Deep Surrendering: Episode 2

Rate this book
When Fin ran out on Marisol, leaving her naked on her couch, she swore she was done with him. There was no way she would forgive him, let alone see him again. But fate, or something else, had different ideas, and she ran into him again the very next day.

Instead of hating his guts and wanting him to die, Marisol finds that’s she’s still attracted to Fin. She just can’t get him out of her system. Maybe if they had one night together? Just one night and she could get over him. But will that be enough?

This second installment of the series was a bit better. I'm glad that Marisol and Fin are finally - somewhat - talking to each other and discovering what makes the other tick. I get the feeling that not everything is going to be smooth sailing for them, but they seem to be getting into a pattern of understanding and familiarity.

I'm just waiting until we find out what REALLY makes Fin tick!

Since I also got this for free on Amazon, I thought I would give it a go and see if the story would redeem itself a bit. (I was just curious.) I'm still not 100% convinced about this and the whole domination thing. Not sure if I'll be continuing with this.

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick

This is the second installment in Chelsea M. Cameron's Deep Surrendering Serial. According to her website, there will be approximately 12-14 episodes that will equal about two full novels when finished. These have to be read in order because the story continues from one part to another. Luckily each episode is about 100 pages, so these are easy to catch up on and are nice and quick reads. Episode 2 picks up right after the events of Episode 1, so if you haven't read that yet I would recommend reading that before continuing with this review as there will be spoilers.

After Fin ran out on Marisol again, she is left feeling hurt and vows to be done with him. He promised her that he wouldn't run again, and then he did. She goes out to dinner with her friend the next day, and runs into him. She just can't seem to escape him and he is still in her thoughts. Marisol decides that the reason that she is unable to move on is because things were never resolved between them and the abrupt nature of his exit is the problem. She is still attracted to him and wants to finish things between them. Marisol decides to have one more night with Fin in order to get him out of her systems once and for all. But will one night be enough for them?

I both love and hate Fin. He is so complex, and yet we really don't know exactly who he is. The more we see of him, the more questions there are. He is both dark and light, and seems to have multiple personalities. Some times he is commanding and is all alpha. Others he is so sweet and thoughtful, and really seems to be developing feelings for Marisol. I am enjoying getting to know him better, but I have a feeling that things are definitely going to get worse before they get better. Marisol is one of those heroines that has her moments for me. Some times she is so strong and confident, and others she seems extremely weak and is a total push-over. I really love the times that she is fun and feisty and stands up for herself. She is great with her friends, and you get to see a whole other side to her. I wish that she and Fin were able to have more of that, but you can tell that they both still have a lot of demons that need to be dealt with. Fin and Marisol are clearly attracted to each other and have a lot of chemistry. They are starting to develop feelings for each other beyond the physical though, and that is what really has me coming back for more. They are both trying to figure out what is going on between them and what it means for the future. It is good to see them starting to open up to each other and see what possibilities the future has for them.

I really ended up liking this episode better than the first. Fin and Marisol still had their moments, and I didn't like everything that happened. I loved the fact that Marisol and Fin came to an agreement that he would start to open up to her by giving her one of his secrets each night. I am really looking forward to seeing what else we don't know about him. Fin and Marisol have really started to grow on me even with their flaws and issues. I think that is one of the things I like the most is that they aren't perfect and they aren't the safest bet for a relationship. Yet together they work and seem to fit. They are both still dealing with things and there are going to be obstacles ahead for them, but you can tell that they are developing something a lot deeper than either of them have ever felt before. I can't wait to see where things go from here for them. I like that these are quick and easy to read, I just wish that there was a little less time in between the release dates for each installment. I recommend these books if you are looking for something that can be read in a short amount of time and has deep and complex characters. If you are not a fan of serials though, you might want to wait until they there are more installments released though since there are only a few chapters in each episode. Chelsea M. Cameron has a way of drawing you into the story though and making you become invested in her characters. I can't wait to see what happens with Fin and Marisol next, and will be awaiting the next episode.

Since meeting Fintan Herald, Marisol Everly's life has changed. She's doing things she never thought she'd do, allowing things she swore she would never allow, and it's one heck of a crazy ride.

