When Pan Thyr is arrested for a crime he didn’t commit, he's determined to take down the man responsible for his torture. But being on the run makes it hard to prove his innocence. He is not only fighting to clear his name, but prove to Igorian that they are meant to be together.
Igorian refuses to give in to his desires where Pan is concerned. Although the man is a walking wet dream, Igorian had been taught that vampires don’t mate outside their race. It was a lesson drilled into him from rebirth.
When wanted posters go up and the two must run for their lives, Igorian learns that fighting against the attraction he feels for Pan is futile. Can the two clear their names and the misconceptions taught to Igorian, or will the Ministry of Paranormal Affairs doom them both to a death sentence before Igorian finds out what it means to purr for a panther shifter?
Lynn Hagen loves writing about the somewhat flawed, but lovable. She also loves a hero who can see past all the rough edges to find the shining diamond of a beautiful heart.
You can find her on any given day curled up with her laptop and a cup of hot java, letting the next set of characters tell their story.
I like humor with my paranormal fix and this series is a like breath of air. I love the chemistry between Iggy and pan. I found myself laughing so much when Cass came into the play " I have skittles in my pocket would you like taste the rainbow", I got a lot of stares with that one from the spontanious combustion of laughter. The seamless way the characters from the previous played a part in the story made it that much more interesting; I hope the next installments continue like that. I am putting in my plea for Feen Ecks I think he deserves some happiness from his mundane life. Also, wondering if we are going to read Vlad's reaction to Bela's choice of green?
While I am extremely thrilled with this story, I sincerely hope that both bela and Iggy will be in other stories in this series. Quite frankly, these two crack me the hell up.
This was just so funny and a great follow on from the first book in the series.
This story see Igorian the vampire on the run from the law with Pan Thyr the panther shifter he is attracted to. Pan is being set up so that some one can get their hands on a secret file that Pan has. When Pan is falsely arrested Igorian breaks him out of jail and so the adventure begins.
I liked the way this story continues from book one in a way that is quite seamless but with a shift in focus. We still get to see Vlad and Bela as they lend the fugitives a helping hand but the story is very much about Igorian and Pan.
As the two of them duck and dive, Igorian has to come to terms with his feelings for Pan and the fact that his emerging relationship goes against vampire cultural expectations.
This was such an amusing story and it is great to be able to see how the secondary characters also have a part to play in the adventures. We continue to learn about Phanta City and the different characters that live there as well as the politics and power play. The best part is the humour.
This story takes up where Beautiful Bela left off. We have Iggy in lust with Pan who is in lust with Iggy. They have amazing sex but Iggy has always believed that vampire's do not mate outside their species, something that needs to change. Iggy and Pan are literally running for their lives and even a drag queen is involved with Iggy wearing a dress and high heels. THAT part I will leave up to you to discover. I don't want to give everything away. Just know this is a great story, well worth the time and money so if you have read Beautiful Bela or not get this book, but it will make more sense if you read that one first and make it that much more enjoyable. So go ahead...buy this and enjoy...you will NOT be disappointed.
I like Igorian. Not quite as much as I like Bela (I know, I know, its the whole not talking correctly thing which if you really think about it totally doesn't make any sense. But I like it anyhow. So there.) Enjoyable, though on the whole not quite as much as the first book...but, y'know, Bela...
It’s a little embarrassing in the first chapter when the exact same, very specific sentence is repeated after only a page or two. Really. Must have been some cut & paste accident. FYI, it fits better the second time but then the first has a gap.
How can a voice be simultaneously “dispassionate” and “somewhat argumentative”?
A little confused about Igorian referring to Pan as his mate in their first scene when he clearly resists any such revelation.
And how come Pan complains about Igorian’s tight jeans – when Iggy dressed in a suit for the ?
Editing missed a few things as well.
All in all this provides a good continuation of the series. The protagonists and pacing feel completely different from book one, but the recurring characters remain true to themselves. I suppose I could do with fewer sex scenes, but they worked with the people involved, so it’s okay. Strangely cute, despite the things I pointed out above.
3.5 Pan and Igorian's interactions were hilariously funny. Igorian's snark was classic, whether he was dressed in drag, as a gansta' or as a hillbilly. So much so, that he almost overshadowed Pan's personality. Of course the shifter had some great comebacks. Their last scene together was smoking hot.
A disappointment: The story rambled. For someone of Pan's suggested abilities, their run from the law was less than epic. He sort of fumbled through it, getting help from others. It ruined his stealthy reputation. The resolution was anticlimactic.
