“I let you walk away, Julia. I let you go, but I can still take you back if I want.”

Four months ago I ran away. I left him behind. The man who stalked me, took control of my body, and claimed he loved me.

Now he’s returned. Like dripping razor blades, he has slashed his way back into my life. But everything is different.

He doesn’t want me anymore.

I expected him to come back, to be sorry. I even planned to forgive him. I should have known that he would discard me like everyone else in my life. But I’m going to change that.

3 WTF HAPPENED TO COLE STARS
____________________________________________

About The Story
____________________________________________

Angst me, why don't you?!

Clinging to Rapture, takes place four months after Drowning in Rapture , Julia is working at a gas station and regrets the decision she made. She misses her old life but mostly she misses Cole. She realises that she may have made a mistake.

The chance she's been waiting for comes in the form of Cole, walking into the gas station she works at. Finally she has a chance to come clean to him and voice her feelings. But it seems Cole has moved on with his life. Enter his high school sweetheart "What's her face Elaine" So at this point my reaction was this:

Yeah, I know who she is but what the fuck???

Cole then proceeds to act as if he couldn't care less about Julia, and begins to infuriate me. He does this all while pining for her in his head! I'll be brief but Elaine was everywhere and even when Cole had finally made his mind up about who he should be with, she was still there! Yapping and being disrespectful toward Julia, all while Cole said nothing!!! He kept quiet! And then the one time Julia stands up for herself he decides to cut in!!! At this point I just couldn't, I hated him!

In Drowning in Rapture Cole was this assertive male hero who went after what he wanted, in Clinging to Rapture he was weak and indecisive. Letting his mother and ex shunt him around!

"You're still going to marry her," I said quietly, never breaking his gaze.
"I never said that."
"You said never it was going to change."
"I didn't think I had to say it. I thought what happened between us was clear."

Are you KIDDING me???? What the hell???

I was seriously telling Julia to stop wasting her time in my head! There are times when you just have to let it go! On a more positive note, I really enjoyed the mystery and intrigue aspect of the book and I'd really like to know more about Cole's past. Hopefully he won't be such a dick in book three.

I let you walk away, Julia. I let you go, but I can still take you back if I want.

Well...hell. I devoured this book and yet I'm still left feeling...conflicted. There were parts I loved, parts that shocked me, and then there were parts that I just still don't know how I feel about.

The ending of book 1 left me feeling unsure about Cole and his obsession with Julia. When all the cards were on the table and the truth was out, I was shocked as shit. Can an obsession that deep that leads you to stalk a woman for 2 years in your compulsive desire to have her ever lead to anything real? That was the one question I wanted an answer to in book 2, and you know what? I got it...mostly.
She's going to destroy me. And there is nothing I could do to stop it.

Don't expect this to be anything close to what the first book was like, because you'll be grossly disappointed. I found this to be more story and character driven, and it sure as fuck was grittier. It definitely wasn't as erotic as the first, but that didn't really bother me in the least.

Clinging to Rapture is told in alternating flashbacks of past and present. It takes you back to that day 2 years ago that began an obsession that's only burned hotter with each step that Cole got closer to Julia. The present begins with 4 months after Julia has left Cole after learning the truth behind how and why they met. She's now barely making ends meet by working at a rundown gas station left only with memories that run hot and cold of her past life. The last person she expects to walk into the doors when she's working is Cole...actually scratch that. Let's make that Cole and his spawn of satan fiance.

No really. I mean what in the ever loving fuck? We go from one extreme of Cole being obsessed with Julia...to him being engaged to the bitch that he left the second Julia came on his radar 2 years ago. Seriously? SERIOUSLY?! Oh, did I mention that his men are still following Julia? Yeah.

And as much as Julia knows she should feel otherwise and tries to fight it, her feelings for Cole are a lot stronger than what she ever expected.
Cole made me weak. I seemed to be powerless when it came to him.

Readers that don't enjoy constant flashbacks, may not like this one. Luckily, I wasn't one of them. That actually worked for me. Big time. I needed that explanation and back story that I felt was missing in book 1. I gobbled up every little morsel of Cole's past that Megan D. Martin threw my way. He went from an erotic enigma, to a very real, and a very broken man, with an obviously dark past.

His struggle with his obsession with Julia and trying to let her go was palpable. And he almost does it, until her life is in danger and everything else ceases to be of importance.

