I could not put this book down. I am not usually into fantasy but really enjoyed this trilogy and it’s escapism. I had to cringe occasionally at a few things eg they really used the term antiseptic in medieval times , but on a whole kept me wanting to read more. Now finished and at avliss😔
The Quickening Omnibus is a handy boxset that contains the three (main) books in The Quickening series by Fiona McIntosh. This is high fantasy with magic, romance, drama, danger, intrigue, mystery, action, and adventure - a well-woven story that made for a fantastic read. One of my go-to authors as I am always guaranteed of a great read. As expected, she didn't disappoint! Well worth the read! Buddy Read - 2025 Happy Reading...
Have never been much of a fantasy fan, but loved this one. Intriguing and thoroughly believable from start to finish. I thought I had the ending pegged from somewhere in the second book, but I was well wide of the mark.
Take this as for the last book. The first of the trilogy was fabulous but then weakened in the 2nd one with improvement in this one. Seemed a bit of a rush to finish things off at the end and the frequent change of body for Ely became a bit farcical. Also i felt the Jesusification of Fynch was a bit off. That's my dislike of religion. Overall I think the trilogy would have been better as a long novel and then cut out the rest of the stuff that just seemed to drag it out into 3 books.
Wonderful author found this trilogy full of magic and characters but I had no trouble following the plot or the numerous number of characters. What an amazing imagination Fiona has to weave such an exciting fairytale. She is now a fan of mine n cant wait to read more of her books.🤗
It was suggested by the author Fiona McIntosh in my book club that I read this trilogy as I love her books. I’m not usually a fan of fantasy but this story had me enthralled and I loved it. The plot twists and turns and I thought i had figured out what would happen and I was wrong!! Wow, what a journey. I loved every page.
This was my first Fiona McIntosh book/series I read and I thoroughly enjoyed it! So many twists and turns. There weren’t any flat parts at all…the books flowed marvellously. Will definitely be reading more of her books
Reading all books as part of the Omnibus has taken some time but reading them back to back has made for a much more enjoyable read. Intriguing story line.
Although a good read, it offered too many long drawn out unnesasery areas and it’s ending chapters fell flat becoming confusing. However better suited for 12-16 yr old’s
