As a new Alpha, Bart Cairo has his hands full. His pack is driving him crazy, an old enemy is knocking at the door, and he’s ready to stake his claim on the woman that has been his heart’s desire for years. You’ll love Predator’s Claim, Book 4 of Gemini Island Shifters, author Rosanna Leo’s hot paranormal romance series.

For years, wolf shifter Bart Cairo has harbored secret feelings for his co-worker, Charlotte Moffatt. Even though he thinks he’s been discreet with his affections, everyone at Gemini Island’s Ursa Fishing Lodge knows he and Charlotte, a fellow wolf shifter, are meant to be mates. Everyone but Charlotte.

Charlotte couldn’t be less interested in mating. A free spirit, she wants nothing more than to succeed at her new career in the big city and leave small-town Gemini Island behind. However, she can’t deny Bart stirs up unwanted emotions inside her. Emotions she swore she’d never feel again.

The occasion of Bart’s family reunion compels him to assume new responsibilities, and to consider a role he never envisioned for himself. Family tensions rise to the surface as a new Alpha is proclaimed in his pack. And when old grudges escalate, Bart must stake his claim.

Charlotte resists as he stakes a claim on her as well. But when he begins to employ sexual tactics of temptation, she wonders if the only solution is submission to the enticing wolf man. Can she trust her heart again? And can they find their happy ending before an enemy cuts their story short?

My Rating: ★★★★★
EXCELLENT: The characteristics of a 5 star story include: an awesome story; and, I love everything about the story — characters, plot, and story elements. I would definitely read it again and I would highly recommend it to a friend and rave about it often.
If anyone has followed my reviews on the Rosanna Leo books on my bookshelf, you will see that I absolutely love her writing style. She tells such beautifully written stories that are vivid, sweet, and very sexy. And, Predator's Claim absolutely hit every one of those marks.

Predator's Claim chronicles Bart Cairo and Charlotte Moffatt's journey to passion and then love. Those of you who read Predator's Refuge might remember Marci's sassy and smart mouthed chambermaid friend, Charlotte. In Marci's story, we see glimpses of Charlotte and Bart's relationship and the simmering attraction between them. Bart and Charlotte have a very passive aggressive friendship at times. They are friends but they are attracted to one another so it plays out similar to how it does for a young boy who likes a girl and tugs her hair and pushes her down. Bart and Charlotte have THAT kind of relationship except they don't antagonize each other physically but verbally. It's cute to watch them snipe at each other and exchange verbal blows. Bart calls Charlotte "Charles" because he knows it gets to her, and she gets under him skin by challenging him at ever turn and flirting with other men in front of him. Poor Bart!

Predator's Claim opens with Bart snapping at some young shifters and being called on his recent boorish behavior by Ryland (from Predator's Kiss). Everyone knows that Bart is a little on edge because he misses Charlotte who has gone to Toronto to finish up her degree studies. After some good-natured ribbing, Ryland lets Bart know that Charlotte will be returning to Gemini Island for a small respite before she begins lecturing at a college in Toronto. Excited and nervous, too, Bart readies himself to welcome home the woman he desperately wants and needs. Charlotte is also feeling a flutter of excitement as she returns home to the Ursa. But, she doesn't return alone. She has brought a friend with her. A friend that Bart immediately despises on sight, and one who causes him to distance himself from Charlotte. However, his desire for her wins out and he seeks her out as she is working. Bart and Charlotte's simmering attraction slowly boils when each encounter with one another increases their desire for the other.

But, big changes are in store for both of them. Changes that challenge their place in each others life. Charlotte has demons from her past that threaten their future and Bart has dangers in his present that increase the thread. It seems almost impossible for the two of them to be together at a point. But...love finds a way!

