Stay Safe in the City Here's the book that won't advise you to flee the city and set up a homestead to avoid potential disasters. With many other survival-planning resources emphasizing that approach, urban dwellers that plan to stay put in the city, no matter the circumstances, have been overlooked. Not only do 58 percent of Americans live in cities, but certain risks are higher in cities than elsewhere. Urban Emergency Survival Plan delivers a common-sense approach to urban survival planning rather than advocating that city survivalists need to figure out a way to grow an acre of food, raise goats, and build an underground bunker. The clearly outlined approach here will help you to reduce the risks inherent in disasters that occur in well-populated areas. Inside you'll find: Discover the skills you'll need to weather any storm, whether you live in an apartment, townhouse, condominium, single-family home or any other urban setting. With planning and practice, you'll gain the confidence to always feel safe in the city.
Jim Cobb has been a prepper since long before that term ever came into use. He's been studying, practicing, and now teaching survival and preparedness for about 30 years. Jim has written several books on the subject, including Prepper's Home Defense, Prepper's Long-Term Survival Guide, and Prepper's Financial Guide. He also regularly contributes to magazines such as American Survival Guide, Survivor's Edge, and OFFGRID.
Lots of great insights but this felt more like a packing list than a step-by-step survival plan. Also, some content seems to only apply to the American context.
. Tóm tắt lại có 2 tình huống chính mà mình thấy hữu ích là sheltering at home và evacuting (ngoài ra trong sách còn sheltering at work và getting home). Thì nhìn chung cần cbi: food, water, sanitation, first aid, shelter, security and defense, bug out bag. . Quyển sách basic cho ai chưa có cbi gì, chưa mường tượng ra phải làm gì trong tình huống khẩn cấp, nhưng mình thấy chưa đủ chi tiết.

Has great information! Some of it is super useful and tips that I have never heard of before, and other parts seems like the author is preparing us for an apocalypse. 😬
If you live or work in an urban area, I highly recommend the book Urban Emergency Survival Plan by Jim Cobb. This is not your ordinary survival book. The author's focus is specifically urban and suburban survival following a crisis event. He does an exceptional job walking you through how to prepare before a disaster as well as what to do during and after. This book will help you cover your bases and give you the information you need to prepare: from storing food and purifying water to home defense and personal protection, from first aid supplies to how and when you need to "get out of Dodge", Jim Cobb has your back! Included in the book's appendix are lists to help you sort through the fluff and get the supplies you need to survive in an urban or suburban environment. If you are interested in ways to help yourself and those you love prepare for disaster, you owe it to yourself to pick up this book!
The book is not a bad read. It's just too shallow on almost every topic. I was expecting a more urban specific read. Maybe you should stick to a better and more complete book such as "Urban Survival Guide" by David Morris.
