How do you come back from the biggest screw-up of your life? That's the question for Lawton Rastor, the billionaire bad boy from Detroit, after he lets the girl of his dreams not just slip through his fingers, but run away, fast – and with good reason. How do you resist a guy who's irresistible? That's the question for Chloe Malinski, the world's most overqualified waitress, after a nightmarish night leaves her vowing to avoid her fantasy guy for good – no matter how hard he works to win her back.
Chloe finds Lawton impossible to resist. Lawton finds Chloe impossible to forget. But finding that place to belong isn't easy when neither one knows where the other truly comes from.
A full-length novel of 82,000 words, Rebelonging concludes the two-part Belonging series that began with Unbelonging. This new adult contemporary romance features mature content, sexual situations, and adult language. It's not advised for under-age readers.
Starting the audiobook, I went from mildly interested to dump this book. What was that?? I have so so feeling toward the Unbelonging. And now I am left disappointed.
I guess what I do not like is Chloe acting like drama queen. I can not help myself finding similarity between Chloe and Bianca (the villain).
I need this book like yesterday! No.. more like last month! Please oh please say its coming very very soon!!
FINALLY!!! :D I freaking loved it! I have been in the absolute worst book funk ever and when I saw that this had been released and escaped my notice for almost a month, I jumped on it. I couldn't put it down! I loved how Chloe and Lawton worked things out but still had issues to overcome. And I also liked how Chloe didn't just give in and made him work to be forgiven. There was lots to laugh about in this one too and I loved that. I even liked how the epilogue tidied up any loose ends that may have been hanging around. I also can't wait for Bishop's book now! I've liked him the whole time even though he is a douche canoe ;)
Maybe it's a case of "it's not you, it's me", but hell, I can't remember the last time I was so pissed when reading a book.
I am writing a review for just second book, but it's for both of them.
Ok.
When it came to Chloe, our heroine, most of the time I was feeling like this:
She was incredibly annoying, stupid, whiney and had no backbone. She had absolutely no pride (according to her, "she couldn't afford to have pride") and was complete whimp. She was a giant liar and a poser and there was absolutely no growth of her character throughout the book whatsoever.
I really didn't understand what Lawton saw in her, why was she so irresistible to him.
Lawton was ok I guess, but must have some kind of mental problem since he fell for Chloe so deeply (I know I sound kinda bitchy, but just....grrr..).
The plot was week and heavily constructed - some of the situations were just:
WTF? Some scenes were just so heavily scripted, it was way OTT and totally unbelievable (
I am a visual creature. I like to imagine things like they are written - but I couldn't do that with Chloe (as much as she was annoying, she had to at least be pretty - but how should I know?), but we know that Lawton was gorgeous with perfect ripped body and tattoos and dark hair, but that's it. Really??? That's all we got?
I probably should have waited with writing the review, but I know I wouldn't bring myself to do it later, because I just want to throw this dissapointment behind me ASAP.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
As much as I enjoyed the first book ( with its faults and all) I didn't have the same feeling about this second one.
200 pages into the ebook version and I realized that too much talking was going on and nothing was really happening. When I say too much talking, I mean like wishing they would shut up for just a minute. At that point I would have been glad to read a description of a coffee-machine, a cat or whatever...
There were parts I really liked, for example the Thanksgiving dinner from hell...But at the same time everything felt rushed.
Wow I didn't think two people could break up and make up so much. With so many secrets between the two of them they could never be happy. Lawson and Chloe have a major roller coaster in this book. However there is no question he loves her and has her back through it all. Bishop is a dark and difficult man but he tries harder in this book to win Chloe over. This is book 2 of a series and is worth the money and time to read!! Now must wait till July to get Bishops story can't wait!
FIVE KICK ASS STARS! What can I say except "I'm officially a Stark fan.I just loved Chloe and Lawton's story. It was so easy to get lost in the pages with Chloe's thoughts that were heartfelt, funny, sometimes paranoid but always brutally honest and she had me laughing more than a few times.Im pretty sure her attitude was inherited from her funny as shit Grandmother. Lawton was a regular knight in tattooed armor, total swoon worthy. Im hoping to hear more of their story in the next book about Lawton's smokin hot brother. Can't wait!