Marisol and Fin were introduced by their mutual friends, who thought that they would make a great match. Their attraction to each other is immediate and intense, and Fin quickly sweeps Marisol off her feet, complete with romantic gestures and a hot sexy demeanor. Then, just as quickly as he began to pursue her, Fin backs off, telling her that his secrets are too dark, and that he is no good for her.

'Deep Surrendering' is written as a serial, and Episode 2 picks up immediately following the action in Episode 1. Fin has left Marisol in the absolute heat of the moment, running away just when things were at their most intense. She is shocked, angry, humiliated, and adamant that she is DONE with his craziness. The only problem? She can't get over her attraction to him, darkness and craziness notwithstanding. Determined to get him out of her system, she invites him to finish what they started, so that she can move on. Fin, unable to get over Marisol as well, agrees, but as they move forward in their relationship, they find themselves unable to be apart, and real feelings begin to develop.

I found the idea of an episodic series interesting, wondering how the story would flow from one book to the next without losing steam. Chelsea Cameron has done an excellent job of keeping the reader interested and invested in Marisol and Fin. The story is told from Marisol's POV (although both episodes have a bonus POV from Fin), and she is great. She's smart, sassy, and doesn't take crap from anyone, which makes her relationship with Fin such a departure for her. Her inner dialogue is a riot, and had me laughing out loud. As well, the secondary characters, especially Marisol's BFF Chloe, are hilarious, and really add to the story. I can't wait to see what's in store for Marisol and Fin, and will definitely have Episode 3 at the top of my TBR.

MICHELLE'S REVIEW

Ok- here's a fun fact about me. Sometimes- I get really excited about things and don't read all the details and end up kind of confused.

So I read Deep Surrendering: Episode 2 and LOVED IT. And then at the end I saw that this was episode 2. And that I hadn't read Episode 1. And that there are going to be lots of these episodes.

All that being said- this was AWESOME.

It's short- really and truly an episode which is maybe the size of a novella, maybe smaller.

As I mentioned, I didn't read the first episode but if you read Sweet Surrendering and Surrendering to Us (which I did and loved both btw) you already met Marisol and Fin there and so you'll be familiar with the characters if you do what I did and jump in with part 2.

How Chelsea managed to pack so much hot sex and even a pretty solid story line in so few pages is beyond me. Maybe she's a wizard. It's like magic:

I don't know. But I know that I am super excited about this.

Marisol is sweet and spunky and curious. There is something so human and relatable about her and you know how much we love our relatable female leads here at ARR!! And Fin. Fin is this crazy blend of totally sweet and sexy mixed with fucked up and maybe frightening? I don't even know but the two of them together is like crack. Chelsea is my dealer and I need more of their story.

So get into this series but with a warning. These are short stories and there will be a lot of them. So once you pop- you can't stop.

Marisol, Marisol, Marisol. What am I going to do with you? When we last met up with you, Fin had just left your very naked ass on your living room couch. He ran for the hills, and you should have been done with him. But nooooo, you had to go back for one more taste. Good plan… (Complete sarcasm.) ‘Cause Fin is nothing at all like potato chips. You can totally get one taste of that mysterious man and walk away. Uh-huh. Yup.

Despite what he’d done, despite what he told me (and the things that he was still keeping from me), I wanted him in my life. Needed him to need me.

We needed each other. Two souls floating around in the world that had grabbed on to each other for comfort.

I love the way Chelsea writes, but these little episodes are making me crazy. Just as I’m getting into one – BAM – it’s over. I realize that secretly makes you an evil genius, but it does absolutely nothing for my sanity.

Do I love Fin, or hate him? I can’t decide. He’s obviously harboring some pretty hefty secrets. He’s beginning to open up, which is a pretty substantial thing for someone like Fin. The man is a control freak, especially in the bedroom, and that’s putting it nicely. I’m a little fearful about just how kinky he can be, or has been in the past. It almost seems like he gets off on inflicting pain. We’ll all just have to wait and see what kind of skeletons come marching out of his closet.

The secret(s) he’s revealed so far seem pretty significant, and he hasn’t even gotten to the good stuff yet! Lord, he might just send me running for the hills, forget about Marisol!