I will now commence gushing over this story! I loved it. Absolutely loved it. Bart and Charlotte's dynamic is one that just appealed to me from the very beginning. The best type of romance for me is one where the protagonists don't fall into an easy love but they work for it. They earn it. And, that is totally Bart and Charlotte's deal here. The two of them felt like the unlikeliest couple to begin with, but as the story develops, so does their relationship. A relationship that was built on a foundation of friendship--although hilariously combative friendship--first. It was sweet to see how their passion and their concern for one another grew with each successive page read. They both had a protective streak for the other that was a mile long and it manifested in the sweetest of ways from both of them. There is a scene where Bart comes to Charlotte's aid like an avenging angel and it was both sexy and sweet to read how he charged in to save her. Charlotte, although the most resistant to their burgeoning love, expressed her protectiveness where it counted in subtly sweet ways--supporting Bart through adversity--like a true mate would.

The story wasn't all flowers and unicorns either. There are a couple of intense moments where the reader is flown from passion to panic. Bart's position is challenged and he has to display his power to an unexpected foe. However, Leo didn't leave us on the precipice of despair. Nope, she carried us right back to sweet with the very end of the story where we see the beautiful culmination of Bart and Charlotte's efforts. They arrive at a place that is stable, solid, and extremely heartwarming. I have loved all the books in the series so far but this one is my favorite because it shows the strength of a couple and their ability to overcome the obstacles to their reaching their happily ever after.

**This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review**

I was already a fan of this series because I love hot shifters and strong characters, but Predator's Claim was the best yet! I was excited to see Charlotte and Bart were the main characters after being introduced to them in previous books. Their coming together it was everything I hoped it would be and more. Rosanna Leo writes great chemistry and I loved the banter and sexual tension between Bart and Charlotte. I also think RL has kicked the heat level up a notch with Predator's Claim because Bart was just crazy hawt ;)

A fantastic addition to the Gemini Island Shifters series and I can't wait to read the next one. I highly recommend for anyone who enjoys a well-written, light and fun PNR with some great sexy times thrown in.

Thanks Rosanna for the chance to review Predator's Claim.

I LOVED....and I mean LOVED this book!! It has become my favorite out of the series so far, and notice that I say so far because I have no doubt that Rosanna will up the ante in the books (if any, please God say yes) that follow.

The buildup and the chemistry was so intense between Bart and "Charles" (LMAO @ the nickname) that I have to admit that I found myself eyeing the hubby and needing to take a break to ummm....yeah. *whispers* Thank you for that R...*grins*

I loved Charlotte's potty mouth! As a HUGE fan and user of "sentence enhancers" I couldn't stop laughing out loud while reading which earned me weird looks from coworkers and customers as I covertly read at my desk. :D And Bart, well what can I say about him other than OH MY GOD that is one HOT puppy! and Can I please have an alpha wolfie like him of my very own? *sighs*

Predator's Claim can be easily be read as a stand alone but why deprive yourself of the yumminess of the previous three? So do yourself a favor if you haven't already and pick them up as well. And prepare yourself for the drool worthiness of the bear brothers, Ryland and Soren Snow and tiger shifter Anton "Oh mah gawd he's so freaking hawt" Gaspar. You won't be sorry! :)

Favorite Lines “Why do you think I’ve been so patient? What I haven’t figured out yet, though, is what led you to put your heart in a vault. But I will get to the bottom of it.” He turned his head to the side and regarded her with a clarity that stunned and terrified her. “I’m going to tear all your defenses away, Charlotte.”

“A tear slipped from between her eyelids but she closed her eyes so he wouldn’t see it. She nodded, once again made mute by his words and actions. What was this travesty of sensation inside her? Why did it run so deeply? She didn’t understand”

“Buddha and Zeus didn’t cause her eyelashes to go aflutter the way they did when Bart grinned at her.”

“To love someone so much…that you’d die if you lost him.”

“I feel like a fever is raging inside me. I’ve never felt anything so…profound. It’s as if I can’t breathe if I’m not touching you. If I can’t see your face, it’s as if someone turned off the sun.”

Knocked this one OFF the island! Rosanna Leo is one of the most talented authors I have ever had the pleasure of reading! Gemini Island is an amazing little world that has love, yumminess, drama, danger, and carnivorous delight!
Charlotte and Bart have been fighting each other for so long! They define sexual tension!

