Silent Love

Rate this book
Former Navy SEAL Sean Millen has been perfectly fine with his bachelorhood until recently, when he realizes he's unhappy with his single status. Unfortunately, his playboy reputation doesn't offer him the type of woman that could fulfill his days and nights as well as settle into the specific life he envisions.

Four years ago, Beth Connors' world was entirely altered. Beth spends her days trying to remain invisible in order to avoid unwanted attention. Each night she sheds grief-filled tears over the former life she once led but will never be able to regain.

When Beth literally runs into him. Doctor Sean Millen. A force of nature. A rock. A reputable heartbreaker, who takes an immediate interest in her, there's no place for her to hide. But Beth's natural instinct to push Sean away to save herself and him from the difficult task of adjusting their lives to her shortcomings is always front and center. Yet, Beth secretly longs for love. Is she strong enough to tear down the walls of her self-imposed prison?

Sean finds himself falling for a woman who is determined to reject his every advance and deny their surprisingly deep connection. Can Sean push past Beth's concrete walls that she refuses to destroy? Or will Beth's shocking revelation of her past prevent them from finding the love they both deserve? Or will a tragic accident pull Sean and Beth apart permanently?

What utter drivel. If that wasn't bad enough, the heroine was an immature child who was forever crying over one thing or another. Pathetic.

I really disliked this hook that it almost made me want to chuck my ereader across the room. First I was really frustrated with the heroine who was a total wet wipe of a character. She recently became deaf due to an explosion a few years back, and because of her disability she became an introvert as well as bullied and harassed at work. So she's the perfect damsel in distress for the hero, Sean who is a doctor at the hospital she works ay.

But wait! Beth ends up getting fired after years of suffering sniggering sexual harassment when she finally fights back. Although I don't understand why she could secretly record the harrassers and sue the administration for sexual harassment and bullying. But it was the perfect opportunity for Sean to come to her rescue. At this point of the book it was a meh read and very disappointing with the depiction of Beth's disability especially with her low self esteem which didn't appeal to me because it felt like it was a plot point to make her out this speshul Cinderella to be rescued by a Prince. But in this case she had no charm, and no personality and was very one dimensional.

However the moment the book went really downhill for me is the craptastic plot with Sean's cousin who railed at Beth who was a witness to her husband's assassination during the explosion which caused her hearing. Not on this scene didn't make any sense but it was full on high drama and even violence that made me dislike all of the characters and once again Beth became a freaking victim.

So I wont recommend this book especially with how the disability issues and themes were dealt with, also the romance which should be cracky for me felt flat and uninspired along with a stupid subplot that just grated on me.

Oh dear. Let me preface this by saying I want to really enjoy all the books I read. But that’s impossible. I doubt there’s one ever written that is beloved by all. So while others might enjoy this book, it didn’t work on any level for me.

Beth, our heroine. Can we spell d.o.o.r. m.a.t.? Oh she was a horrid creature. She had an accident four years previous to the start of the story where she lost her hearing and one would think she would have adjusted four years after the fact, but nope, not our Beth. She hasn’t bothered to learn sign language. She tried once but it was just too hard, poor, poor Beth (yes sarcasm). She hasn’t done anything to get involved with a support group. She hasn’t done anything to help herself and her new reality. Instead what she does is cry. And cry. And cry. She cries all the way through the bloody book. If she had been a real person I would have long since slapped her and said “shit happens. Deal with it.”

She works in the administration part of a hospital and doesn’t get out much. She always eats at her desk because the mean people make fun of her (yes sarcasm again) When she meets Sean, he really wants to get to know her better but she doesn’t want to because she’s dear you know and if she were to get into a good relationship she might not have the excuse to cry as much. But then as you will see, good ole Sean isn’t too healthy himself in my opinion.

Sean, our hero. *Shudder*. He’s a former Navy Seal now a doctor. When he meets Beth, he’s smitten and ready to give up his dog ways and settle down. Why so with Beth is a mystery. She cries, she’s annoyingly attached to her parents. She’s also much younger than Sean. But he will not be deterred.

Then once he wears her down and they start to get serious it really gets creepy. He lives with his younger brother Ryan, another former Navy Seal and now a nurse. But get this. They come as a package deal. Sean insists that any woman who lives with him must also live with Ryan as they refuse to be parted. This whole scenario gives me the willies. Ryan wouldn’t be part of their ‘bedroom activities’ but then he doesn’t have to be. He’s just a love machine all on his own, constantly bringing women home and he and discretion are not linked in any way shape or form.
There is not a chance in the world I would accept living with the brother of some guy in his late 30’s who has a dog in heat brother. Nope, would never happen.

