Sadly most of this I had already read as part of the original manga run. But I'm supporting Moa, so there we go.

one obviously only reads these after they finish hatoful boyfriend, which only starts with the premise of being a pigeon dating simulation and escalates in storyline so fast your jaw hasn't even time to metaphorically hit the floor before you're up at three am in the morning reading frantically through the events of the secret ending. so, yes, the books themselves, as standalones, are not stellar. because they make no sense if you haven't played the games. but they're sort of brilliant add ons for a wacky game that should have been just an parody and turns out to be way more than that (and actually, sort of, well, gives short shrift to the dating aspect, unless you count the part where it's an automatic game over if you don't seem to like anyone).

You're not going to get too much out of this unless you've read through the Hatoful Boyfriend visual novels, so immediately this ranks as "for fans only" material.
The art is relatively nice and clean, and the "plots" / slice-of-life situations are cute, but you won't really get anything more than a half-hearted chuckle out of these.
EDIT: To clarify, I'm really giving this a lower rating than the others purely because a majority of content here comes from the free Hatoful Boyfriend serialization, yet the price for this item is higher than the other volumes. You're essentially paying more for a fragment.