Charles refuses to give up her dreams she really believes she can't be the wolf Bart needs!
Bart may be a fierce wolf but when it comes to Charlie he's a tongue tied pup. How long can that go on! Read it and find out!
This author has no problem sucking you into any world she lays before us. I look forward to what's next on this island!
The writing is spectacular, the Charchters are sexy and hilarious, the whole story is just fabulous!

Each one of the Gemini Island Shifters series just gets better and better. Each one is a bit more intense, more romantic. Maybe it’s because I know the characters from earlier books so I feel a certain connection to them, maybe it’s being more invested in the series, who knows. I just know I like each one a little bit more than the last one.

We’ve watched Bart and Charlotte circle each other in the past stories. It’s about time they finally got it together and got together. We finally find out why Charlotte keeps everyone at arm’s length. It’s a heart-wrenching story. Don’t worry, nothing violent happened to her, she just had heartache early on and it left an impression on her.

We also get to see Bart finally take charge. He’s been surly, grumpy and basically a bear to everyone around him. Everyone at the lodge knows why he’s so surly. They just need to get Bart to realize why.

Everything comes to a head and Bart does what he must. He protects his pack and Charlotte. He would do anything for them. Anything.

I love Bart and Charlotte. I was so glad to get their story. They’ve been avoiding each other and snarking at each other for the longest time. It was wonderful to see them get together. And they were amazingly hot together. Bart is an alpha-wolf all the way around, in the bedroom and out of it. All that alpha-maleness led to an explosive joining of Bart of Charlotte. I thought my kindle was going to burn up.

I’m loving this series. I can’t wait for the next one. I’m really curious which story we’re getting next.

This is the fourth book in the Gemini Island Shifters series. As always Rosanna Leo delivers with her wonderful brand stamped on it from the first page. I absolutely love Rosanna Leo’s writing style, it really stands out and you are in no doubt what author your reading. She has a warm sassy humor in her books that I absolutely love, combined with strong heroines that can kick ass in the best way, it is a winning combination every time. This book is a real solid addition to the Gemini Island series and I could not put it down.

The heroine Charlotte aka Charles is a strong girl with a solid back bone and a sharp tong, I find her awesome a hilarious. We have met her in previous books but it was a pleasure to read her book. I love her potty mouth and sassy ways.

Bart is an alpha wolf and a security officer and has been after Charlotte for years, finally he gets a chance and it is a fun rid to tag along on. The story between her and Bart was warm, wonderful and hot, hot, hot. Keep your boyfriend or bubby close if you have one when reading this book you may need him.

Who would have thought that I would be turned on by a guy named Bart....;D

But seriously the wolf-man has some serious moves.

Bart & Charlotte have a history together after working with each other at the Ursa Lodge for years. Everyone else at the resort can see that there is something there, so why can't they.

Charlotte leaves for Toronto for a wile to pursue her love of Religious Studies and during a break before she begins a job lecturing she comes back to the Island to help out Ryland.

Bart is head of security and his pack, run by his dad, the Alpha, is coming to the Lodge for a family reunion. Little does he know that his father is getting ready to hand over the reins of the pack and he is going to be the new Alpha.

Internal fighting for the position ensues and all he really wants is to win Charlotte as his mate.

YOWZA - the smexy times in this book were off the charts HAWT. Scorching!

Charlotte and Bart make a great team.

I really enjoy Gemini Island. The characters are interesting and flawed. At times I really wanted to scream at Charlotte for holding herself back. The plot was very well done with some things thrown in to knock you off the trail. Rosanna is making things more complicated and interesting with each book! Also, the sex scenes are hot with just a hint of D/s involved. My only complaint is that I want to spend more time with them and more time with past characters. How are Ryland and Lia doing? What about Marci? We get little check ins but hopefully we get a big reunion sometime soon. Giant party at Ursa Lodge!

Predator's Claim is a great story. It brings love, want, lust and aminalistic sex to a whole new level. Bart has been in love with Charlotte for a long time, but her career is important to her and she goes to the city only to return for a break from work. While she is back on Gemini Island, her home and where Bart is, Bart feels that this is his chance to show her that he loves her. Things start to happen, tempers rise and Charlotte can't fight the pull she has with Bart any longer! This is a great book about paranormal love!