And then we have Sean and Ryan’s wacky cousin. Now she has had her own book which I have no desire to read. Apparently her husband and hero of a former book is an Irish crime lord. How a crime lord can be a hero is a mystery to me – a mystery I’m OK with. Anyway, when Beth and cousin meet, cousin smacks Beth in the face. I completely didn’t get the explanation even though they gave one. One guess as to Beth’s reaction? You got it. She cries, boohoo boohoo. Oh she couldn’t keep seeing Sean and risk a rift in his family. And if that weren’t enough and if I didn’t already hate to pieces and pieces, she figures Sean would like children but she can’t (or to be more specific won’t) because she wouldn’t be able to hear them cry. I guess in her world anyone with any kind of disability shouldn’t have children. So what does she do? She runs home to Mommy and Daddy crying all the way. I so dislike heroines who constantly cry while being a card carrying member of Women’s Martyrs Group.

Of course it’s a romance and all bad stuff is resolved. I just hope Sean learns from Dr. Phil and always has a supply of hanky’s handy because boy, is he going to need them.

The heroine cries all the time. Over everything and nothing. It was ridiculous. Also the heroine has breast implants. She said her ex-boyfriend wanted her to have them so she got them. What a pushover. I have trouble respecting a character who gets breast implants because her ex wanted her to.

Basically the hero was the only reason to read this book. He's a former SEAL who is now a doctor.

It also sends a bad message that when you're being sexually harassed, repeatedly, at your job, that there is no reason to file a lawsuit. Such a stupid message. The heroine should have filed a lawsuit against the hospital. Maybe the later books in the series have better heroines.

Also the drama with Courtney, the hero's cousin was over the top and felt off. Who slaps a deaf woman in the face because she doesn't remember the guy in a car that exploded that caused her to lose her hearing?

I'll read the brother's book. Hopefully there is a better heroine.

Ok, is it just me or was the relationship between Sean and Ryan just a tad bit weird? No, really...it can't be just me! I get that they were close but to make the woman they marry agree to live with the other brother was just plain creepy! The writing seemed a little juvenile at times and some details were glossed over and should have been pointed out in the beginning. For the longest time, I thought Ryan was a doctor when in actuality, he was a nurse. Also, there were several editing mistakes such including when in the beginning, Sean tells Beth how old he is but apparently, it didn't sink in because she asked him again, a few pages later. The whole "mafia cousin" was a bit over the top as well and Courtney deserved Sean's wrath towards the end. I wonder if Jarrett and Russ will get their own books? Overall, it was an o.k. story with some weird, creepy overtones.

OTT trope ridden characters and story. The H is a doctor, who screams, fights and seems very violent. His female cousin, married to a mob boss is having a mis-carriage when she's introduced to the story. Weird setting, later the H punches her in the face - by accident, but still - weird. The h is overly sweet and just so pathetic. She's super smart, but been in an accident and is now deaf, so the hospital staff bully her. Her father is angry as the H is older than her? I just couldn't read this - too many tropes.

Former Navy SEAL Sean Millen had a reputation of being a bachelor who was not looking for commitment. When he bumps into Beth Connors though everything changes and for the first time Sean finds himself in unchartered waters. Beth has her own fears to contend with without venturing into a relationship with Sean, for Beth is deaf and she knows that no man wants to contend with that. However, Sean is not just any man and it doesn't bother Sean one bit that Beth can't hear and he plans to show her in every way possible that she is meant to be his.

This had a few unexpected turns and opens the door for more in the series. I liked Beth a lot, she is a strong woman but doesn't really realize it herself. Sean is adorable, he is so patient with Beth and there is no doubt that he loves her. Wonderful read.

This story was okay I guess. But I couldn't move over about how close this brothers were; I love a good brotherhood in books but you don't need the guys LIVING together FOREVER. It was weird

Review By Rory Lampley

Former Seal Sean Millen is a Cardiologist at the local hospital living the bachelors life. Sean is every woman's dream man but has a reputation along with his hot brother Ryan as a playboy. Starting to feel like the bachelor life doesn't appeal to him anymore he has a run in with the beautiful raven haired Beth Connors.

