Eric Dupree has travelled the world, seeing and doing it all as a Navy Seal. Now as part owner at Rossi Security, Inc., he jumps at the opportunity to relocate to L.A. and become managing partner for the new Decadence Club opening there as well. Being Master Dom at Decadence LA is right up his alley. The Club is successful and Rossi is growing by leaps and bounds. He should be thrilled, but something is missing. As he approaches middle age, he finds that he needs more than his bachelor lifestyle can give him. In walks Valerie Thornton, widow, mother and BDSM innocent. What has brought her to his club of all places, and why can't he get her out of his mind?
Valerie is suffering from an empty-nest. No longer can she distract herself with her children and volunteer activities. She has long suppressed her desire for a strong man, who can nurture those desires and bring the submissive inside her to life. When a mysterious invitation to a new BDSM club arrives in her mailbox, she sees it as a fateful intervention. Marshaling her nerve and cramming herself into a little leather skirt are no small deeds. Walking into the most exclusive club in L.A., Valerie is overwhelmed by the testosterone filled atmosphere, each man she see seems to be more handsome and sexier than the next. Then she meets Eric, the owner manager, who takes her breath away. He seems perfect and she knows he could bring her secret fantasies to life. She's ready to throw herself at his feet, but refrains. How could he possibly be interested in a forty-year-old widow and BDSM novice like herself?

Master My Love is the first book in the Decadence L.A. series. Val has mysteriously received an invitation to open sub night at Decadence LA, the most exclusive BDSM club around. Never experiencing this lifestyle before, but always wanting to, she meets the Master Dom on her first night. While she feels things she’s never felt before for Master Eric, Val feels like she’s in way over her head, but Eric convinces her to stay, to join a beginner’s course, and see where their attraction takes them. With a whole new world open to Val, will she reach for everything she desires with an open heart, or will her fears and insecurities hold her back?
Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved this book! I got completely sucked into this world that Ms. Taylor created, between the club, the relationship, and the hurdles that both Val and Eric needed to conquer as they started their relationship. I loved that both of our main characters were in their 40’s, had already experienced some life, and were both left wanting more. Val was so curious, definitely hesitant, but she took to many of the scenes and I loved her creative use of “Blue.” It showed how cheeky she could be, and there was some amazing banter between Val and Eric. Master Eric was like a hard shelled candy with a gooey center - he had to be tough and the most dominant to everyone, but around Val, he was able to open up and show who he truly was. This book was incredibly sensual and a little shocking at times (hehe) but the ending scene was amazing! Wow! I loved this book, and it definitely left me wanting more books in this series and from Ms. Taylor!
This was a low angst book about mid life. Eric is the master Dom/owner of a sex club. He’s retired military and semi retired former military contractor special ops…. Wow that’s wordy. Anyways hard core dude. Val’s sweet husband died a year or so ago. She’s always wanted to be a sub but her hubby wasn’t I to it. When she gets an anonymous invitation to an exclusex club she decides to go for it. It’s pretty much instalove and this is her journey to living the sun dream and falling in love with her dream Dom.
3.5 stars for what is an entertaining and pleasing read
Overall I enjoyed this steamy, BDSM romance. The writing is good, I found the style both engaging and easy to read. The story is written third person with the focus alternating between the Hero and heroine's points of view. For me, at an approximately 2 hour read, this skirts the edge of being a novella. It is the first book I have read by the author and, even though it is a spin off from a prior series, this is easy to read as a stand alone.
I adored the heroine Val, she was a totally natural character and felt very believable. I found it harder, at times, to connect with Eric and wish we had more scenes of him out of the club. The whole book focused on Eric and Val's interactions and was mainly set within Decadence. We needed more non-relationship and non-Decadence scenes to balance out the story and give the characters more depth. There was definitely more 'getting to know' Val than there was Eric but not enough, leaving the book feeling a little underdeveloped at times. On balance this didn't adversely affect my enjoyment of the story.
The BDSM scenes inside the club are quite intense but generally not too sleazy or vulgar. I did have an issue with the final scene, given that Eric and Val had only just started playing together and Val was an utter newbie to the scene I couldn't believe that Eric would ask her to do a demonstration scene without talking through it in detail in advance. Saying to trust him and it was a 'surprise' would have been fine if she was either experienced OR they had known each other for more than a couple of weeks. Other than this the BDSM element was very well portrayed, definitely making sure it was safe, sane and consensual.
Personally I'm not a fan of the insta-love trope, so would have preferred that this couple weren't declaring their love for each other after having spent a scant few hours in each other's company. It would have felt much more believable to have extended the time line in the book, especially when Eric's security job kept dragging him away from Val and they didn't even text or chat on the phone during this time. The entire book was set over little more than two weeks, that may well not bother you but it was just far too fast for my taste and did affect my enjoyment.
I loved that both Val and Eric are more mature characters, though it did give rise to a timeline query. Val married her dead husband straight after graduating from college, yet she was 40 and had two children also away at college. She really needed to be 43+ for that to work, again not a biggie but this type of inconsistency tends to bug me.
