A really easy read. I love that it included scriptural references when they applied. And explained when some rituals were based out of Talmud or out of the Bible. I liked that it covered the why, the how, where they originated and then explained the differences in how the celebrations have changed over the years. Its a really great resource to have on your shelf if you are curious about these traditions. Or perhaps are trying to add in Holy days into the upcoming year and want to see what the Bible says about them. Beautiful illustrated and easy to understand.
It’s a handy beginners book. Much of the customs are not entirely Orthodox, but gives a good basic intro to Judaism for those that know nothing about it. The cover and artistry in this book are quite lovely to look at. I would recommend this book as a first read for some one curious about the Jewish holidays.
A concise primer on Jewish holidays and life events. I wish there was a little more information on them, but it covers a good range of factors of the holidays broadly.