Beth Connors is a beautiful woman who works in the hospitals administration department. Like all the other women on staff at the hospital Beth thinks that Dr. Millen is totally gorgeous. Like many women Beth has insecurities of her own and has built walls around her heart. Four years ago Beth was in an accident which left her deaf, which also caused her to isolate herself and the possibility of finding love. Feeling completely out of her league, Beth tries to avoid all of Sean's advances of trying to start a relationship with her. Sean on the other hand won't take No for an answer and is very persistent in trying to win Beth over with his good looks and charm. Finally Sean gets Beth to accept a lunch date with him. From the beginning they have this undeniable connection. If anyone should be together, these two should be. Will the love and connection that these two have for one another make them strong enough to deal with the obstacles that try to get in their way? In this story you will also get to meet Sean's brother Ryan Millen. Ladies, I promise, you will be swooning and drooling over Ryan. These two brothers share an unbreakable bond. Their dedication, love, and support for each other is dynamic. Just like with their relationship they also have the outmost respect for the women in their life and are fearlessly protective of each other and the women they love.

This is a story about love that brings hope and a love that can overcome anything, regardless of the twists and turns of life. This book has passion, and heartache and an enduring love that makes the reader believe that we all can get that Happily Ever After that we all seek.

This is not my first book by Casey Clipper. Casey is a phenomenal writer. In her writing you can feel her passion for her characters and the story that she is writing. I will always be a fan and will read everything that this creative and fantastic author writes. Casey Clipper simply is an author in a league of her own!

Silent but the love is loud and clear!

“I want to hear your voice, to know your sound, to hear you say the words ‘I love you’”.

This story struck a chord with me and has instantly become a “must read” series for me. Sean Millen is a doctor, a former Navy SEAL and is a bit of a man whore. He has a fulfilling career that keeps him too busy to sustain a real relationship, or that is his excuse. Sean changes his mind quickly after running into Beth Connors. The quiet billing clerk does everything she can to blend into the woodwork while keeping herself aloof from everyone around her. She is still grieving the changes in her life and struggles for a new normalcy. Sean is smitten and is going to do everything he can to break down any barriers there may be between them. Little did he know the secrets Beth held could easily keep them apart for good.

I LOVED this book. The writing style and dialogue are natural; the characters are a wonderful blend of down to earth, funny and loving. The cover of this book grabbed my attention right away and Sean lived up to any expectations I might have had going in. I read a lot of books so when a story can reach out and grab me right away – and keep me hooked to read it all in one sitting – I know I have found a gem. A refreshing plot with enough twists to keep it interesting this has a level of heat requiring the fan stay on high. I can’t wait to read more about the Millen brothers – bring on the next in the series!

When I read The Boss's Love, I thought Derrick Murphy was the ants pants.. The hottest man to walk the face of the earth... Then I read Silent Love & met Sean Millen... Ummm, Derrick who???
Ladies get ready to meet Sean.. Ex Navy SEAL & hot as sin Doctor. He is also cousin to Courtney who is married to the Mob boss Derrick Murphy.
Sean meets Beth and they have an instant connection. Sean is super protective of Beth & will not allow anyone to hurt or mess with her.
When the two of them come together it is a match made in heaven. Right up until Beth & Courtney meet... Then all hell breaks loose & Sean finds himself in a situation no one saw coming & he has to make a choice.
Casey has hit it out of the ball park with this fabulous story about how love can overcome anything. This story just goes to show that sometimes blood is not thicker than water!!
If you are looking for an action packed, stunningly beautiful & sexy romance with not only a strong alpha male but a strong independent woman who can hold her on but also has vulnerabilities that she is not afraid to show, then you really need to one click Silent Love.
Casey has outdone herself with this book & you will find yourself holding your breath waiting to see what happens next most of the way through!!
I loved it & 5 stars is not enough!!!!

Sean is a cardiac surgeon, 38, and single. He lives with his best friend, his brother Ryan. Sean and Ryan are more like identical twins than simply brothers. They are both former Navy Seals and drop dead gorgeous.

Beth is 28, single, beautiful, and works at the hospital handling medical claims. She has also been deaf for over 4 years. Beth suffers from insecurity due to her deafness.

When Sean and Beth meet, he is determined they will have a relationship. Beth thinks she will be a burden and is unworthy. Sean sets out to prove to Beth that she is deserving of a good life and worthy of his love.

I really enjoyed this book. I can relate to the characters and the situations. The plot moves at a good pace. I like the way the characters work out their difficulties through open, honest communication like mature adults. I could understand Beth's parents being overly protective. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Sean and Ryan.

That being said, I felt the inclusion of Courtney to add extra drama was unneccessary and detracted from my overall enjoyment of the book. Beth dealing with her entirely understandable insecurities and Sean learning how to get Beth to understand how special she was to him was all the story needed. I would have given it 5 Stars except for this.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes HEA Romances.

