being rescued made me smile especially with how it all went down. The helicopter ride was wild for certain. The new characters we met though were memorable and I cannot wait to read about them in future stories.

Josie and Nate definitely bonded during their time in captivity, and maybe trauma bonded a bit as well. I loved how protective Nate was, and it wasn't just him being a SEAL. It was 100% who he was/is.

Oh and that drama that unfolded? OH MY WORD. I can't even. But again it introduced us to a future character and my curiosity is piqued.

Could not put this book down, and am bummed that the rest of the series isn't available quite yet. Once it is though I am diving right back in.

A cute and perfect military romance to distract yourself with

Between flights, I needed something light and sexy to read, and this romance was perfect for me !

So yes, it's unrealistic with a cascade of twists and turns (the girl disappears into an Iranian prison and NO ONE knows ??) and way too corny (true love at first sight ><), but sometimes we need this kind of romance =)

In short, a cute and sexy romance to read for fun !

Susan stoker you have done it again I love when you take your stories And then bring the plot line back to the fold Of all the previous characters from all your past books it wonderful to sit back in that rocking chair and just revel in the wonferful. caring. badass men that take care
of their equally bad ass women.
blink was awesome to get to know in Remis story so I enjoyed his storyline equally, especially when the heroine appears.
I had to wrinkle a brow when my awesome brilliant as bs sharp tex came up a bit short when it came to the search part of the story but it worked itself out, in my mind anyway, as the gut instinct of blink and his team mates is what solved the outcome.
What I do worry about sometimes is the pint sized women that Susan creates iin her writing and she pairs them with. These albeit wonderful, giant of men makes me wonder. All sorts of things.like babies etc.
great narration. great suspense times. scary parts, romantic interludes, steamy times and the Inclusion of all my faves was the icing on the cake
just enjoyed a wonderful feel good novel with suspense and action thrown in.

One of the most tense beginnings of any Susan Stoker book. (I think she writes just about the best beginnings of stories of any military/romantic suspense authors!)

I'd been looking forward to Blink's story since he played such a vital supporting role in PROTECTING REMI, the first book in the SEAL of Protection: Alliance series. But Josie stole the show for me. Such strength of character packed into a tiny heroine. She went from being forgotten and voiceless to surrounded by friends, support and love. She and Blink were both terribly damaged characters, and needed each other to heal, and to believe in love again. There were some funny moments where I giggled right along with Josie. ;) Nice cameo from Tex, too.

My one nitpicky thing: As much as I love Dude, Mozart, Wolf, et al from the original SEAL of Protection series, I almost feel like the retired SEALs and their wives are getting too much page time in this series. I'd love to see more of the Alliance team. See them working/relaxing together. Get to know them and their back stories more. These are their books.

But this was a great read.

4.5 stars!

I am definitely glad we didn't have to wait until the last book to figure out Blink's story. Given that's Stoker's MO, I was surprised (and laughed when she called herself out for that in the last book).

Poor Josie hasn't had an easy time. When she finally worked up the nerve to end the relationship with her deployed boyfriend, all goes to hell. He invites her out for a boat ride in Kuwait and she ends up in a cell without food or water or hope. When she finally comes to term with the idea that she will likely starve to death, she gets a cell mate.

Nate 'Blink' Davis knew being a POW would be rough, but he wasn't planning on coming across a civilian. He knows his time will get them out, but he also knows he can't leave without Josie. This rescue will be the biggest one of his life.

I loved their chemistry from the very beginning. Her inability to speak for a majority of the book made their romance more interesting (especially since Blink wasn't a chatterer to begin with).

My only criticism would be over the villains -- they were a little weak. However, I still really enjoyed this one.

I love this series more and more the more books I read.

Josie made the unfortunate decision to visit her Army boyfriend in Kuwait, even though she knew he was cheating. When they went out on a boat trip, and he was killed and she captured, her life descended into hell. Navy SEAL Blink, Nate, was on a mission in the region when he too was captured and thrown into a cell right next to Josie. Nate and Josie bond instantly, and when he escapes with the help of his team, he takes her with him. They return to the states and she moves in with him, but an unexpected danger is coming for Josie, and Nate and his team are going to have to work hard to keep her safe.

I absolutely loved Josie! She was such a complex character, even though she didn't say a lot. In a way, the fact that she expressed herself in different ways for most of the book was so creative. It gave her a lot of depth and emotion. She was so strong, so feisty. She and Nate were so in tune with each other it was so wonderful.