I loved it. For years, Bart was secretly in love with Charlotte and she, him but they never made a move until one night when Bart's father announced him to be the Alpha. His siblings and his two cousins didn't take it well but the cousins took it hard and tried their damndest way to take that right. This book has many twist and turns. The plot was awesome and Charlotte can swear like hell : D it was another wonderful read.

Fans of the Gemini Island series know that Bart and Charlotte's story was inevitable. They've been fighting/flirting with each other since book one, and it's clear that such had been the case for them for some time even then. What I found most interesting in this one was the revelation that they aren't really the people we thought they were from previous books, for we really only ever saw that one facet of their personalities -- the way they interacted with one another.

Charlotte is a very independant and accomplished woman who's had a long history of sleeping around with whomever she wanted to. Everone except the one man she's been not-so-secretly most attracted to the whole time. With a potty mouth that would put a sailor to shame, and a take-no-nonsense attitude she's very forthright in her dealings with those around her. Again, everone except Bart, whom she can't help but keep playing evasive, defensive games with even as she begins to admit her attraction to him at long last. It's very interesting getting to know the intelligent scholar and compassionate heart that resides behind all the surface bluster, and equally captivating and inspiring to see how she evolves even further over the course of the story to become a modern woman who's strong in every sense of the word.

Bart has heretofore been presented as the carefree playboy type who enjoyed teasing Charlotte and trying to get under her skin. We have seen glimpses of the more serious, responsible, deadly Bart though, such as when Charlotte was attacked in Predator's Refuge. He's apparently already lost much of his devil-may-care attitude by the start of this book, and it's a far more serious -- and grumpy -- Bart that we meet in the first scene. When huge pack responsibilities are suddenly dumped in his lap at the beginning of the family reunion he's forced to mature even more and step up to the plate as it were to take charge of things. Including his relationship with Charlotte.

I enjoyed reading about the interplay between these two and getting to know them as unique personalities more and not just as interesting background characters. I'd really had no inkling from the previous books that Charlotte was so scholarly, especially in such an esoteric subject -- esoteric for a shifter at least since it's been noted in the past that few of them are very religious minded. I was also somewhat surprised at the relative ease with which she begins to acknowledge her attraction to Bart, though to be fair it seemed pretty evident that she was rather surprised by it herself. I did think that she persisted in her reluctance to commit to him a bit too long even given the reasoning behind it. There is a point at which the lady doth protest too much after all, as well as a point at which you can reasonably expect that someone as intelligent as Charlotte would just get over it already and give in to what she and her wolf want so badly.

My main quibbles with this book had to do with the exterior threats they had to deal with, some of which seemed a bit overdone or outright unneeded. By the end I could see why most of them were handled the way they were, though ultimately I felt as though there was so much going on around them that it somewhat detracted from their personal story. Still, I have to give the author props for managing to surprise me a bit with how one of the conflicts turned out for it did take a slightly unexpected turn a the end. This was a pleasant surprise after the fairly predictable nature of the whodunnit in the last book.

All in all, this is another highly laudable entry in a series that continues to get better as it goes along. 4½ stars easily for this one, as well as a definite recommendation. If you like shifters and haven't read this series yet, do so (but start with book one ;)).

ARC provided by Author in exchange for a honest review.

Once again Rosanna Leo has hit a home run on another Gemini Island Shifter story. They are wonderful and I just love reading about the shifters she writes about. These stories are captivating; edge of your seat romance, lust and a little bit of drama and Predator’s Claim is not far behind.

But this is a bit different than the others. The heartthrob Bart Cairo is the one that would love to settle down with the girl of his dreams, but does she want him. Charlotte Moffatt is a free spirited girl that all she wants to do is have fun, succeed at her new career in the big city and leave small-town Gemini Island behind. The last thing on her mind is settling before her dreams are fulfilled.

What is it with these shifters that like to denied who they are and whom they belong to? But I guess if they gave in right away then there would hardly be a story.

