This is good book but in my opinion not really for beginners. I will admit that the author gives good instructions. I had some difficulty with one type of stitch and I had to go to YouTube to actually see it worked in real time for me to understand it. The only project that caught my attention was the knitted hearts and one part of the pattern made absolutely no sense to me. So I had to work the stitches the best I could.
This is a very helpful book for people just learning to knit or those with experience. Lots of easy to follow instructions and many beautiful patterns. I have already finished knitting the ribbed cowl neck scarf and plan on knitting one of the hats next. This book has ramped up my excitement to knit up a storm, which I haven't done for a number of years!
It seems like a solid introduction to knitting, but there are only 2 projects inside that I might make: the sporty pullover and the cap sleeve pullover. While these two projects are cute, they're not enough to make me want to purchase the book.
Only skimmed the book. Might be better as a refresher than for absolute beginner. Instructions appear well done and cover more than some beginner books. Projects are fairly basic but not boring.
This book has a nice assortment of go-to basic patterns, which makes it a book worth purchasing for me. Given my level of cheapness, that means something. Leapman shows the basics, which you can then take and adapt, if you'd like something more complex. It's beautifully done, with dreamy photography with a wonderfully diverse set of models. The directions are clear, and Leapman adds in tips to help you along the way.
A good beginner's knitting book. In fact, I found a couple of tips and tricks in here that will help me resolve some issues I have encountered -- and I've been knitting for several years. The projects are pretty basic, and while they didn't all appeal to me, I made note of 4 or 5 of them for fall/winter projects and possibly some upcoming gifts.