I really enjoyed this second book of the, Phanta City, series. The characters are well defined as much as they are hysterical at times. Bela and Iggy are adorable and I'm happy that they had become good friends. Iggy was fighting his feelings for Pan Thyr (Panther shifter) because he was taught that species just don't mix with each other. The two of them go through a lot in this story, and Iggy steps up to the plate for Pan and I loved his fire. There was mystery, intrigue, and passion in this very exciting fantasy. Lots of fun. :)
These days, I love to make reviews about books as a series rather than go over them one at a time. Not because it can be tedious, no, simply because I am such a curious individual and get frustrated when I cannot get the fix immediately once I find I like the first installment. One of the series recommendations to me by my friend Fadia is Phanta City, written by two lovable ladies Stormy Glenn and Lynn Hagen whom I have been reading since day one of my addiction to the MM genre.
In Phanta City, we have a dystopic world where Earth is now predominantly populated and rules by the paranormals rather than the humans. This happens after the veil was lifted and a war of supremacy resulted to decades war, millions of deaths, and the paranormals winning. This is just one of the cities on this dystopic Earth world and we see lots of familiar things as well as unfamiliar things.
In Beautiful Bela we have coven leader, the powerful Count Vladimir Dracul, falling for human Bela. Now mind you, this is the usual vampire-loves-human-mate plot we are all familiar with. Thing is, what made me look twice at this recommendation was actually the names of the two main characters involved! Vladimir Dracul a.k.a. Dracula falls in love with Bela (think: Bela Lugosi playing Dracula and you'll know why I am giggling). Now, this Bela, he is such an innocent but so fierce. Talk about wrapping an all powerful 700 year old vampire between his cute little pinky and we see this vamp just skipping through the tulips to please his Bela. Of course, there has to be some bit of drama and angst but thankfully, THANK YOU!!!! dear authors, none of these were overdone! Instead of the crying and whinging frustrations, I ended up giggling my way through.
As for Purr For Me, well, this is the immediate chapter that opens during Vlad and Bela's mating. So we have Igorian falling for Pan Thyr, a panther shifter. Pan Thyr as a name is not so ridiculous, but when I read the description of Igorian, I just about snorted. Think Igor the hunchbacked assistant or butler of the original count and you'll know why I laughed so hard. Add on the fact when his full name was revealed and I just lost it. Well, this guy is as flighty as can be, really a ridiculous individual but oh, so lovable. I actually loved him more than I did Bela, but that is a different story. Thing is, this guy, he just surprised the heck out of me when he went out and did his vampy thingy to rescue his lover-mate and defend him to the fullest of all of his abilities!
So here I am, (im)patiently waiting for that next chapter, erm installment, where Cass A. Nova is involved. Okay, so his name is also another play on names but he is probably the most adorable character I ever encountered in a long while! Especially when it came to his Skittles. Yes, they have Skittles in Phanta City and Cass is just a rainbow character I know I will love.
Looking forward to this series. And as Fadia mentioned, yes, this is a real keeper. Something that is light, humorous and just plain entertaining!
I didn't like this one nearly as much as the first one, Beautiful Béla.
There were a few reasons: - Suddenly, Bela is like a carbon copy of Keata from Keata's Promise. I get that he has trouble with speaking, but he must've been exposed to speaking enough (and he is smart enough) that he would be picking up nuances and not speaking in third person all the time by now. In the first book, we get to hear his thoughts, so we know he is intelligent and observant. I just didn't buy the way he was speaking at this point. Again, it felt like a copy of Keata. - I didn't really like all the chasing and running in this one. I was left scratching my head about why Pan didn't just - I felt like there were too many secondary characters introduced in this one. I get that the series is building, but I feel like we met like 10 other people who are going to come back later. It was a bit much. Also, why do all these people owe Vlad favors? Jeez! - The cross-dressing felt out-of-place to me.
A LOT of characters were set up for the rest of the series in this one. I am on the fence about continuing. I think I will try one more, but if it is like this one, I think I'll stop.
Purr for Me by authors Stormy Glenn and Lynn Hagen is the second book in the Phanta City series. I love the play on words that this series has. Pan is a panther shifter; he is tough and very alpha. Igorian is a stuffy assistant to the vampire coven leader. Igorian believes he can only mate a vampire, so when his mate turns out to be a panther he tried to shove Pan away. Pan isn’t easily ignored. He is seductive and charming and knows how to push all of Igorians buttons. Both Ms. Glenn and Ms. Hagen have done a great job of showing me a new world of paranormals. In this book we get more into the politics of it all, and that added another dimension to this series that I completely enjoyed reading. Purr for Me has the best blend of romance, erotica, and humor that kept me turning the pages. I look forward to the next one in this world that falls in love, and that mate that will bring him to his knees.
My review is in spoiler tags because it hasn't been edited yet. It probable has too much negative stuff as that's what I tend to think to write down. If I'm enjoying myself, I don't want to stop reading!
3.5 I really liked Igorian and Pan. But didn't care for the ending with Locke. With Pan saying he did to protect Phanta City. (say what??) To me that seem to match up with the beginning of story with him. And I was hoping to see more of Feen (maybe his story) but he was taken away by the CROWS. and according to before (unless that changes also) if they get a hold of you, you are never seen again. So far me the handling of Feen and the not so handling of Locke brought the story down for me.