Bart and Charlotte “Charles” have always been friends and even though she is attracted to him she resists as much as she can. They are always joking around and you could see they are the best of friends but the attraction can be seen from far away. All of Ursa is aware of his feelings but Charlotte either doesn’t know or doesn’t want to make anything of it. Their banter is cute and the passion behind it can be seen. But what happens when she leaves for school would Bart move on or mope around missing her?

Like all of Gemini Island stories there is a dark person and a dark past. Charlotte doesn’t want to get hurt, and that is one of the reasons she keeps Bart at arms length but eventually she gives into him but not without trouble lurking around the corner coming to sabotage what Bart wants the most. Is the trouble hers or is it his? That is something you will have to find out on your own.

I absolutely loved it and once I started reading I just couldn’t put it down. The Gemini Island Shifter stories, are well written, has an awesome plot and it has everything a love story should have. I give it 4 out of 5 and I would recommend anyone to read them.

I adore this series, Gemini Island Shifters has a firm place on my favorites shelf. The characters, the steam, the wonderful plots and the humour all makes for a fantastic novel.

In this outing our friend Bart who we have met in previous GIS books finally gets his story. If you have read any of the others in the series we know Bart has been in love with Charlotte for years. In this book he finally catches his wolf.

I consider this a coming of age book in so many ways. Rosanna Leo crafts her characters in a way that you learn about them a little at a time. In this novel all the tidbits we were fed in previous novels come together and our characters finally grow to understand themselves and their motivations. It was wonderful to see Bart grow into the strong alpha we knew he could be...and the alpha we knew Charlotte would need. Charlotte on the other hand had to look to forgive herself and allow herself to love. I adored seeing her stand with Bart against his pack and support him. The Charlotte we knew from Macie's book would never have done that.

RL weaves her plot around the characters allowing them to be the vehicle that drives the story forward. The touches of intrigue and confrontation keeps the readers cheering on the characters. I know I personally wanted to smack Flynn and Fletcher and spank Bart's sister's butt. The twist near the end caught me by surprise and I just love that.

Another blockbuster of a novel for Rosanna Leo and 5 bright shiny stars. I can't wait to see who Rosanna's next victim will be but I suspect it will be from the Lodge's security force.. If you haven't delved into the Gemini Island books..don't wait, treat yourself and pick up the series today.

I really loved this book! The whole series is amazing! I love Bart and Charlotte from the previous books in the series and finally they come into their own! How they didn't get together sooner is anyone's guess! They are perfect for each other! The chemistry between them is explosive! I love their banter as well, even when it escalates to one or both of them storming off although I would guess that now that the underlying sexual tension between them has been resolved there may not be quite so much storming off in the future!

There were teary moments in the book, like when Charlotte finally confessed why she runs from love/emotions, there were humorous moments like the banter and Bart's parents (who I love!) and there was some action with Bart and Charlotte each facing threats. Bart gets a lot sprung on him at once with his parents announcing his fathers retirement without any warning and naming Bart as the new pack alpha, not to mention Bart dealing with news that Charlotte's got a job in the city she'll be going back to.

Poor Bart having to juggle trying to convince Charlotte to accept him as her mate and not run off at the same time he's trying to cope with having the Alpha role thrust on him when he never wanted it, not to mention the stress of hearing a criminal he put in jail is loose! He definitely needed some stress relief! I was happy with how it ended cause I was worried Gemini Island would lose another resident but Bart and Charlotte managed a nice compromise and the end will make you smile as well! I thought it was a beautiful, sweet paragraph at the end!

Predator’s Claim by Rosanna Leo has the story of Charlotte and Bart, both are wolf shifters (my personal favorite shifter). I have been waiting for their story for a while and so glad when it came out. I was doing a little happy dance my two favorites were getting a story! This book did not disappoint me at all. Bart is really protective, strong, and not so patient but he tries.
Charlotte is feisty, headstrong, and impetuous. I adored her character. I love a strong likeable woman and she is that and more. She isn’t afraid of her own sexuality. She does have a fear of being tied down though. Bart has to overcome that to make her see the best freedom is in love.
Not only does Bart kind of save his mate from herself but his mate saves him from himself too in this book. I really liked that this relationship has a very even ground feeling. They are what the other needs. No one is the damsel in distress. I loved that.
The story itself kept me turning the pages. It is really good, and does blend in people we already do know and love, so read this book in order. I cannot say enough good things about Ms. Leo’s writing. She keeps me engaged, wanting more, and wondering what will happen next. I really highly recommend this entire series. You will meet some different kinds of shifters, and get to read some really great stories.

