When Ridge Ledger’s SAR and avalanche dog discovers an injured woman, Ridge is surprised that she’s the woman who broke his heart two months ago---in California. Not Alaska. He doesn’t know why she’s not still in the Lower 48, and he’s caught off guard when she attacks him as if fighting for her life. He’s shocked to learn the woman he loved has forgotten him.
Uncovers a Hidden Threat.
Angie Harris—is that even her name? —can’t recall who she is. She doesn’t know whom to trust, except for the man who rescued her from a cold dark cave and a grizzly bear. But she can’t forget the face of the one who tried to kill her. Remembering the reason that she came to Alaska is vital to her survival, and as it turns out, Ridge’s survival too.

Avalanche Specialist Ridge Ledger is out on a mountain with his search and rescue dog Thunder when he finds an injured woman buried in the snow. Surprised that she is still alive, Ridge takes a good look at her and is shocked to see that it is his old girlfriend. What is Angie doing out here? When she wakes up in the hospital, Angie has no memory of who she is or why she is in the hospital. She knows Ridge as the man who rescued her; but has no idea that they used to mean something to each other. What she does remember is a man trying to kill her when she fell off a cliff into a snowdrift. Angie knows she must remember exactly what happened before the man finds her to finish her off.
Elizabeth Goddard is the "Author of the Month" in one of my Goodreads groups. I chose this story because it was short, and I wanted to read something set in Alaska since I am headed there at the end of the week. I made a big mistake when I downloaded it from Audible. I didn't check to see who was narrating the story. Turns out this book is narrated by Virtual Voice. I thought I'd give it a try. I really should have just found something else to listen to. The descriptions of the scenery wasn't bad; but the dialogue delivery was laughable. It threw me right out of the story over and over again. The scene and chapter breaks are abrupt. In one sentence Angie is talking to Ridge. In the next sentence he is having dinner with friends. How did that happen?
From the many reviews I read, this is probably a good story. Of course, I saw no signs that those reviewers had listened to the audiobook narrated by Virtual Voice. My rating is based solely on the narration and it was AWFUL. Stay far away from Virtual Voice and read the actual book instead. My rating: 1 Star.
This book reaches out to grab the reader’s attention from the very first sentence and doesn’t let go until the end. Ridge Ledger’s SAR and avalanche dog, Thunder, leads Ridge to an injured woman. Angie Harris is unconscious and in need of help. With amnesia hampering the search for answers, Ridge and Angie work together to try to unravel what happened and why. I found the storyline to be very well written with a blend of fear, hope, romance and faith that flowed together perfectly. There are twists and turns that the reader won’t see coming!
My review today is on the Christian Romantic Suspense. Dawn's Hidden Threat. This novella is the conclusion of the series Missing in Alaska. If you've read any of my post you know I'm a huge fan of Elizabeth's work. I'm on her launch team and can't wait to get my hands on the next book. This story is well-written, action-packed, and full of faith. The perfect end to an awesome series. I know you are going to love it.
DEA Agent Angie Greenwood has her gun on her man. She is about to shoot the man when the snow and earth fall out from under her. She wakes up to slobbery kisses by a K-9. Where is she? What happened? Who is she?
Ridge Ledger is out using a drone's to predict avalanche data. Thunder, his K-9 is off the clock and running all over. He finds him in a cave inside the mountain. He sniffed and nudged a lump on the ground. A body! She was alive. He couldn't risk moving her. He went outside the cave to call for help when the woman's fist hit his face. Angie! Could this really be the woman he loved? She had left him and not looked back.
A terrifying journey to keep Angie safe when she couldn't remember her own name. God has a plan for these two, a plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan for peace and not for destruction. Make Him Lord of your life and watch Him move in your life.
The action in this romantic suspense thriller is non-stop and made my pulse race with its realism. Set in Shadow Gap, Alaska, this is the story of an avalanche expert named Ridge and a former girlfriend from the lower states who shows up injured and with amnesia. Angie doesn’t remember why she came to Shadow Gap but she does know that she is in danger. The gradual return of her memory gave a lot of clues to her real identity as well as why she had left Ridge behind at Mammoth Mountain. This novella is perfect for reading in one sitting and enjoying all of the tension and drama of escaping into danger with an Elizabeth Goddard book. A prequel to the Missing in Alaska series, this book can be read as a standalone. I have already read the series and enjoyed my visit to Shadow Gap and some of the familiar characters like Sheriff Autumn Long. This short novel is a thrill ride with believable characters and a runaway roller coaster pace. Disclaimer Disclosure of Material Connection: I purchased a copy of this book as part of the “Heroes in the Crossfire” collection of novellas. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.