This book is just after Unbelonging(which I loved) but I was actually hoping for more out of this story. I thought that Rebelonging was way to predictable and kinda dragged on and on at certain scenes that didn't quite draw me in. Overall, I liked the series as a whole.
As with the first book, it did get a little annoying to read this with the repetitive inner dialogue. Twice I almost skimmed through the ending. While Chloe can be sarcastic and humorous, I also felt like she was somewhat ridiculous. Most of her problems really were brought on by herself. The thing with the packers? Totally saw it coming a mile away. Maybe not exactly that, but it didn't take a genius to figure out they weren't who they said they were. And as for Lawton assuming she was a hooker as she put it, well, I felt she was overreacted much the same way a thirteen year old girl would. I wouldn't take it kindly Id a guy assumed that about it, don't get me wrong. But from his perspective, it was also completely understandable that he drew that conclusion. I felt the author put in way too much energy to that plot line. I mean come on. This guy loves you, offers to be your gosh darned saving grace because he thinks you have to sell yourself,(shoes no judgement which proves he is a better man than most, even if his assumptions were wrong) and instead of taking a minute to think about it and see it from his standing, she flips out like he called her a ho bag or something. Honestly. I would have burst into laughter because really. It's funny. And I can see how he would think it. So for much of this story, I just thought Chloe was an immature stubborn byatch. And as far as her being strong or whatever. The shiiii she takes off so many people makes her a doormat in my eyes. I would never let anyone treat my brother the way she did. In fact I recall on occasion standing up to a step mom and my father. That show of spinelessness is something I can't fathom. I mean I think Loretta is a psycho. Or needs to be medicated heavily.
And as far the writing. It was good. The writer had a way of making me life in spite of it. I mean Id be growing bored with the uneventful plot and then suddenly bam, the gramma would say something to make me keep trudging on. All in all, I'm just glad the books over. It wasn't a horrible story but neither was it anything special. I still don't understand what the hell Lawton does. Maybe it'll be explained in bishops story but sadly, I won't be reading it. Lawton wasn't much of a heartthrob for me. Oh he was hot and all and I enjoyed things about him but I don't know. I just didn't feel he was all that great. I skipped through the second scenes which is rare but I couldn't really get into them or the characters. I've never been to hamtrack or wherever Chloe was supposedly from but from what they made it seem to be, she didn't have any street smarts.
I've noticed a lot of stories lately about these kids from the wrong side of the tracks and had it rough growing up. The thing is however. For someone who actually did live in the crappy side of town(and I mean the parts you don't want to walk through at night or hell, not anytime ) it's painfully obvious when an author hadn't possibly lived it. Characters are usually unbelievable. I mean I'm off topic here, but so many times I read about these chicks who wouldn't have lived one day in our shoes and I'm just sitting there laughing because , well. It's just too ridiculous to take seriously. Which makes the story less than what it could be.
Back on topic. The story isn't bad it isn't great, I wouldn't pay the three bucks again that's for sure. Id read it for free if I was bored.
Having read the first book "Unbelonging" which was quite a good read I was pleased to read the concluding part to this story. Which picks up right where book one left off.
Once again Chloe is a walking disaster, she seems to get into trouble every time she leaves home. I have to say right up front I don't get why she didn't tell Lawson the truth about herself it was silly. Especially as there was plenty happening elsewhere with the plot, her lying was an irritant. But having said that this was an extremely entertaining read. There are genuine moments of humour. There are also a diverse mix of other characters that ably flesh out the story, from Loretta, Chloe's hateful stepmother to Bishop, Lawson's brother. The latter is a bit of a mystery. But as he's to get his own story soon I'm sure all will be revealed. Once again Chloe and Lawson's relationship has it's ups and downs, as Chloe lands in one scrape after another. Overall this was. Very enjoyable read.
After reading Unbelonging by Sabrina Stark I was left with what felt like a hole waiting for the sequel after that somewhat devastating cliffhanger ending. And at last I got my hands on it! Chloe is at a crossroads. Does she forgive Lawson for his actions or cut her ties and literally make a run for it? There were so many twists and turns thrown in this one. Seems like every time things would work between them something new would happen or they had a misunderstanding of gigantic proportions. The more I read the more I found myself cheering for Lawson to finally get a happy ending in his life. The things he did for Chloe made me want it even more. Sabrina Stark did an amazing job of sucking me in to the storyline. I wanted more. Hell, I still want more!
