We study the Constitution of the US in school but do we really learn its meaning and basis for creation? Our founding fathers wanted to be free. Free to live their lives as they deemed, free to reap the benefits of their hard work, and free from obligation to and from government and king. They saw that the people of each state should govern themselves independently with mutual respect to be given to the other states to their own governance. We have lost that independence. Today we are control by a central government and quasi royalty of career politicians. These royals maintain their power by offering promises of payment in return for votes. Instilling fear, blame, provoking strife, and pitting groups against one another, are all weapons used against the people. The evolution of the United States democracy is entering its last stage. Most citizens are apathetic and more than the majority are dependent on government for support and employment. The current US people are back were the founders started, subjects of government. Very sad!
I don’t know that I’ve ever read the constitution or the declaration of independence from start to finish before. Now that I have, I feel this should probably be required reading for any committed citizen, especially in an election year. Also, in this slim book are the articles of confederation Which laid out the governance of the United States from the period of the revolution until the constitutional convention. Said articles are pretty darn boring!
Understanding the purpose of Government and the philosophy of the founding fathers, though not perfect, can help understand why we have the government we have and where it goes wrong even when we agree with it.
We all, in the US, should have a copy of the Bible and the constitution, especially these days with so many challenges to our way of life and a do-what Administration.