Nate, usually the quiet one, had to be the voice in this book. He talked so much, and everyone was so amazed to see it. He knew Josie's mood and personality inside and out, and the nickname he gave her, Spirit, made my heart clench. He loved her so fiercely, as did his team. That's the thing I love about these books, you get to see all the characters, and their wives, and the way they love and interact with each other is just so fun.

bello e doloroso
quattro stelle e mezzo

Boy...if it wasn't for bad luck, I think Josie would have no luck. How awful for her to end up where she was and why. You could tell she was reaching the end, ready to give up when Nate showed up. Of course it didn't help right away, he was in the same boat as her, but just having a person there seemed to perk her up.

I loved that Nate didn't want to leave her behind and how later after everyone learned her story, all the guys felt the same, they did what they could to have her back.

Seeing Josie build her life back, this time with Nate at her side was great! She was so joyful in gaining friends, even as they did simple things together, but when they went over the top...it was like she was shining in everything.

I hated the drama that came towards the end, such petty people all blaming Josie for nothing she was at fault with. It was great that Josie knew that Nate would be there to take care of things and sure enough, she was right.

As ever a totally absorbing story by this great author. However this is quite dark but does eventually have a HEA. It actually shows the inhuman ways humans can treat other human beings , to gain power, information and manipulation. Rosie finds herself in a dreadful situation after being coerced by her then boyfriend and his family to join him in the Middle East. She however wanted to finish the relationship, but fate took a twist. Blink, or Nate finishes up in a similar position when he acts to safe his own team. In the depth of despair and torment a friendship forms, and eventually freedom is achieved. The characters are as ever so real. Blink is one Alpha male, who although quiet with some is not so with Rosie, alias Spirit. The story is at times sometimes difficult to read, but is sympathetically written, and very necessary to describe the storyline fully. New characters are introduced, old one intermingle resulting in a great novel.

So strong and resilient...

Not just Josie but Blink too. They have both suffered, they may have been knocked down for a little while, but at no point did they give in. And whilst the bond they form is in the horrific conditions and terror of being POW, it is still a beautiful bond. Even in the silence they offer each other hope and a reason to continue fighting, but finally hearing Josie speak to Nate...it brought tears to my eyes and he fell for his Spirit all over again. Blink has fought hard to return to where he is and although he has a close relationship with Remi, I love that he has now found Josie. Their love may be hard won, but it is pure and true...and forever.
We also have a great crossover with the stars of the new Rescue Angels series, sexy and crazy pilots - Nightstalkers, I look forward to this and Nate's twin Tate gets the first book!

love unexpected

Nate/Blink and Josie. A horrible way to meet, but also a blessing for Josie in the short term and both in the long term. The team is fantastic and so are the women they have fallen for. Tex and Wolf are present and so is Caroline. I love having favorites show up in other series. Josie is so strong and I adored how she still communicated without her voice when necessary. The danger was of a different source than many other books, but quite fitting and just as horrific near the end. Justice was had and the added element of community support was creative and fantastic. Nate has a twin and his role in this book was fortuitous and humorous. I can’t wait for his story and seeing more of the twins interact! I wonder if we also met another upcoming female love interest or story with the additional rescue who disappeared near the end of the book.

Susan Stoker delivers another heart-pounding, emotionally gripping romance in "Protecting Josie". From the very first page, the tension is palpable as Josie finds herself in a life-or-death situation, only to be met with the unshakable strength of Navy SEAL Nate "Blink" Davis. Their connection, forged in the darkest of circumstances, feels raw, real, and deeply compelling.

Stoker masterfully blends action, suspense, and romance, making it impossible to put this book down. Blink is the perfect mix of protector and partner, while Josie’s resilience makes her a heroine to root for. Their journey doesn’t end with their escape—it’s just the beginning of a beautifully written, deeply emotional battle for healing and love.

Fans of military romance and strong, protective heroes will absolutely love this book. Another winner in the SEAL of Protection: Alliance series!

Great read

Awesome story. I thought we'd have to wait to get Blink's story, but here it is. Where does he meet his forever love? Both were taken "prisoner" to be beaten and Josie (who has been forgotten in the cell, basically left to starve to death). The famous Tex comes into the picture via a tracker that is in the band of Blink's underwear. So, they get rescued and their story continues but of course the danger continues throughout the book.
At the very end, it leaves a tease to the next book in the series. So excited and impatient for the next book, Preacher's turn.
If you haven't already started this series, the first 3 books are just as good and all can be read as it's own book. It's not necessary to read the books in order but I like to as you will then know the stories of the other women and their Seals.