Now the suspense part of the book was crazy. It will leave you thinking you know who's behind it, only to have you question it again a chapter later. Is it Julia's psycho ex? Cole even more psycho fiance? Or Cole's beyond psycho mother? I don't fucking know! But I do know that some of the twists that the author throws at you left me in a disturbed state of WTF. (but that's a good thing)

So why not 5 stars? A few things really. I don't fully understand or connect to Cole's reasons for going back to the fiance that he's obviously no longer in love with and is just plain batshit cray. He constantly allowed her to degrade Julia where all I wanted him to do was kick her bitch on wheels ass out of his house. Also, considering his relationship with his mother, I just didn't buy into his reasoning of doing anything for her. But perhaps that's something that will be better explained in the 3rd book.

The cliffhanger here was not as bad as it was in the first book, but certainly still present. While the relationship between Cole and Julia is mostly established again, there's still the death threat that is looming over them both. All I know? I need the 3rd book like fucking YESTERDAY! Gah.

Any respect that I had for Julia (Jewel) in book one I lost in this one.
In Book One she was the queen of stripping, having sex on stage with her best friend Vic for the world to see at ten thousand dollars a show..yea yeah whatever.

In this one, it's been four months since she left Cole after he professed his undying love for her, after she found out he has been "stalking" her over two years.
Me? I wouldn't see that as stalking.. a beautiful man invested two years in having me, that's what I would see but anyhoo.

Now Julia works at some gas station in the worst area of the city when one night in walks Cole! She is so happy to see him, two minutes later in walks his fiancee.. yes you heard me! Elaine is the fiancee. Now in Book 2 we didn't really meet Elaine, but she has been there all along, they dated for over ten years before he broke up with her after seeing Julia for the first time. And now he's getting married to her.

Some bad things happen and Julia's throat gets cut, but no she doesn't die...she survives and stays with Cole and his fiance at her their house until Cole is sure the person is found.

Now this is the part that bothers me.. Julia loves Cole, Cole could care less, and Julia keeps putting herself out there, emberassing herself.. running around him like a dog in heat.. it was PATHETIC... She was this strong person in Book 1 and in this one she is a DOORMAT!
Lost all respect for her!

We got to know so much more of Cole and I looooovvvveeeddd what I saw.
Totally scrumptious and so lickable!!!!

 photo 8014509_zps8a37cabe.gif

I wasn't to happy about seeing Julia so vulnerable this time around but hey sometimes ones pride takes a hit now and then.

We started off right where it let off in Drowning in Rapture
Julia left with NOTHING and at her worst when she comes face to face with Cole..
We get so many questions answered but at the same time get thrown into a loop over and over again.

This addition to the story had more of a suspense theme to it which I devoured..
We got more plot and action, more mystery and emotion.. totally twisted at times
And when Cole and Julia finally let there needs take over it was Fabuloussssssss...

Review
Ms. Martin does it again…she takes us on a thrilling and erotic ride through the life of Julia and Cole.  This time though…she has added suspense, mystery and murder to the mix.  As we get deeper and deeper into the relationship between Julia and Cole the more problems that exist for them.  Someone doesn’t want them together and will go to extremes to keep them apart.

This is so different from the first book – we get to see more into Julia’s psyche and Cole’s POV while he flashbacks to first meeting Julia up till the present.  This time it was nice to see a softer side to Julia and it was easier to connect with her as a person.

I enjoyed finding out how Cole went about stalking Julia in the first book and learning about his past with his psycho mother and fiancé.

But again we end with a cliffhanger…..

Re-Cap
We pick up about 4 months after Julia walks out on Cole after he reveals the truth.  Julia’s life has crumbled around her and the last person she expects to see is Cole – especially with another woman claiming to be his fiancé.

Cole has come to say ‘good-bye’ but then suddenly Julia’s life is threatened, she is almost murdered and Cole is back in her life.  He won’t let any harm come to her and brings her right back into the folds of his life.

Cole and Julia try to fight the feelings that are still so strong between them while trying to stay alive.  Who keeps stalking her and are their threats serious enough for Julia to walk away from Cole again?

When Julia learns who Cole really is, she runs. Four months later she finds herself working the night shift at a gas station and struggling. She never stopped thinking about Cole, or crying over him. So when he walks back into her life with an unexpected revelation that breaks Julia a little more than she was before.

Cole tried to stay away from Julia. Four months ago he let her walk away but that doesn’t mean he stopped watching her. And now that she needs someone to protect her, there’s no way he is going to let her go again.

Book two gives us a constant tug-o-war. Does Cole want Julia? Can she resist him or forgive him? But as the story unfolds and some new twists are introduced, those questions aren’t as important. Part two evolves a bit and focuses a bit more on the plot. All of these characters have secrets, no one seems willing to give them up just yet, but without answers there are lives on the line.

