I think it's funny that a lot of the reviews on here are talking about reading this when they were younger, because I'm reading it as an adult and wondering how much of this is genuine and how much is ironic. It's interesting that multiple terms from the glossary are slurs - this definitely did not age well.

My mom gave me this book last week. It was published the year of my birth and she got it as a shower gift...She found it in the attic and gave it to me and. It was a source of hilarity for me for about an hour. I concluded that I along with 85% of my friends have valley girl names (Kimberly was high atop the list) and I am gonna have to bring back some of the terminologies!

OMG, I like totally loved this book in 6th grade. I just found it here on Goodreads as I'm preparing to dress in 80s "fashion" for an event next week. I LOVED it in 1983 and would love to get my hands on a copy now. I remember how excited I was when I read in the book that my name - Stacey - was a Valley Girl name.

I had this book in my middle and high school years during the 80's. It was my bible! Imagine a young black girl in Cleveland, Ohio aspiring to be a Valley Girl... LOL. I shopped at thrift stores to put together my zany outfits, which usually consisted of mini skirts with leg warmers, lace blouse with frilly collar, a man's suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up, headband or forehead band, lots of funky plastic bangles and dangly earrings, complete with candy pink or snow white kitten pumps. Looking back now, I realize that it was really a mix of Greenwich Village meets the Valley, but I rocked it! And the movie Valley Girl was and still is one of my favorite 80's movies (along with Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Last American Virgin, and Sixteen Candles). Even sweeter, in Valley Girl the heroine shared my name, Julie!

Flash from the past!! I moved to California from England when I was nine and was bullied for my British accent. I bought this book and quickly got rid of my accent. I still totally always say awesome and like in between every other word, lol.

When I was 13, I wanted to be a Valley Girl so bad! Like, for sure! Mini skirts? Gag me with a spoon! This was like a how to guide.

This book was my jam back in the day! I wanted to be a valley girl SO badly and call someone an Aqua Velva geek without sounding like a fraud. Finding this in the used bookstore was the score of my 4th grade life!

Small book but totally worth reading learning some slang from a Valley Girl. Fer Shurr a great fun read and a throw back to a fun time.
