As a Unitarian Universalist, I thought this book would be especially insightful since it was written by one. I only read the section that currently pertains to my child, which is "the older school-age child, ages 7-12.' I did not find it particularly helpful. It was far too general and lacked concrete examples.

I was actually offended at one point when the author stated "Multiracial children or transracially adopted children may not have the option of a same-race group, which can cause anxiety, confusion, and even anger." As the mother of a transracially adopted child, it upsets me that this negative statement is the only mention of children in this category. In a book covering only this group of children, it might be appropriate to indicate that they could experience some anxiety, confusion, or even anger. However, in a book in which everything else mentioned is so general, giving one negative possibility for a specific group of children seems entirely uncalled for.