OMG, I absolutely loved this book. I'm sure it is safe to say that this series just keeps getting better and better, each book better than the last. With a mouthy heroine and a tongue-tied hero how could you not root for these two misguided but meant for each other people. Except for the whole wolf thing, Charlotte could very well be an exact copy of my best friend. So the connection I felt for her was immediate.

I have to admit that it is not often that I am surprised by an ending. I can usually figure out whodunit a couple of chapters into a book. Not this time! This time I was completely thrown for a loop. So I feel the need to commend Ms. Leo. That was one ending I completely did not expect.

I have been a huge fan of this author from the moment I picked up and read Up In Flames two years ago and she has never disappointed me. She's a guaranteed great read.

I read this book in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down. Bart and Charlotte have a chemistry that's been smoldering in the background of the other Gemini Island books, and it was finally their time to catch fire. (Yes, I cheered when I learned book four was going to be their story)

These two characters have a history of snark, sass, and sexual frustration that makes for a fun, entertaining read. If they didn't have enough of a challenge just working through their feelings for each other, complications abound as each of them have to find a way to balance their dreams with their responsibilities.

I laughed, I cheered, had a few "Oh no he didn't!" moments, and in the end, I might have even sniffled a little.

This is a wonderful addition to Rosanna Leo's shifter series.

The author has a great sense of humor that comes through nicely in the story. It's one of the few books I've read that doesn't place the heroine in the virgin/spinster/hasn't had sex in 5 thousand years category. The hero is very likeable because he does have his doubts and isn't one of those omniscient hero's. Bart's family in the story is especially relate-able by having the family members you want to strangle and the ones who are caring instead of one extreme. Charlotte and Bart's relationship develops nicely from wanting to smack them upside their heads to so hot it's burning a hole in the ground. This has been one of my favorite reads in a while. I loved the shifters, Bart and Charlotte's relationship growth, and the hint of danger all throughout the book.

Rosanna Leo you have delivered yet again!!!

If you have not read any books by this wonderful author then you are missing out. This is the fourth book in her Gemini Island Shifter series and I think it it the best so far! Absolutely adored Bart. He is strong, sweet, funny, a little demanding at times and shows just the right amount of vulnerability to temper his slight arrogance (guess that comes with being an Alpha LOL)
He and Charlotte have always had a volcanic relationship and he REALLY has his work cut out for him if he wants to convince her they belong together. Along with a crazy family and pack that expects him to lead, an old enemy on the loose and a couple of shifters with a grudge to bear this book is jam-packed with excitement.
Cannot wait for the next installment!!

yet another great book from Rosanna Leo. this follows on from Marci's book and as usual never fails to make my pulse race and make me giggle from the by play with each character.
Admittedly i'm already praying that Connor is next to fall as he's so adamant he likes to play the field!!!
I love Charlotte and what she's been through and Bart was so patient with her a truly wonderful caring man with that nice touch of alpha dominance i like most when reading these books ;-)
keep writing Rosanna and i'll just keep on reading :-)

Bart and Charlotte showed up in Predator's refuge, but this their story. It wasn't what I expected, but that wa great. I loved how Charlotte's brash exterior hid her insecurity and Bart's natural reticence masked his alpha qualities. A great read with well developed characters and strong plot.

Alpha Wolf, Bart Cairo finally gets to stake his claim on the woman that has been his heart’s desire for years. Charlotte Moffatt a wolf shifter herself, cant ignore the old feelings anymore. With Bart's new responsibilities of Alpha and his desire and relization of who his real mate is meant to be, the story keeps you intrigued til the end. They both grow with the responsibilities and challenges for they are meant to be mates. Very Hot