I'm glad I didn't DNF this book. It was a close thing since at 60% she was STILL holding out on telling him everything. It was a decent read and a fair effort for a new author. There was a lot of promise. I felt like all of the conflict was so contrived since it really rests on the fact that she's not telling him everything... namely that she's house sitting for someone and the reasoning behind holding that back seems so flimsy that I had a hard time with it. I enjoyed how he handled her step-monster though and I appreciated the way everything was resolved.
This book both equally pissed me off and bored me to death. For two whole books, the storyline was too drawn out and because of this there were ridiculous interactions with side characters that brought little to the book, or just brought more questions. Too many petty misunderstands that could have easily been dealt with with an actual conversation between the two MCs instead of silent dog walks. And that super secret side job? Really?
I have been looking for the words all day to describe this book. I have to say this book was wonderful. It took me in and I could not put the book down. Ms. Stark is a wonderful author. I have been telling my friend about her another book for months. I waited for this book and was not disappointed one bit. Her next book is coming in July. I will be sitting and waiting for it to come out.
Their love story continues after the cuffs scenario or Lawton's paranoia. Still, the dog, Chucky played a major role in their story. But Lawton did not seem to learn from his mistake and did it again. OOoops, I did it again Blame his jealousy this time. A crucial part of the past was revealed. This is one of the reasons why Lawton was so keen to her. Happy ending.
Loved it lawson is so sweet. I even have started to like bishop abit. Chloe still has a lot of drama but he is there like a rock tryin to sort it the book starts like u never put the first down flows straight on brilliant
What an ending to a wonderful story. I loved Lawton and Chloe. Sometimes I wanted to shake Chloe and yell for her to just tell Lawton the truth. I would also have liked to read rubbing in Chloe's good fortune in the faces of her so called family and Keith. I also wanted Josh and grandma to go and live with Chloe and Lawton (I want to be like grandma she's fantastic) Also, please consider writing a novella about their wedding reflecting their bliss and the faces of Loretta and Lauren Jane!!! What a treat. I can't wait until July to read about Bishop. Will you include at least a little about Lawton and Chloe?? Maybe a baby in their future? Thank you Sabrina, I will be waiting on all of your future books.
I absolutely love this book. It took awhile because Chloe kept getting on my nerve. All the secrets for what there was nothing to them. No apparent reason to lie or lie by omission. She was definitely a walking disaster. Lawson seem to be s cool guy and would have accepted anything she told him about her life. He love her from the first time he saw her five years earlier. Anyway don't want to say too much. But her lying was so irritating.
Her father and step mother from hell was hilarious, especially when Lawson joined them for dinner. When people break up as much as Lawson and Chloe, I'm surprised the made it together. There were great characters in this book from her brother Josh to Lawson's brother Bishop. I can't wait to read his story. Overall this was an enjoyable read.
Sad I wasted my time. Two books could have been one well written one had the author not decided so. Blatant cut and paste from the first book. Author also finds reality TV funny (grown women fighting and throwing food like monkeys) instead of disturbing and weaves elements of it into this and the previous book. Don't waste your time. I would have to get Bishop's book for free in order to care about where he lands, but seriously a tarot card reader?
Fantastic end to Lawton and Chloe's story. Karma made herself known to those who deserved it although Brittney was let off too easy as was Squid ass. I enjoyed reading more of their story and I am very happy with the ending. No loose ends other than the tid bits of information dropped to get you interested in Bishops story.
This was just awful. And I really tried to like it. There was no story here. There were lots of pieces that hinted at what could have been a great storyline but nothing evolved. Or a piece was played out so quickly with just a list of "here's what happened". The character's relationship was rushed and Chloe was annoying with quick changing mind.
AHHHH! Just finished the first book. Need the second book now! I loved Sabrina Stark's style of writing. I loved the characters, I loved that I laughed, the laughing was totally unexpected. Unbelonging was a great book!!! Now on with Rebelonging!
I loved the first book and this one was just as good. I loved the conflict and heated passion these two have for each other, and the ways they ways complicate but compliment one another. Thank you for a great follow-up!
Ehhhh...everything seemed too rushed and I didn't feel that love connection. It kind of just happened. But I can at least say, the characters did get under my skin and I will be reading Illegal Fortunes to see what happens to Bishop :-)
