The Nightmare Before Christmas: I Am Santa discusses judging a book by its cover and that it is wrong to take something from someone else. In the story Santa judges the residents of Halloweentown as being purely scary and evil monsters, but Sally Nightmare helps him. Also, Jack tries to steal Christmas from Santa, but it ends up going horribly wrong. Jack realizes that he should not have stolen Christmas from Santa.
I believe this book is okay. It is not extremely impactful, but I do not believe it would be harmful either. The only thing that worries me is that it could seem too limiting. Jack does Halloween and Santa does Christmas, they can not switch. That could lead children to feel boxed in. I also do not believe this book works as a standalone if the children do not already know the story of The Nightmare Before Christmas.
A fun little story about Santa and all the things that happened to him in his time in Halloween Town. I do have to say something though... THIS ILLUSTRATOR NEEDS A RAISE! THE FACT THAT ALL OF THESE ILLUSTRATIONS IN THIS BOOK ARE COMPLETELY UNIQUE FROM THE REGULAR NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS LITTLE GOLDEN BOOK IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.
“I like the oogie boogie man and Santa, Saint Nicholas. And I like the guy at the end doing snow angels with an axe in his head. And I love Sally.” - Luke
