I was born and raised in Spanish Harlem, Queens, and the Bronx. As a New York kid, I remember riding graffiti-covered subways and hearing hip-hop blaring from parks and passing cars on the street. I loved my city. It was always buzzing with activity and different things for kids to see and do.
But I also loved to just sit and read. It started with daily comic strips like Peanuts by Charles Schulz. Then I discovered Mad Magazine and superhero comics like Batman, Spider-Man and Black Panther. These stories dealt with heroes and villains, innocence and guilt, freedom and justice. I became interested in justice and the legal system and was encouraged to become a lawyer. I had enjoyed working with kids as a counselor at a summer day camp, so I also thought about being a teacher. But after graduating from college, I knew that being a lawyer or a teacher just wasn’t right for me.
I found a temp job at DC Comics in midtown Manhattan. I answered phones, sorted mail, and did other small jobs. It wasn’t creative work, but I met cool people and got lots of free comics. That led to a full-time job in the Editorial Department. I went from reading comic books for fun, to working with legends in the comic book industry. Before long, I moved from DC Comics to Random House Children’s Books, where I’ve worked on a wide variety of Disney and Nickelodeon books over the last twenty years.
I’ve also written several Little Golden Books, including Black Panther, The Amazing Spider-Man, Falcon, Miles Morales: Spider-Man, I Am Captain Kirk and Too Many Tribbles! as well as My Little Golden Book about Jackie Robinson, Football with Dad and Soccer with Mom.
I'm not sure why the description stresses that boys will like this story, as it doesn't contain anything not featured in the movie and therefore enjoyable for both sexes, so don't let that deter you from getting or reading this to a female child.
The story is simple and the pictures rendered almost exactly from stills of the movie. Nothing spectacular or surprising here, but it's a good bedtime read for a younger toddler with a Frozen obsession.
The description of this book is terrible. It targets boys and says Kristoff and Sven are in it. This book is ONLY about Olaf. Both boys and girls who enjoy Olaf will enjoy this book. Someone needs to rewrite this description...
Anyway, it's a very short book basically straight out of Olaf's song about Summer. My daughter enjoyed the story because she just loves Olaf (I was never a fan until I had my daughter). This was a VERY short book. There is one sentence on each page. The illustrations are fun and colorful. It's a cute book for Olaf fans but not the best bedtime book due to how short it is. I didn't feel like my daughter really settled in to bedtime routine before it ended.
When Frozen first came out, Disney wasn't expecting it to be the smash it was and was dealing with a huge deficit in merchandise. This led to them quickly pumping out a bunch of rushed to market products which DEFINITELY has to include this book, consisting of low-res screenshots from Olaf's musical sequence in the first book over a short story. But hey, it does the trick.
Boys ages 3 to 7 will love this full-color storybook that features Kristoff and Sven from Disney's Frozen!
This book is about the famous Olaf, a snowman who loves summer. He explores the summer activities that most of the time would make him melt! This would be a fun book to read to kindergarteners or first graders. It is a very short simple book.
I think this book will be grate for little kids and the ones that love olf in the movie. my family really loved the movie so I know that other family's will two! good luck olf!
not.only her favorite movie but now her favorite book. and she can read.it herself. a nice little cute book. and a snowman who wants to live in the summer.what can go.wrong..
The description of this book on here is completely wrong. The entire book is about Olaf. I think anyone who likes Frozen will find this book a nice, quick read with a story that goes along with the movie.
This is Olaf's book. I am so glad to see they managed to stretch that one little song into a whole book for this great Disney character. Olaf tells us how much he loves summer and all the things he wants to do in summer making this a great summer vacation book.