In summary it's a decent read, the BDSM is SSC without being too hard core and the characters are both very likeable. All in all reading this is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.
Revised and Revamped for your reading pleasure This is a sweet and endearing insta-love story that will capture your heart and leave you with a smile Eric and Val are long past the playful carefree years of youth both are looking for a little more in their lives, something less nightly and more permanent. When Valerie receives an invitation to a local BDSM club, encouraged by her friends (many of us have those friends ), she takes the leap and finds herself on the doorstep of club Decadence, and in the arms of one of the owners Eric. This is a sweet and tender romance that makes its way from the door to the dungeon, taking the reader with Eric and Val on a sensual and heartfelt journey as they explore one another and test the waters of consent and trust.
I am looking forward to reading more in this series, I received this copy complimentary. Contains a strong cast both main characters and supporting An intelligent storyline that is easy to follow and engages the reader from the opening to the closing of the book
I read this story pretty quickly and it was entertaining..just a bit vanilla. Eric and Valerie's story takes place in a sex club, Decadence, where Eric is a master and Valerie starts out a new adventure as a submissive. As I said, I liked the story and the characters, but being about a sex club I found it pretty tame..but maybe that's me. I loved Valerie..she is not just a pretty face and she is also not twenty anymore, which is a bonus in my book..makes it more interesting. Eric kinda swing from stern to fluffy..but I love that he is honest to a fault and can also be sweet. No drama which I loved..communication people lol..very mature reactions and responses. I look forward to read more books.
Maddie Taylor takes her Club Decadence series to Los Angeles with the Master My Love, the first in the Decadence L.A. spin-off series.
When widowed submissive mom Valerie Thornton gets an anonymous invite to a BDSM club, she decides it's time to explore her own desires. But without a specific sponsor, she's stuck being tied (literally) to Master Eric Dupree while at the club.
This novella is a relatively short intro to the new series, with few connections to the old one. I like that Valerie and Eric are older, and that she's taking her own sexual power by embracing her submission. Still, it feels like a novella, and not a complete story, which is why I'm rating it as I am.
Valerie Thornton is ready to make changes in her life, she is ready to look for her own fulfillment. She is a widow and now an empty nester. A mysterious invitation to an exclusive club in LA is just the push she needs. We follow Valerie as she learns what it is like to be a part of this exclusive lifestyle. Will it give her the answers she needs? The owner himself is guiding her, he is finding himself attracted to her.
Will both of their lives be changing? Is she ready to try or stay in her vanilla world?
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Maddie Taylor loves to walk that fine line between edgy and innocent. Eric and Valerie are proof that these traits go hand in hand. She's looking for a way to spice up her life. He's in need of a challenge. What ensues is an attraction that will steam up any ereader. Hotter than any blush. (3.5 stars)
I'm just going to start out with one of the things I like very best about this book, and what I think makes it so terrifically awesome. The heroine, Valerie, isn't a 20 year old with a perfect body. She's a 40-something with the body of a woman who is in her 40s and who has given birth to children. All too often, these kinds of books are full of young women with older men, but this one has a older woman with a man of about the same age. It's refreshing to see.
Valerie is a widow with 2 grown children. She's worked hard to get herself to where she is. So when she gets a mysterious invitation to a new sub night at the local club, she screws her courage to the sticking place and decides to go. When she gets to the club, she starts to chicken out, but then Master T convinces her to go in. He says that he will give her a tour and introduce her to some of the "fluffier Doms" so she can ease into BDSM. Only, the Dom she becomes entranced with isn't a fluffy one. It's Master Eric. The boss of the club. The Domliest Dom who ever Dommed. And the attraction is mutual.
This was a very enjoyable story to read. Valerie and Eric work really well together and the story is about Val figuring out who she is and what she wants and needs and what it will take for her to get what she wants and needs. All the conflict is internal to their relationship, and even that isn't bad. It's definitely a boy meets girl, boy spanks girl, boy and girl live happily ever after kind of story, and it's perfect for these two.
I loved this story with its charming characters and witty dialog. The story kept me captivated and the pages turning. The series will have people from previous stories, but each will read well as a stand-alone and can be read out of order. I loved the relationship of Master Eric Dupree and Submissive Valerie Thornton.
A private invitation to an exclusive BDSM club will be taken as a sign to Valerie. Widowed, a submissive, but she had been married to a vanilla man. Now, she decides it is time to do something for herself. Meeting Eric Dupree takes her breath away, can she really do this?
In the story, Valerie receives a mysterious, unsigned invitation to open Sub night at Decadence LA BDSM club, she goes. Her late husband was strictly vanilla and left her desiring more. Taken under the protection of Master Eric, Valerie soars to new heights.
The story had delightful characters, colorful descriptions of the club seen through a new Submissive's eyes and witty dialogue. Another plus to the story was that both characters are in their forties, not young people. There are great chemistry between Eric and Valerie and plenty of eroticisms.