I was a bit surprised by the twist this book took, but can’t say I did not enjoy it. This author has a knack for taking something sexy and erotic and turning it into something a bit darker and out of control. I found myself constantly trying to figure it all out, trying to stay one step ahead of the characters as they make their discoveries.

This hot little read turned into something far more suspenseful with part two that was unexpected, but wholly welcomed.

Julia suffered from "Body betraying syndrome" and "I can save him with my love disorder" here. I was cliché as fuck!😩

And Cole didn't redeem himself. He was such a pathetic ass. His mood swings could give whiplash to the entire Atlantic Ocean!

I became detached from the story at 40 % but still my stupid and curious brain decided to keep reading it. I am so damn disappointed....this story had so much potential.

I am not continuing with the third book but I have a theory about how this story is gonna end....which I'll be mentioning down below. If anyone ever tries this trilogy and makes it to the end, they can let me know if I am right or wrong lol.

⚠️🚨 You can turn away now if you don't want my theory🚨⚠️

Okay, so now that the required warnings are given......I think the killer will turn out to be Victor's boyfriend Chris. His conversation with Julia after the throat cutting incident was really odd ...his wording was malicious somehow.
He had a good motive to want Julia dead too since it was mentioned that Victor was in love with her. If Cole could observe that, surely Chris could too.

I would have been proud of myself for figuring it all out....but I don't know whether I am right or wrong so there's that😂

Also, About Cole's past.....first of all, it really pissed me off that his past would be discussed in the last book. We could have really used his mysterious tragedy to sympathize with him. But since it wasn't mentioned, he came across as nothing more than a pathetic bitch and an asshole. I wanted to slip into my fictional "badass villain catsuit" and then gut him and take out his organs one by one so that he died slowly and in pain. Gah, he made me violent. 🔪🔪😑

Anyway, I digress. Cole's past ......hmm, I think his brother Garrett raped their sister, or manipulated her into having sex with him. Cole must have seen this and killed Garrett. Which in turn, caused the sister to kill herself (whether it was from shame, guilt , love or some other emotion, idk)

So that's my theory. I am outta here now.

Why I read the second book? Gosh, I have no idea. I guess I love to torture myself.

I thought the guy would redeem himself in the sequel but I actually started hating him more. He treats other women, who aren't our 'lovely' stripper main character like shit. He's possessive and stalkerish. But that's okay cause now he's showing his softer side with hovering over the girl all the time, buying her a new iPhone and telling her how much he want's her to come for him. Isn't that what love's suppose to be like?

Cole's back and Julia's more than ready to have him back in her life. Only there's one problem: He's engaged. Needless to say, she was crushed and determined to forget him. That's not all. Someone with a vendetta against Julia ordered her to be killed. After a failed murder attempt, Cole bulldozed into Julia's life to get her safe. Whatever.

I liked this better than the first book / novella. In this one, we are shown Cole's POV from 2 years ago when he first saw Julia at Rapture in between chapters. Knowing his motivation / being in his head, I'm not sure if Cole really is in love with Julia or if he's simply obsessed with the idea of her. I think Cole simply likes the idea of her as he tends to put her on a pedestal.

This book ends with a cliffhanger. Kind of. Moving on to the third!

What a great sequel! Cole, I shake my head at you repeatedly due to your indecisiveness and bystander tendencies to do nothing when that b*#h of a fiancee was attacking Julia. And then you had the nerve the step in and cut Julia off when she tried to stand up for herself?! Gah. I just don't understand why you would have gone back to that greedy, gold digger when you clearly LOVE Julia and stalked her for two freakin' years!! I HATED, HATED Elaine!!

NOT TO MENTION, your dysfunctional relationship with your MOTHER!! What the hell, man?!

Dude, you have some SERIOUS ISSUES to address in bk3, but I'm glad when it came to your relationship with Julia at the end, you got your head back on right. So good job!

*End of ranting at Cole* ~wink wink~

The fact that I got to read this before anyone kind of fills me with a certain zeal and annoying naner-naner type of thing. But seriously, I beta-read this book and it was AMAZING at the beta stage, which means it's going to be killer when it's published. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Megan's writing style and her sex scenes are H-A-W-T. Like, seriously so hot, I need to keep a fan nearby ;)

And now for some teasers:

Can I murder the characters, specially Cole? They are getting on my nerves and irritating me. Ugh so much.
The first part went perfectly. I enjoyed. I really don't know why this part made me hesitant.
Julia is so conflicted and Cole is not helping. He is hot and then cold.
Told you, I hated Vic. He is giving me some serious wrong vibes -or I am reacting-.
Can we kill Elaine and Cole's mother, then hide their bodies? They are too much, in a bad way.
Still, the mystery behind Cole is keeping me on edge.
Part 3 ---- coming.