This is one of those books that has sat on my to be read list for what seems like forever. All I can think is why did I wait so long to pick up this book? I’m like an addict that just can’t wait for her next fix. I’ll be downloading book two straight away.
If you are like me and have this book on your TBR shelf take it out now . You won’t be able to put it down, and certainly be hungry for more in this, Love Series.

Sean and Ryan are every woman’s dream, but it’s going to take someone extra special to reach their hearts, not just get into their pants. Ryan isn’t complaining about all the female action he’s getting, but I am sure that will change in time. Just like his brother, Sean he’ll be swept away by that one real special lady.

Beth a woman that exists, but isn’t really living. It’s such a heartwarming story. She’s been through so much, and lives with what happened to her everyday since. It certainly by no means can be easy for her, but if anyone can show her a way to live it’s Sean.

I’m unsure about one character in this story, Courtney. Her motives seem from the heart, but are they for her benefit? There is definitely a story there, I’m hoping that we get to here.

Pain, loss, family, friendship, love even the mob are in this story. It’s jam packed with page turning events. Thank God I read on my kindle, I would have probably rip a page with the speed I was turning them.

I’m also certain I’ll will be working my way through all of this Author’s books. Her style of writing has struck a chord for me.
If you love all things romance I highly recommend you download.

Honestly Beth and Sean's story got overrun by Courtney and Sean's relationship issues.

When Courtney (wrongfully) slapped Beth (for something completely out of her control and not her fault), I understood Sean's anger at Courtney. But he makes statements about how she's selfish and overly dramatic. Where are the examples (besides the current one)? How do you blow away years of a basically sibling relationship over this one moment.

Does Courtney deserve a verbal smackdown? Yes. Does Courtney also need to learn how to stop manipulating people and learning how to let things lie? Absolutely. But Sean also never apologized for (accidentally) smacking Courtney in the face.

Also, reading more about Derrick... I get he's all about taking care of Courtney (as he should be) but honestly, the further breakdown of Courtney and Sean's relationship was also because of him. Derrick took back his promises and turned a monetary gift into a loan. He tried time and again to use his influence and his physical back up to try and force Sean to do what Courtney wanted (to repair their relationship). Seriously... As his wife, Courtney should get control of that and just respect Sean's wishes if he truly cannot have her in his life anymore.

Ugh. Courtney pissed me off so much. And this drama goes on for all the successive books. Facepalm.

Pleasantly surprised. I bought this book several years ago but just picked it up. Sean is a doctor at the VA hospital and literally runs into Beth in the hallway where she works. Sean is smitten, but Beth keeps her distance. A horrible accident took her hearing and men have used her and made fun of her by saying and doing things behind her back. Sean is persevering until she relents and goes out with him. A lot of things happen to Beth, causing an upheaval in Sean's family. I enjoyed this story. Non-stop action and I loved the characters. I listened to his on audiobook, and the narrator did a good job.

Silent love offers a chance to find love in the most unlikely situations. There are shockers and then heartbreaking moments in this love story. It's about letting down your guard and overcoming the past to see what can happen type story. It was nice to see how all of it played out.

Definitely will read rest of series.

Fantastic!

I bought this book a long time ago, but I wish I had read it back when I first got it! I love how the heroine is disabled, because I can identify more with her than most other heroines. I am disabled myself, so that I can semi understand what she is going through. It was well written and very readable. Keep writing such great books!

As a disabled person I love encountering characters dealing with their disabilities in a realistic way and Ms. Clipper does that fairly well in this story with Beth who became deaf four years ago in a tragic event. Not only has she created a personable heroine but a hero that is truly drool-worthy in the former Navy SEAL turned doctor, Sean. He enjoys the ladies and they enjoy him as he's sexy and charming. He's also very dedicated to family as seen by his brother joining the service with him and the two of them sharing a home. Up until now Sean was happy with his bachelor life but the day he met Beth he became a different man, one who set out to prove he was worthy of her and willing to do whatever it takes to keep her safe and happy. No matter how much she pushes him away he's there supporting her and giving her time to cope with her dark moments.

Beth goes through a lot of emotional turmoil in this book as she's harassed at work because of her disability and fears that no man will ever want her because of her disability. Sean isn't the kind of man to let what he wants get away from him though so it's a subtle battle of the sexes as theirs is a rocky road to HEA due to outside forces and inner heartache. Beth is still trying to cope with her loss and keeping events from her past secret that end up intertwining with Sean's cousin Courtney which forces him to choose between love and family. Throughout this rocky journey events keep befalling Beth, like her home catching fire, that leave us rooting for her and feeling deep sympathy for her. She deals with it as best she can but there were times I found her a bit too quick to cry. In most other ways I liked her.

