I quickly understand the relationships between the journal entries, the incomes and expenses and the balance sheet. Seems the books is better compared to the jof of accounting that the same author has written.
As a CPA (Wisconsin), Professor (Accounting Program Director), Big 8 Alum (E&Y)and MBA (Wharton), would recommend this book to anyone wanting a better understanding of the basics of accounting. It has been integrated into my teaching curriculum and helped my students get a "second opinion" on financial accounting, aiding many in having that lightbulb pop on. As a parable, is fairly easy read relating lots of good information in a digestable form.
They also offer a seminar that is VERY hands-on - great for the motivated manager, non-accountant or anybody that wants to understand where the heck these balance sheet and income statement numbers come from and what they mean.
I like the idea of assigning colors to certain accounting transactions. This book will definitely help more people to understand accounting.
Being an accountant, I wish that this book had come up many years ago when I first took accounting courses. I was confused back then and only got a C in my first class. This book would have made me understand accounting better.
Took a color accounting course. Decided to follow the course with this book. Delightful quick read that really reinforced the principles in the course. Accounting simplified at its best
Great book for visual learners and those who want a quick intro to accounting. The book is presented as a conversation and you get to experience the "ah ha" moments along with the characters.