I received this book from the author for an honest opinion.

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! OMG DO I LOVE COLE EVEN MORE THEN BEFORE......Ok I got that off my chest and now on to the nitty gritty of the novel......Now this book is a part two BUT could be read as a stand alone. HOWEVER, please do yourself a favor and read book 1. You will NOT be dissappointed by Cole AKA The Ripper at allll.......but your panties may explode due to his hotness!!

So this book picks up with Cole strutting and smirking his way into the gas station to see Julia. she is FINALLY ready to be with him when...wait...what....who.....ANOTHER WOMAN strolls in and is GASP ENGAGED to Cole. Say it aint so.....Broken, oh so broken I became!! Well Julia is hurt and turns awaY. She will not admit her feelings to this man who had broken her soul and crushed her spirit. So she goes clubbing and when she starts to chat up a hottie who will be "Mr. Right Now", Cole comes and claims her . YAY right!!! Nope not a YAY. He is through with her and done stalking her. Toooo bad though because as soon as this happens allll kinds of bad things happen to Julia. She is almost murdered, has alot of possible stalkers and loses a friend while fighting her attraction to Cole.

Cole is sooo lost to Julia but he can't be with her. She is a stripper and a slut but mostly she is a whore!!! But it doesnt matter. The heart wants what the heart wants!!! Cole will do everything he can to protect his Julia from whoever is trying to hurt her. When the two finally get to admitting their feelings I was so happy because Julia was about to get a kick in the ovaries from me. I was even messaging Megan saying "this better not be a cliffy". The replies from her were not very nice...LOL i will warn you this is a cliffy BUT trust me you will love it and not wanna kill Megan!!!

There is a lot of stuff happening in the book. We are seeing present day with Cole and Julia or flashing back to when Cole was pbsessed and stalking Julia. Through these flashbacks we learn about Coles broken childhood and possible threats to Julia and His relationship.

My Favorite Line:
"i saw your scar and I wanted you to see mine." SIGH!!!!

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Another home run for Megan D. Martin! I liked this book just as much as the first one, and I am very much looking forward to the third book. I can't wait to see how it all ends! As with the first, I read this one in half a day. That is really saying something considering my brain has been on a book hiatus. I started this and basically didn't put it down until I was finished!

The book starts when the last one literally left off. Julia is working in a gas station, making minimum wage, and living in a crappy apartment. In walks Cole who she hasn't seen in 6 months. She realizes that she misses him but Cole is now engaged to his ex-girlfriend. I really don't want to give too much of the story away because I think you need to just sit down and read this yourself.

There are two differences to this book. You see a few flashbacks from Cole's POV that weren't in the first. Also, there is a threat to Julia's life that is new. Of course you have to read the last book to find out who the villain is. :-)

Overall great book. I'm becoming a huge fan of Megan D. Martin, and I can't wait to read more!

*POV is my own personal rating for what I prefer to read.
5 stars = Multiple POV, 3rd person
4 stars = One POV, 3rd or 1st person
3 stars = Multiple POV, 1st person
2 stars = Multiple POV, mix of 1st & 3rd person

Clinging to Rapture is the 2nd book in Megan D. Martin's Rapture series and was definitely worth the wait!

The book pickups right where Drowning in Rapture ends. After their fight in the office, Julia wants nothing to do with Cole anymore or so she tells herself. Well, all bets are off when just months later he walks into her new workplace. All those feelings she had thought she buried comes boiling to the surface with just one glance at him. She should hate him and part of her does but she can't bring herself to stay hating him. During their months apart, It turns out that a lot has changed for Cole and Julia is not to happy about it. It seems Cole is finally ready to say goodbye for good but when something horrible happens will Cole be able to handle living on the sidelines and possibly losing Julia forever.

Oh my, where do I begin with this book. I absolutely loved everything about it. I was immersed from beginning to end. I really like how we got to see the past through Cole's eyes. From the first book, we know when Cole first saw Julia and how he purchased her building, etc. To live it through Cole's perspective, lets you experience and feel just how much he felt he needed to have Julia after just one glance.

Just like the first book, Cole and I had a love-hate relationship. One minute I was screaming at him and the next I was completely smitten.

I can't wait to find out what else Megan has in store for these amazing characters.