This story truly belongs to Sean though as it's told mostly from his perspective. He's a wonderful hero who protects Beth no matter the cost. Their romance teems with sexual tension from their first encounter as their relationship evolves from sweet to sexy with him charming her every step of the way, as well as us. His brother Ryan is also a charmer who forms a deep and loyal friendship with Beth giving her even more support to get through the pain of her past. I long to see his story told as he has hero material written all over him. Some of the events that befell Beth throughout the story felt a bit over-the-top and took away some of the story's believability but I applaud her rising above it all with the supportive Sean by her side. Though Sean was introduced in a previous book of Ms. Clipper's it's not necessary to have read it to enjoy this one. With her heartwarming yet sexy storytelling ability though readers will want to add more of her books to their bookshelf.

This was a good story. I liked Sean and Beth and their story was interesting. This was the first story I've read by this author and I liked it enough that I might consider trying more of her work in the future.

Beth is an insurance claims person that works for a local VA hospital. Beth is beautiful but lost her hearing due to an accident around 5 years ago and it destroyed her life. Beth's been trying to rebuild her life but people aren't kind and she's had a hard time adjusting to life without being able to hear.

Sean is a doctor in a VA hospital and an Ex Navy SEAL. He went into the military for money for college but liked his time while in there. Sean has a brother, Ryan, who he's very close to...they work together and live together. They're also both man-whores until Sean meets Beth.

Sean and Ryan are leaving the hospital one day and Beth literally runs into Sean. Sean is immediately attracted and wants to see Beth again and a few days later he finds her in the cafeteria at lunch. Sean manages to get Beth to go out with him but it's not easy. Beth has had a lot of issues with men taking advantage of her lack of hearing, often saying or doing nasty things behind her back thinking she'll be none the wiser. Because of this, Beth has a hard time believing in any man and doesn't believe any guy would actually want a deaf girlfriend and be willing to deal with the hassles that go with her.

Sean has his work cut out for him because Beth's first instinct is to back off if something happens that could lead to her getting hurt. Sean works hard at making progress with Beth and does, slowly but surely. Ryan even gets involved, treating Beth like a sister and making sure she's comfortable with being drawn into their family. Despite Beth's leeriness, things go well between Beth and Sean but there are some difficulties that threaten their happiness, including Sean's cousin and a connection to Beth's past. Beth and Sean have some issues that threaten them and there's some danger and drama but in the end, they come through it together and starting their HEA.

This was an enjoyable story. I liked Beth, regardless of her tenancy towards shyness to avoid standing up for herself. I liked Sean very much and can't think of any complaints about him. I did feel that there were some points of the story that seemed more distracting than helpful and the Courtney storyline felt like it was left hanging...maybe it'll get resolved in the next book. Outside of that I did like the story but I'm not sure if I'll go on to the next book.

* note - I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did a good job.

I was provided this book for an exchange for an honest review. The story grabbed my attention right from the start with Sean Millen. Sean is a former navy seal that now is a handsome yummy doctor working for the Veterans hospital. Sean does everything with his brother Ryan who also works with him at the hospital and is just as dreamy. Sean is very big into his family and enjoys spending time with his cousin Courtney and her kids. Courtney is married to a huge mob boss that is very protective. One day while he is at the hospital he runs smack dab into a girl that takes his breath away by the name of Beth Connors. She is beautiful and he wants to know more about her. Beth works in the same hospital and does medical billing, but she has her insecurities, because of what happened to her four years ago that has left her deaf. Sean wins her over by sending chocolate treats to her to get on her good side, that’s a big plus for chocolate lovers. Beth is still getting harassment problems at work ends up getting her fired and Sean quits due to him being enraged. He then decides to take Courtney up on her offer to get a loan from her husband to open his own office. Ryan and Beth’s relationship also grows due to him living with Sean and he becomes a good friend. Their relationship blooms and they decided to meet the families. Things go crazy with learning of the accident that has ties with Courtney and things get out of control. It only rips a bigger whole in Beth’s heart and making Sean chose his love over family. If that was not all, during the process Beth’s house burns down, but in a way the tragic occurrence helps mend bounds that were severed with Courtney and Sean to a degree. Sean does get his office off the ground with Beth working for him and does have a wonderful ending that brought happy tears to my eyes. The story brings the characters out of the book and everything that happens to them happens in everyday lives. The story draws you in and keeps you wanting to know what will happen and your heart will go out for Beth and Sean.
