“A Thugs Only Love” is a very intense series, about a big time thug named Lexis who falls in love with a girl he thought he’d never have a chance with, Chanelle. In this book the two together face obstacles no regular teenagers would face. They say “blood is thicker than water” but in the story the two have issues with family members they thought were loyal. You can think of this as the thug version of Romeo & Juliet, because both families are against this love affair.
I loved the moral of the book because as a couple they were strong and stayed positive even at their weakest moments, they were really each other’s backbones. The characters create a family at the ages sixteen I feel the author could’ve made the characters a little bit older, I mean that’s something I would’ve done to make it seem a little more legit to the situation. I really like the way the author played it out, because even though they were only sixteen their mindset was mature and able to handle the sacrifice of having a child. In the story the boyfriends affiliated with a gang, I didn’t like the way he didn’t change his “hood” mentality when he had his little boy and the girlfriend shouldn’t have accepted it. I understand he’s young but going out with your guys til late at night isn’t respectful to the mother of your child or the child.
At the end of the book , Lexis tells Chanelle “ Chanelle , you’re truly a thugs only love “ stands out to me because people often times stereotype a thug to be heartless but for him to admit his love really changes my opinion. Even most males in general show no love, but just for him to state that shows not everyone’s the same.

I am in progress of reading this book and so far I am In love with it.
I like the fact that the characters are very realistic. It’s based on a current time period which causes me to connect with the characters and give me an insight to how they live. Allowing me to be able to relate to them makes the story ten times better. My books main character is Chenelle and she is a 16 year old girl who has trouble finding love, but she soon finds her heart in a young man named Lexi. Despite the fact that he is in a gang and he is a thug, he does not deprive Chenelle of her love.
If I could, I would change the wardrobe. They dress so 2002 even though they have Jordan’s and Converse their “swag” is out dated. Another is the feelings they describe, they need more emotion. But some do have a lot of emotion like my quote “Lexi is my heart, he’s tough but his heart is in a good place.” (ebook) I picked that quote cause its shows how Chenelle sees Lexi.