Things head in very different directions in the second installment of the Rapture Trilogy. Rapture the club is the last thing on anyone's mind in this book as Cole, Julia and several new characters put their jobs and personal lives aside in order to try to solve mysteries and stay alive. The erotic live sex shows are long gone and the gas station job doesn't last long either. Cole is still rolling in the billions even though we don't see him doing anything business related, spending all of his time trying to protect or screw Julia. Yes, the sizzle is still strong between Cole and Julia regardless of the numerous obstacles standing between them.

If I weren't such a Megan Martin fan, I probably would not continue reading after this one because of the incredibly frustrating ending! Cliffhangers are an unnecessary evil we readers learn to expect and accept but the way Rapture #2 ended was CRUEL!!! I (obviously) was frustrated by the ending because IMO, Cole would not have left things that way; it was too dangerous! Unfortunately, the ending wasn't the only part of this book that seemed highly unlikely or unrealistic. The majority of Rapture #2 has that charismatic, engrossing Megan Martin style (which is why I am going to continue on to read the next book) but I was disappointed by some of the things the characters did and did not do; things I felt detracted from the story's believability. I am definitely going to start book #3 right away though – I'm eager to find out who the bad guy (or girl) really is!

OH. MY. GOD!!!
I was just completely blown away with this book. I loved Drowning in Rapture so I knew I was going to love this. It was erotic (can't go wrong there) and it dealt with so much more. I loved the mystery, the suspense and the violence. Holy shit, I did not see that happening but as I read it, my twisted mind ate it up.

Clinging to Rapture is told in both Julia and Cole's POV, only Cole's is flashbacks to the time when he was a mega stalker and a douchebag. I liked Cole in the first book and reading this one, I liked him even more. Sure he was an ass in the beginning but you get to see a softer side of him now. He really cares about Julia but he doesn't feel like she deserves him.

I loved the other characters, even the psycho mother and ex-fiancé because you wouldn't expect less from the people in Cole's lives. I had my doubts about Mandi but they went away when I saw how awesome of a friend she was later on. I wish Vic and Chris had more of an appearance though.

This book ends in a cliffhanger so we're left not knowing who wants to hurt Julia and keep her away from Cole. So obviously I can't wait for the third book to come out!! I NEED it now!

Highly recommended!

Second installment!

Lets just say the book keeps getting better and better.
The writing is still very descriptive and captivating.
The storyline took me out for a spin on a roller coaster.
Attempted murder, hate and disgust, jealousy! angst!
I love it all!

My favourite and MOST upsetting chapter was 26, the last chapter!
Yuh girl real reading enjoying Cole's confession of love towards Julia and the method in which he does it *clears throat* And then seeing Julia FINALLY admitting that she's in love with him! and then he leaves her handcuffed to the bed! I eagerly turned the page (well swipped my finger) looking forward to what happens next and was highly disappointed to learn I had to wait till the final book
UGH Ms Martin you are playing with my emotions! please stop!

Sincerely,
Eagerly awaiting the final installment!

I was really intrigued with this series when I read the first book and although this one was awesome in its own way, I am so frustrated that we are still left hanging at the end!
Sexy, dangerous, mysterious, violent and despicable all describe how this book is written...I was so angry at both Cole and Julia's behavior at times and wanted to punch a few "ladies" at others.
Although we are given a lot of background and flashbacks to give more insight to their relationships, you still have to read another book to find out "whodunit" and how it will all play out in the end.
A good combination of suspense and romance.

**** 4 **** "a bloody good time to be had by all" stars

¿Qué me pareció?

Received advanced copy for honest review.
Clinging to Rapture encompasses all the ingredients for a juicy tale! Characters that evoke emotions through the pages. Love/Hate relationship that pulls you along with the highs and lows and a descriptive writing style that made the story come alive. Some might find the ending unsatisfying but lets be honest we're just greedy for more more more! So even though I was left with unanswered questions I turned the last page with a smile on my face and an itch for the conclusion.

I love the first one. This one went wrong for me for a few reasons. Julia was cool in the first one..I have no clue where she went. A lot more inner dialogue in this one or maybe I just realized it more because of all the dumb shit she was thinking. Finally an intense scene came, and in between each of Julia and Cole's dialogue there was like a paragragh of inner dialogue, which just ruined the build up!

Other then some of peeves going on, giving it 3 stars. I am going to be reading the third.

This is my opinion. Read it for yourself. Happy reading.

Really enjoying this story. This book us darker and we learn more back ground history. I also like that we hear the past 2 years leading up till the present told from Coles point of view, I've grown to like him a lot. 4 stars again and now onto book 3!