To think I thought Christian Grey and Dominic Kincaide were messed up, sheesh Finn is one seriously mind-melting mess. The more secrets that are revealed the more twisted he becomes. the reason behind the kink are not divulged and I'm sure will affect my perception of him when they are but until then WOW I sure as hell don't think I could cope with him. The tantalizing glimpse into his mind with the bonus chapters just makes you desperate for more of his point of view, in an attempt to really understand what goes on in that mind of his.

I'm not really sure I understand Marisol's compulsion toward Finn, it gives her the appearance of a doormat. In contradiction to the feisty, independent woman we catch glimpses of. In one way I can understand her need to be dominated by Finn, it's like she's releasing herself from all the obligations of her life and letting someone else take the reins for a short while. Liberating for Mari in a way, and addictive.

The deal they strike adds to the delicious anticipation within the plot, the revelations on a quid pro quo basis, keeping the tension taut and increasing the adrenaline levels while reading. As I've already stated I wouldn't be able to cope with Finn, I'm waiting for the moment when the epiphany comes to provide understanding for his actions. I sure as hell hope it does anyway.

Tidbits of information into Marisol's family and childhood add insight to the plot but the understanding isn't fully there yet.

Each episode of this serialization only increases the anticipation for further information, testament to the devilish genius that is Chelsea Cameron ;)

Just to recap for those that have not yet started this series; it consists of a series of 10-12 short novellas which will equate to two full length novels by the time the last book is published. Each book is published once a month and they are definitely an event to look forward to.

I was a huge fan of the first episode of Deep Surrendering and I was extremely happy when it became evident that the sequel would be a continuation from the cliff-hanger that Chelsea left us with in Episode #1. I believe I threatened to stalk Chelsea down to get my hands on this book and I was extremely happy to get some answers for the millions of unanswered questions in my head. I suspected what direction Chelsea might take this serial and I was very happy when my suspicion was confirmed. This topic isn't something that Chelsea has addressed in any of her previous novels that I have read and I look forward to seeing where she takes it.

I can't begin to rant and rave over my love for this serial anymore. I love Marisol and Fin, I love the suspense of the story and I love the anticipation of reading the next episode once I've finished each book. A month is a long wait, but it's worth it for such an awesome story. As you can tell, I'm a huge fangirl of Chelsea's work and I love the way she lures you into a story instead of just telling it. I'm a sucker for getting emotional and I judge a book by the way it makes me feel; Chelsea has never disappointed me on this front and a fine example is this series. I can't wait for Episode #3!

I am as hopelessly hooked to Chelsea M. Cameron's Deep Surrendering serial as Marisol is to Fin. After the first novella left me (and Marisol, for that matter) wanting MORE, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. I devoured it without pause and now am itching to get my hands on the third book.

The first episode ended with Fin leaving Marisol hot and bothered on her couch, with very little explanation. Episode two picks up immediately after that, with an understandably frustrated and confused Marisol. She's pissed, and with the help of her amazing friend Chloe, she decides she's going to move on and forget about him. It's only been a week, after all. This plan is going swimmingly until she sees him out with another woman and she realizes she's not even close to being over him and perhaps the only way to do that is to seal the deal with him. The rest? You'll have to find out for yourself.

The fact is I just love these characters together. Their chemistry is intense and in the sexier scenes, Marisol and Fin are HOT together. I really like her. The jury's still out on him. He's sexy as hell. His dominant side is hot and he definitely has sweet tendencies, but info is being uncovered that leaves me a little unsure about him. There's definitely more to Fin than meets the eye and, bit by bit, both Marisol and the reader are learning all about him. I'm looking forward to continuing their story and uncovering more about each of them along the way.

**Warning** If you haven't read the first episode in the DEEP SURRENDERING series, it's a must that you pick it up. According to the author's web site, this is going to be a serial that (when finished) will equal almost 2 full novels. These are short, 100 page novellas, so it'll be easy to catch up.

When we last saw Marisol and Fin, Fin had just walked out on Mari after she didn't follow his command not to come during sex. A very a-holish thing to do. That ending left me wondering how Fin was going to get back into Mari's good graces. Fin redeemed himself from walking out on Mari in the first book, but I think we're just scratching the surface on how f'd up Fin is. As Mari so eloquently put it, there are 2 Fins: a light one and a dark one. She happens to like both, but I don't think Fin does. We get a tiny bit of Fin's sexual history (since Mari is allowed 1 secret for each day they will be together) and discover that Dark Fin may have been created by his first sexual experience, but you can definitely tell there is more darkness coming that shaped him into the man he is today.

