To be a golfer is to tinker—with everything from equipment to grip to swing. But one thing most players don’t give enough attention to is the mental game. Psychologists aren’t a new phenomenon in golf, but Dr. Michael Lardon is a different breed of performance coach. Instead of sending his players into a losing battle against emotion, indecision, and fear on the golf course, he shows them how to organize their thoughts and use them for maximum performance. His step-by-step Pre-Shot Pyramid provides any player with the ideal blueprint for shot setup. And his revolutionary Mental Scorecard will give you the tools to accurately measure what you really do on the golf course and how to make real, permanent improvements. You will learn the same techniques that Dr. Lardon shares with Phil Mickelson and dozens of other tour players, including the tools that helped Mickelson right himself after the 2012 U.S. Open to win the British Open a month later with a historic final round. Mastering Golf’s Mental Game will change the way you think about golf, and is a must-read for any player serious about shooting better scores and getting more enjoyment out of the game.
Anyone serious about performing to the best of their ability will benefit from the Mental Scorecard Dr. Lardon has developed...his systematic approach is easily understood ... all the reader needs is the passion to put the knowledge taught into play daily
Dr. Lardon's book helped me find a consistent and repeatable pre-shot routine and gave me the tools to implement it on every stroke. The book is occasionally repetitive and spends an inordinate amount of time assuring the reader of the importance of these mental techniques rather than exploring them in any depth.
good book about how to master the mental side of golf... his pyramid of mental activities on each shot is something that i will follow up with after finishing the book. I would read another of his self help books, but i need to dive into the pyramid of how to think through my golf shot...
A great primer one the mental side of golf. Besides giving a broad understanding on how the mind influences a person's physical game, Lardon gives practical advice on how to improve the mental side of the game.
Very readable and practical guide to the mental skills of golf. It certainly motivates you to improve your own mental performance and this looks like being an important reference in the years ahead.
It’s all in your head... one of the best books I’ve read about getting focused on what you should be focused on when golfing. A must read if you’re a golfer.
Really good stuff. A little too verbose at times keep it from 5 stars, but the points made and mental scorecard absolutely shave strokes off of your golf round.
The in depth look at the mental game of golf, combined with the anecdotes used by the author make this a really interesting, quick and fascinating read.
A good book that explains high level topics about how to mentally ready yourself for a golf shot. Very repetitive and never really gets into details of the main point of the book
There is lots of information in this book. And it's good information. But for a weekend golfer just learning. I'd suggest something more to the basics of golf. Sometimes to much information can have a negative impact on your game.