Dawn’s Hidden Threat : A Missing In Alaska Romantic Suspense novella Elizabeth Goddard This is a suspenseful novella, Dawn’s Hidden Threat, from the series A Missing in Alaska Romantic suspense. I was grabbed from the start and held on till the end. This is Ridge and Angie’s story. Ridge and his avalanche dog finds a woman in a cave. Why is she attacking Ridge. She looks like someone he knew, but why would she be here and in a cave? She seems to have a memory problem. This is a novella full of mystery and suspense so hang on tight and don’t let go. It is up to Ridge and his dog to get her to safety. Can he do this with someone after her? I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
If you read Cold Light of Day, you need to read this follow-up novella. The action is fast and furious. A man finds an injured woman in the snowy Alaskan wilderness. She doesn’t recognize him due to amnesia. She is the woman he fell in love with when they both worked at a ski resort. But is she really who she said she is? And will she regain her memory and realize who he is? I know amnesia occurs much more in fiction than in real life, but this doesn’t seem contrived. Some of the characters are from the previous Missing in Alaska books so you don’t want to miss this.
"I don't know why I was in the cave. I don't know where home is. I don't know if my name is really Angie."
Surviving a fall off the side of an Alaskan slope, Angie Harris is left with a head injury and very little memory. The man who finds her is shocked to realize that he knows her, rather well actually, but she has no recollection of their prior relationship. As Angie slowly regains bits and pieces of herself, the reason for her being anywhere near Ridge Ledger becomes clear . . . . . DANGER AHEAD!!!
Wow! Lots of action and thrills in this one! I enjoyed this book.
Angie Greenwood is facing down a killer on a mountain covered in snow! Will she be able to kill him or will he kill her? Then the snow gives way under her - what? Ridge Ledger and his avalanche-rescue dog, Thunder are on the mountain doing mapping and Thunder finds Angie in a hidden cave. Will she survive? will the killer find her? Does she and Ridge have a past history?
Set in Shadow Gap, Alaska, Dawn's Hidden Threat is the prequel novella to the Missing in Alaska series. This novella follows Ridge who rescues his ex-girlfriend Angie with the help of his dog. Angie has amnesia and cannot remember who she is or why she's in Shadow Gap. As her memory gradually returns, she starts remembering her true identity, why she had broken up with Ridge, and why she came to Shadow Gap. This was a quick romantic suspense read with nonstop action.
I think I'd read this book for the cover alone! It's fantastic! I love this series and even though it's a novella, it packs a punch! It pretty much develops the plot and the characters well enough in the short term to give the reader a satisfying feeling! I really liked both Ridge and Angie's characters. The suspense was excellent too. It introduces the other characters that will continue in the remaining books. Great read!
For an 88 page novella, Dawn's Hidden Threat is a complete story. I loved her characters and their interactions filled in the gaps that would usually be missing in a short book. I love the Shadow Gap location and revisiting some old friends. This novella is an inspirational suspense that is entertaining with scattered references of relationships with God, without feeling like religion was forced on the reader. All in all, I loved it! 5 stars
ridge and his dog are out on the mountain when the dog takes off and then finds a woman in a cave. he check her and finds her alive and someone from his past. he takes her to the hospital but she cannot remember anything from her past. now the person she is running from is in town. this is a well written suspense story.
I love a good story full of suspense and surprises. This one did not disappoint! Elizabeth Goddard is a favorite author. This novella is part of the Missing in Alaska suspense series. It can be read first or later. Since I have read others in the series I enjoyed references to characters from the other books.
I would really like to be able to say this was a great book. But I honestly couldn't tell because of the virtual voice on the audiobook. DO NOT HAVE AI NARRATE YOUR BOOK. It can't do it right. There are so many amazing audiobook narrators. The premise seemed great. I liked the last few chapters. So I'm giving it three stars based on story alone.
This is a wonderful story about Ridge and Angie. What happens when someone from your past shows up? Angie does not remember who she is or why she is there. This is a great book that had me on the edge of my seat. I had to see what was coming next.
What a great story! It was suspenseful, intriguing and extremely well written. I loved the characters and Shadow Gap. I cannot wait to read more about Shadow Gap and the people who live there.
I love anything written by Elizabeth Goddard and this novella is no exception. Angie had amnesia and a killer after her, and didn't remember breaking up with Ridge and why she was in Alaska, so lots of action.
I have read the other Hidden in Alaska books and his novella didn't disappoint. I highly recommended it and he other books. You really can't go wrong with anything by Elizabeth Goddard.
I didn’t realize this story existed until I’d read the first and second books of the series, but I like Angie and wanted to know more about her story, so of course I had to backtrack and read this one. It was great getting to know Angie and Ridge better and seeing how they came to Shadow Bay.