Mari, while not quite at Fin's f'd up level, still has her own demons that have shaped her into the woman she is today. She may see past Fin's money to the real him, but her upbringing I think is going to play a big role as things more forward because her parents are exactly those status chasing people that could do some damage if giving the chance.

I can't wait for next month's episode to see what happens next.

Posted on What I'm Reading

Whoa! Man this story keeps getting hotter. WOW! As much as I'm not a fan of serials this is amazing. I love the anticipation of the next part of the story. I know that sounds crazy. However, it's that good. I love that we see the two sides of Fin:
"The dark Fin was gone, replaced by the goofy sweet one who brought me flowers and made stupid jokes. I was attracted to both of them. Very attracted."
Dark Fin is very controlling and sweet Fin is the fun guy. You would think he had split personality. However, in the second episode we get to dive a little deeper on the darker Fin. Alas, we are left hanging to find out more secrets about Fin. That's the sucky part about serials, but I have to say that I'm enjoying the ride. Sometimes the serial starts out strong and starts to go down hill once it's started, not Deep Surrendering. I have to say that it's going pretty strong and loving it. Now I must wait for the next part (more liking dying).

I will you my favorite quote from Episode 2, because it's a great question to ponder:
"As if you can only have one favorite book. I have hundreds of favorite books, and my favorite are always changing. When I was a baby, Goodnight, Moon was my favorite. Now it's one of my favorites. Can you pick one favorite?'

Hello, book buddies. I was curious about these serial novellas so I decided to give DEEP SURRENDERING a chance.

I've caught the story on episode 2, where Fin bails in the middle of a hot encounter with Marisol. She can't understand what went wrong though it's not the first time he does that. Frustrated and hurt, she decides it's all over between them. After all, it's a budding relationship and it's not her first one.

Resolutions tend to tremble when they cross their paths again. In a burst of courage, Marisol opens up an opportunity to finish what they started. And, oh, well, passion and daring adventures ensue ;o)

I must admit it kind of remindes me of Fifty Shades of Grey. There's a clear influence though that doesn't have to mean it's a bad thing. It might deter some readers but it may also appeal to many others.

I like the fact that Marisol is not a skittish prude. She's bold enough to go after what she craves. And when Fin proves to be a kinky challenge, she's there to meet every nuance. It's not only sparks in the bedroom though. They have their issues which could be starting to unravel towards the path of healing if they trust each other enough. We'll see. Because we have to read episode 3, right? Oh, yeah.

Novellas are the hardest to review. They are so short. Sometimes they are packed with too much information, sometimes not enough information and sometimes just right. I can't make up my mind which this episode falls under.
We are left in episode one with Fin walking out on Marisol yet again... All because she wasn't able to follow one order.
Now we are left to try to keep up with these two. Hot and cold. Back and forth. It's like watching a tennis match, but in kind-of slow motion.
Now, I am sure the story, once it is complete, as a whole will be pretty good. However getting bits and pieces at a time, it is hard to stay focused on the story.
I am used to Chelsea's other books My Favorite Mistake series and For Real. This is nothing along those lines. I am not sure that I see that as a good thing. I liked Chelsea's books. They were sweet and moving. This story is not that. It is not necessarily "Chelsea".
We do learn more information in this episode than we did in the first, but it still isn't quite vibing for me. Maybe I need to just tough it out. At this point, I think that the next episode or two will either make the book sink or swim. I am keeping my fingers that is swims.

"I wished, more than anything, that the hot water could wash Finn Herald from my body, from my mind and from my life."

Deep Surrendering Episode 2 is part of a novella series by Chelsea M. Cameron. While I didn't read Episode 1, I was still drawn into the story of Finn and Marisol. Finn basically left Marisol high and dry. Walked out on her, and left her naked on her couch. Prepared to never see him again, Marisol and her best friend Chloe drown their sorrows. Of course they run into Finn, Marisol swears off of Finn. But can it really be so easy when she can't keep him off of her mind?

Finn:" I've been trying to warn you that I'm not the guy you think I am. I told you that I've done things that would disgust you. Would disgust most people, and the people that wouldn't be disgusted aren't people you would want to know or encounter.