Sweet and Action Packed

Susan Stoker does it again. There is a reason she’s the queen of military romance, and this book is another feather in her cap. Josie and Blink are great together. Both damaged from past experiences but determined to move forward and live their lives. I appreciated the resilience of them both, the quiet strength and determination. The way they were able to communicate while Josie was struggling to speak was such a perfect demonstration of their bond.

One of my favorite aspects of all Susan Stoker’s books is the group dynamics. The unwavering friendships, loyalty and support they give each other is unmatched. Even the big, tough military men talk feelings and go out of their way to make sure their fellow Seals are good emotionally and mentally. If we were all blessed with this kind of love and support, the world would be a better place.

Protecting Josie by Susan Stoker

This is Blink (Nate) and Josie’s story. They met in an Iranian jail. She had been captured when her boyfriend crossed the boat into the wrong territory. He was killed and she was taken. Blink was captured because he made himself a decoy so the rest of the team could escape. Blink was in the cell next to Josie. Her captors hadn’t fed nor given her water but there was a small leak in her cell that she was able to get water from. She gave Blink her water to help him survive. His team rescued both of them. Josie stayed with Blink in Riverton rather than returning to Vegas. Her ex’s family hated her as she survived and the ex didn’t. Even though it was the ex’s fault that he was killed. Blink and Josie had a lot of drama happen before they got their HEA but they got there.

Protecting Josie is a great addition to a series that had already hooked me. The SEAL of Protection: Alliance has already stolen my heart, and Protecting Josie dug it even deeper. I adore Blink and Josie. I could do without the detailed sex, but that is part of Susan Stoker's appeal to many, and I love her books. I appreciate that we get to spend at least some time characters that we have long felt a connection with as well as others from the current series. To be a Stoker fan is to feel part of the lives of every character in all of her books. Strength, humor, kindness, and integrity from all of the people is only part of the characteristics that make them matter to us, but it is an important part.

Second Chances Don't All Suck!

For Blink having to go back to Iran where all of his original seal team except for himself and a few others were not killed was almost impossible. But getting captured so his current team could escape capture meant the world to Blink, but when the prisoner in the next cell shared the water well there was no way he could leave her behind. Josie had only gone to Iran to break up with her ex, but bc he was a moron he got himself killed and Josie captured. The fact she and Blink had something special just leads them both to realise that Second Chances Don't All Suck! Highly Recommend to Anyone and Everyone. Fast paced, Sexy as hell with a Fantastic Story Line. 👍🌹🩷💜🩵🇦🇺🙏

Protecting Josie grabbed my attention from the very first page. Blink, who we met in Protecting Remi, was captured by Iranian rebels and thrown into a prison and tortured. Josie had been tossed into an adjoining cell weeks before and left to die. Her innate kindness, sharing life-giving water with Blink, was the beginning of a love that would withstand any obstacles that were thrown in their path.
I love that Susan included characters from previous books in the story. And we were introduced to Blink's twin Tate! I think this is one of Susan Stoker's best books and look forward to the rest of the series.

5 stars for Protecting Josie by Susan Stoker

Another amazing read for an amazing series of this Seal family of hot alpha heroes and their strong partners. Josie and Blink are so similar in their way of thinking and about life. It is so great to see Blink find his forever, although the storyline of the captivity is very disturbing. Josie is so strong. Blink is very protective but not shy to show his emotions to Josie. Love that. It was nice to see Blink's twin brother. Can't wait for his story. Very important storyline. Can't wait for the next installment of the Seal of Protection Alliance series.

love blink

Blink may be my favorite SEAL yet. He is very talkative in this book and so open with Josie who doesn’t talk after her ordeal with starvation and imprisonment. I loved the beginning where they are trying to escape and on the run. It was another good installment and she was fiercely protective of Blink. However I’m ready for a break from the series because while the ppl and places change from book to book they feel repetitive. Same dynamic in relationships and the hero follows the same path to instalove. Same thought process even when they meet FMC. Plots are getting predictable with the beginning and ending life threatening predicaments.

Susan Stoker knows how to grab and hold your attention by giving you exceptional storylines filled with suspense, intrigue, danger and extraordinary characters that you genuinely like and care about. Protecting Josie is no exception. A small, unexpected act of kindness leads two people caught in the darkest and most dangerous of predicaments to what will become a deep and abiding love. Blink and Josie forge a bond that will be unbreakable. She gives him what he's longing for...a home for his heart. He gives her what shexs never had....family, friendships and security.
