The ACLU vs. America: Exposing the Agenda to Redefine Moral Values

Rate this book
As a result of the work of the American Civil Liberties Union and their war on America, we now live in a country where the church has been progressively silenced, parental authority has been undermined, children are less safe, and human life continues to be cheapened-both at birth and death. While the ACLU and its allies in the media have positioned themselves as the great defenders of freedom, they are in reality eliminating the freedoms of millions of Americans. Sadly, most Americans are unaware of the extreme positions of the ACLU.But there is hope. Many Americans are waking up to the dangerous agenda of the ACLU. The ACLUvs. America will clue readers in to the culture wars afoot and will equip them to become effective agents for liberty and freedom against the ACLU's onslaught.

I give this a two-and-a-half star rating. This is not an objective look at the ACLU. The authors are members of the Alliance Defense Fund, which is an organization created to primarily battle the ACLU in court and work with those that the ACLU has targeted. That being said, it does give a brief history of the founding of the ACLU including brief bios of some of the ACLU founders. Most of the founding members were socialists, and their original 'cause' was freedom of speech.

The book is broken into chapters on legal target areas including, same-sex marriage, abortion, religion--separation of church and state issues, pornography, and the 'war on Christmas'.

Over time the ACLU has become a deep pocket organization that can target small municipalities and individuals and force their ideology on them through threat of law suits. I think some of their agenda may have started with good intentions, the group seems to gotten out of hand with power/money hungry leadership. Although I also don't agree with much of the ADF policies either, I see the necessity of such a group in supporting the financial underdogs that the ACLU attacks.

The appendices include information for churches and school officials that could potentially become ACLU targets. The third appendix is on Thomas Jefferson's 'Wall of Separation' and how it was used to redefine Church-State law. I found this particularly interesting.

Sad to see what people squabble about in our country. 'Can't we all get along?' --Rodney King

If you are totally pro-ACLU, or anti-ACLU this book isn't for you. If you like to think through these issues, and can recognize the biased presentation you might want to check this out.

This book was a huge eye opener! It is amazing the kind of stuff the ACLU has been getting away with under the screen of protecting civil liberties! It made me angry. I would recomend this to anyone except the liberals.

Co-authors Alan Sears and Craig Osten unveil the history and present-day focus of the American Civil Liberties Union in The ACLU vs. America. Those who have comfortably pictured the ACLU as an organization dedicated to passionately defending larger principles of civil liberties, while occasionally arguing on the "wrong" side in order to pursue a greater legal principle, are in for a shock. Sears and Osten's well documented work exposes an organization whose functional goal appears to be to aggressively and methodically inhibit and repress Judeo-Christian ethics, while promoting and protecting competing or oppositional value systems, regardless of the civil liberties issues involved. In fact, according to evidence presented in The ACLU vs. America, the ACLU's legal arguments are oftentimes inconsistent, depending on its desired objectives. For example, the ACLU has argued against parental authority with regard to values-based public school presentations and the ability of minors to obtain abortions, but argued for parental authority when attacking a law that prevented parents from sending teenagers to a nudist camps with out a parent, grandparent or legal guardian. pp.58-59 It has argued against the inclusion of Judeo-Christian images in public places in city after city, but remained silent when the City of San Jose, despite public protest, installed a 25 ft. long statue of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl in a public park. p.139

A knee-jerk response to the platform of The ACLU vs. America could be to regard it solely of interest to conservatives embracing Judeo-Christian values. However, I found the numerous quotes of non-religious, liberals--some former supporters or staff--who have been disaffected by the ACLU to be fascinating. (""At this point I would rather have a right-wing Christian decide my fate than an ACLU attorney." -- Eleanor Smith, a self-described liberal agnostic who is confined to a wheelchair because of polio." p. 99) The ACLU vs. America is an interesting read for anyone who is interested in current events or public policy, regardless of political affiliation.

I read this to learn more about the ACLU. This book was written with its own agenda, that includes fundraising to fight the efforts of the ACLU and it also makes assumptions about the reader's faith that may not be mainstream. I had heard about how objective the ACLU has been on issues like free speech, but this book focuses on breaking down this by showing where the ACLU picks and chooses its battles that only further its agenda instead of objectively supporting all. It paints a picture that the ACLU is anti-religion and they push things to the extreme.

As long as you understand that it is an extreme position in the book, then you can still glean useful information about the legal battles they are involved in. That was the best part of this book, hearing both sides in the legal cases and the justifications they used and where legal precedent was used to arrive at certain judgements. The book was tedious though and at times redundant. I did stick through it though and appreciate the work involved.

One of the most eye opening accounts of the direction our country is heading. Looking at where we are towards the end of 2021, this book basically predicts the future. A must read to anyone who truly wants to be "woke"

Before reading this book, it was tempting for me to regard the ACLU as an organization that had good intent lost amidst overzealous pursuit of liberty. This, however, is not the case.

We already know that the ACLU supports KKK members, child pornography, and the banning of Christmas carols-- but what this book carefully uncovers is that these few examples are just part of an overall agenda of secularizing America through the promotion of freedom above all else. This is simultaneously duplicitous too, because the ACLU works to restrict the religious liberty of Christians and Jews.

I challenge you to read the book. The evidence is clear. Moreover, you need not rely solely on the author's opinion. His text is EXTENSIVELY footnoted, and he encourages you to verify for yourself, that the ACLU really is an enemy of Christian and Jewish Americans who hold traditional values.

This is a must read! It is intellectually honest, written in truth (which can be depressing) but still gives hope, and is a call to arms. I have never gotten so fired up after finishing a book. It clearly lays out the ACLUs malicious beginnings and the potentially devastating future. Most of us, including myself, are completely unaware of their devious plot. This book exposes the ACLU for what they are worth. If you care about the future of our country, religious or not, you need to read this book because it deals with your freedoms.

Well researched with plenty of examples that show how the ACLU is underming our Constitutional Republic. As I like to say, the only thing the ACLU has gotten correct is that their acronym explains who they are and what they do...they don't have A CLU.

You will never look at the ACLU again without revulsion and disgust after reading this book. It reveals what a totally immoral and corrupt organization it is.