Marisol goes out on a limb and sends Finn a text, giving him one last chance. She finds out that Finn isn't what he appears to be. There is a light fun side to Finn and a dark twisty side. This novella is HOT and reading the story of these two, was pretty freaking amazing. I cannot see what becomes of the pair, and to learn more about Finn. I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

We left off in episode 1 after Fin ran away, leaving Marisol naked on the couch.

I don’t know if I could get past that, could you?

I don’t want to go to deep into the storyline and give away anything that isn’t in the blurb which would be very easy to do with writing this review, so I am going to say, this is another awesome fun novella from Chelsea. I am loving this story between Marisol and Fin, I am dying to know what Fin’s next secret he is going reveal will be, I want to know why he won’t take off his clothes. What makes a man so sweet at one moment and dark the next? What makes a woman be able to accept said secrets or turn away from the man who is sharing the secrets? And which woman will Marisol be?

Seriously, I want to know.

I want to see where they go with this and I cannot wait until episode 3.

Thank you so much for my copy of Deep Surrending Episode 2 that was used to facilitate this review.

Part 2 of Deep Surrendering starts off where part 1 ended. Marisol is left hurt and confused when Fin up and leaves her hanging yet again. Even though Marisol and Fin only shared 5 special dates together, she is truly hurt by what he did. No matter how hard she tries she can't quite get Fin out of her head.
Will giving herself to Fin completely and finishing what they started be the answer to washing him from her life? Or will Marisol realize she is in way deeper? And what will happen when secrets start to get revealed?
Chelsea M Cameron knows how to suck you into a story and leave you wanting more. I can not wait to see what happens next to Marisol and Fin. Next installment is due out May 15th, so until then I give Part 2 a Nerd Alert A or 5 stars!

HOLY STARS! I think I'm in love with Fin!

What I liked: Okay, I was still reeling from the end of the last book, and when I started this one my emotions were all over the place. I started out being mad at Fin. I mean he LEFT HER ON THE COUCH! Just left her! (That's not a spoiler - read the blurb!) Now, poor Marisol. I swear I wanted to hug her and tell her it'll be alright. However, she's a strong girl, and can't get Fin out of her head. So, she came up with the plan for just one more chance. Just one more go around with me. O ... M ... G! That was a hot plan, but there was still something 'off'. Fin is a 'bit' dominating. I know that there is more here, but I'll have to wait until the next one!

What I didn't like: Even though I felt bad for Marisol, she was getting a bit 'whiny' for me. But there was a turn around point, and it was that bad!

All in all this episode was interesting. More questions, some answers, and more questions. Yup…can you tell I want to read the next episode. Marisol does drive me crazy with her infatuation with Fin…but hopefully once Fin opens up more I can agree with her decision on being with him.

I give this book 4 full moons and recommend it new adult readers out there. If you are a fan of serials, you will enjoy these. If you are not…then, you may want to wait until all of them are released, or at least some of them are published back to back.

I was excited to read what was coming next and with Fin walking out on her in episode one (which you have to read to understand this) we get to see her and her bestie Chloe a bit more in the beginning and here is where we get to see Chelsea's witty writing that i love!!

The funny, witty comments between friends is what i love about Chelsea and this is a great bit of light relief as I am sure it is going to get darker......

Fate throws Fin into Marisol's path and she wants more plus more of the secrets and she is going to get one a night... I can not wait to have more. I love getting deeper into Fin's world. It seems he can access anything he wants at a moments notice.....

Deep Surrendering: Episode Two is a really easy read and I was hooked right away. I love the main character Marisol and her best friend Chloe. In the first episode Marisol is left naked and confused on her couch while Fin practically runs out the front door, What a cliff hanger!!!!!!! In this episode we start to learn about Fins dark secrets and why he has been trying to stay away from the sweet Marisol. I'm definitely excited to read Episode three! Keep them coming Chelsea!

The second part of this novella series begins with a bang. Reeling from Fins rejection, Marisol seeks solace in her friend Chloe but when she bumps into the object of her sour mood, she ends up reaching back out to him.
Both unable to leave the other alone, they rekindle their love affair, only this time Marisol wants answers.
Fin promises one secret a night... But which one will push her away?
