Alone in a strange world of dungeons, quests, combat academies, guild wars, tournaments, and learning magic... It's all so wonderful!Of course, the hordes of orcs approaching the Empire's borders are a bit unsettling. As is the mysterious organization crippling it from within. But what if I'm the one who can stop them? Or... what if I'm meant to join them? We'll have to wait and see.
The Last Portal Jumper Book 2 is as you can probably guess, the second book in this series, and this second book delves more into the world building aspects, the magic system, and more skills. We see the main character tackle challenges like a pro, and while his advancement is faster than anyone expects, it may not be enough to get him out of the situation he finds himself slipping into. It's a decent enough read that I'll be reading the next one, and if you liked the first book, you'll probably like this one as well.
Cliffhangers get down rated. The story/writing is decent, and the plot is reasonably paced. However, it seems to be written specifically to have a cliffhanger instead of just poor planning. Sad.
This book is less sex driven than the first but sometimes felt a bit stereotypical. The protagonist totally forgot about keeping a low profile and even used his own name in contests. I was no fan of the racist hobbits.
I thought that this was actually quite a bit better than the first one. I left up a review for the ARC on Goodreads and it will probably be overwritten by this one.
Just finished my ARC of this one, I'm going to be completely honest with you and say if you have a strong dislike of cliffhanger endings then wait for book three to be released before reading this one. If you don't mind the cliffhanger then grab it. It's a decent way to kill a few hours. It picked up right were book one left off.
