The United States Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship: Intermediate Horsemanship - C Level

Rate this book
The C Level is an intermediate level of horsemanship. This C Level manual builds on material covered in The United States Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship: Basics for Beginners/D Level. Whether you are a Pony Clubber who has passed the D Level tests or simply a rider who has mastered the same basics, this manual will enable you to increase your skills and teach you what you must know in order to ride independently and correctly with good position, balance, and use of the aids on the flat, over fences, and in the open. At the intermediate level you are expected to take more responsibility for the care and management of your pony, and you will learn how to do this as well. In addition, you will learn the skills needed for conditioning and preparing your pony and yourself for competitions and special events. From the C Level, you may go on to higher Pony Club ratings such as B, H A, or A Ratings, or specialize in such disciplines as dressage, show jumping, eventing, and showing. Or you may just want to have the pleasure of caring for your horse or pony and participating in your favorite riding activities. Either way, The United States Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship: Intermediate Horsemanship/C Level will give you an excellent basis in horsemanship for the lifelong enjoyment of horses and horse sports.

This is not really a book that you start at one point and then finish reading. It is a reference book for people who want to learn the basics of horses and riding. It is excellent for that purpose. It gives illustrations to help show you what is described.

I consider this a handbook to owning and riding a horse in the English disciplines for any young or new rider. It’s very well-written and easy to understand. As a riding instructor, I recommend all of my students get a copy.

A must read for any equestrian.

I love the USPC Manuals. They are perfect, basic, sequential, riding instruction. Great reviews of the basics. Excellent, perfect instructional manual for serious equestrians seeking to strengthen, challenge and refine their applied riding techniques and theory.

The United State Pony Clubs Manual of Horsemanship for all levels: Beginner "D", Intermediate "C", Advanced "B", "HB" and "A" levels are perfectly sequential, technically accurate, realistically organized expectations of both rider and horse, and filled with mandatory vocabulary for every equestrian. The photos and illustrations are classic, clear, and supportive of the instruction. This series was compiled and developed through the expertise of equestrian savvy parents (and their masterful friends) across three hundred years of British (then USA) riding mastery for their children (and blossoming teens).

A winning combination for every equestrian's book shelf. This is a series you will keep as a lasting reference.

I am going to continue re-reading these books often.

Just like the D-Level book, it is written in an easy to understand language. This book however, goes into much more detail about riding and daily life at the stable.
