Years ago, when I was a teenager, this book was amongst my favorite translated copies, I read it in Arabic, from روايات أحلام and I loved it so much I remember reading it over and over again.
Lydia jilted Jake in their wedding day because he never actually said he loved her. Jake thought it was obvious. A year later, she traveled to Australia and worked in many jobs and lost so much weight, she returns home for her sister's wedding. They both fall in love even more if possible, but Jake is so hurt by her that he needs convincing.

I understand why Lydia didn't marry Jake, she was vulnerabble and had doubts, she certainly loved him, bu he never said that he loved her. And he never try to keep her and to talk to her and he didn't followed her in her trip, if he loved her much why he didn't pursue her? She wanted to talk to him at the time when she changed her mind and he just walked away. It looks more pride than anything in my opinion. She is one of the few hs that left the Hs, I'm tired that it's always the Hs that leave the hs in HP and when they had a second chance most of the times it's because some secret child, if not for the secret child the Hs would never get back the hs, after all the years they are apart they never looked for the hs, even forgetting them, instead the Hs went sleeping around as always.
I didn't like that he thought that the reason that he didn't forget the h it's because she didn't have sex with him if they had, he woud had forgotten her, if this time he had he would get her out of his system, like she didn't matter, that she is an annoyance easily forgotten.
Did he stayed celibate these past year? If he did not, I don't believe his love. He had condoms on his room, it's distasteful to have sex with the h, in the same place you brought your pieces. So much to say that he loved her and he was not sleeping around, there would be no reason to had condoms if he didn't had other OWs. Unless he brought thinking on the h, which I doubt.
And he did have an affair with a young widow in the past, which past? Before the h? Or after the h? The young widow was important to him, he had feelings for her, I gathered that much. The affair just had fallen apart because he couldn't walk in the dead man's shadow, I bet because he didn't want to play second fiddle, he would have married the OW if she wasn't still in love with her late husband. And how could he want to apply the same to the h, because some late OM in her past trip, she is supposed to be the woman you loved, the woman you would have married.
I don't think it was a great gesture to have his room and other parts of the house to be decorated to the tastes of the h, he had hired her to do job before he got involved with her, not planned for the married life.
He didn't want to think her with the late OM , but he have never had problems with sleeping with OWs. Did he not think that the same apply to her, that would be painful for her? The same double standards. When she thought him with others, she felt sick. Why she should still be a virgin when he had so much experience. Hell he was always thinking about his OWs in the past, not only the young widow but one that was a former lover and they reconnect down to memory lane. WTF? He will go to the memory lane with every past OW when he encounter them? And how could he not know that she still is a virgin? He took her virginity and did even know? How could he think that she would have sex with the OM, when she didn't sleep with him when he was her fiancée.
And the way he think about his OWs, he knew and remember each one of them, this makes the memories of the h not very important in my view. For me if he truly loved the h he wouldn't even remember his past OWs, not only he remembers, he remembers with clarity.
Why did the author brought the death of his manager and his wife, it added nothing to the plot beside sadness, if the author needed to fill the pages she should choose another topic instead a tragic one.

This is the most heartbreaking Harlequin series that I've read! Love is not love until yoj say it and make it action. To see a man and a woman who have feelings to each other but drowned in their assumption is killing me.

Ini buku pertama aku yg bergenre harlequin,. Yaa.. cerita nya lumayan bagus lah.. Tapi ga cukup menarik buat aq tetep baca nya sampe hbs. Sempet tersendat sendat baca nya.. Baru baca 5 halaman, ngantuk.. Pengen pindah kebuku lain. Kesan nya jadi lama banget baca buku ini, pdhl ga trlalu tebel, malah tipis banget di banding dg buku2 yg biasa aq baca. Cuma 245 halaman..
Bercerita tentang Jake dan Lydia yg udah hampir nikah, tapi waktu gladi bersih, shari sblm hri H, Lydia mutusin utk mundur. Stahun kmudian mreka ktmu lg wktu adik nya Lydia yg mau nikah ma temen nya Jake. Mel dan Tom ktmu waktu mereka membantu persiapan pernikahan Jake ma Lydia. Ironisnya Lydia malah jatuh cinta lg ma Jake. Begitu pula sbalik nya.
Ya gt deh.. Cerita nya gampang ditebak dg kepastian happy ending.. Konflik ma klimaks cerita kurang berasa, bikin aq bosen. Kehidupan karakter cm di kisahin dg seputar mslh cinta, cinta, dan cinta..
Hmm.. Apa emg genre harlequin ini pasti happy ending ya?

Una niña encaprichada que no sabe lo que quiere o una joven llena de inseguridad, sea lo que sea, es la clase de prota que no me gusta ni una pizca. Él es muy simpático y casi perfecto... pero no me parece real que se quede esperando un año a esa estúpida que lo tiró a la basura sin ni mirar atrás.