I look forward to more books in this excellent series and spin-off from the Club Decadence series.
I was thrilled to find out about an addition to the Club Decadence books. Maddie Taylor has been a favorite of mine for a while and this new book is no exception. She never lets us down. Master Eric is not a fluffy Dom but he is tender just when he needs to be. I loved that Valerie is so “real”. We can’t all be and twenty year old virgins. But Valerie is a sexy forty year old BDSM virgin and insecure, something we can all relate to. Good job, Maddie Taylor! Together the two make sparks fly in an intense and sensual scene that is sure to leave you begging for more. This book is sizzling hot, and the carousel is out of this world…
Wow!! I loved this book, and as with previous books, Ms. Taylor was well-versed in the BDSM lifestyle. The story was fast-paced, easy to follow, emotionally gripping, and clearly defined. The characters were likable and believable. Despite my desire to savor each page, I plowed through it in one sitting. What I liked more than anything was that this romance was between a mature couple seeking someone special in their lives. Who said desire was only for the young?
Eric was Master Dom at Club Decadence and worked for Rossi Security. Both kept him busy, but his lifestyle no longer met his needs. Valerie filled a hole in his heart. I admired how Eric remained in charge while still acknowledging Valerie’s intelligence. He was the entire package. Protective, stern, and sex on sticks, I loved him for his warmth, strength, and compassion, but he was firm with Valerie when she stepped out of line.
It was refreshing living the journey of submission through Valerie’s eyes. She was hesitant initially when she received an anonymous invitation to Club Decadence. A widow and empty nester, Valerie dug up the courage to attend an open sub night at the Club, which started a new chapter in her life. She craved Eric’s mastery and her trust in him was pure and honest. Her sexual awakening was beautifully portrayed.
This was an interesting story with great characters, fine writing, and kink. The sex scenes were graphic and detailed. The book was delicious and smooth like a good red wine.
Valerie is on the precipice of a life change. She is single, her kids are grown and she is ready to try to broaden her sexual horizons when an anonymous invitation to BDSM club arrives in her mailbox. With the help of a friends she makes her way to club and her new way of living. As a woman of a certain age, it is refreshing to read a book about a woman coming into her own and her sexuality after age 25. And does it without making the woman obsessive about her weight, laugh lines or stretch marks. Valerie is a character who, while she regrets her first outfit choice, doesn't shy from getting naked with a man she finds attractive. Enter Eric, owner of the Club Decadence L.A. He is confident, comfortable in his own skin and over the young things that while attractive don't have much in common with him. T The story is a great trip through BDSM 101 with Eric as the experienced, yet caring Dom and Valerie the curious and cautious but willing to learn sub. The sex scenes are well done and (though I have no first hand experience) realistic feeling. The pace of the book is quick though the relationship between the leads come across as organic so it doesn't feel rushed. A nice start to a this offshoot BDSM club series.
Maddie Taylor is a new to me author, so I didn't know what to expect. Especially since I never know how I'll react to any story in the BDSM genre, as it could go either way. I can either be mad as hell the whole story, or love it enough to be curious about D/s relationships, and Ms. Taylor with her talented writing style has colored me curious, though I'm a control freak alpha female. It all starts with Valerie getting an invitation to a most exclusive BDSM club, on an open Sub night, so she decides to check it out. She's quickly taken under Master Eric's wing, and learns how much that she loves this lifestyle. And that's all the I'm giving away about the plot. I really enjoyed this story that was hot has hell for one, with characters that I really imprinted on. Plus the witty dialogue really had me happily entertained. However, my favorite part was the fact that Eric & Valerie were over 40, as there aren't too many stories out there with this age group, and we 40+ peeps need love too! Anyway, I'll happily read more by this author in the future, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Valerie Thornton is a 40 year old widow, mother of two, empty nester, lonely and wanting something else. She received an invitation to an exclusive club but doesn't know where it came from or anything about this club so of course she has to check it out. Decadence LA is the most exclusive sex and bondage club on the West Coast. While working up the courage to go inside and see what it's all about a male voice tells her "if you don't do it now, you might never get the nerve again".
Inside she meets Eric Dupree 44, a Master Dom. He's an owner of the club but also part of the Rossi Security with his satellite office growing faster than they expected. He's also a retired Navy SEAL having focused on his career and being a bachelor but it's time for a change and the next chapter in his life.
After he meets Valerie he's charmed by her and can't get her out of his head. He decides to take her under his wing. She's very much out of her comfort zone and inexperienced in this type of world. Will he scare her away? Will her fears hold her back?
I typically don't read longer stories that are centered around BDSM. Short stories and novellas are pretty much my limit because it just seems to get redundant. The blurb for Master My Love stood out to me though, and since I'd never read anything by Maddie Taylor, I figured I give it a try.
Master My Love was pretty steamy, enough that it kept my interest throughout the entire book. I liked that Val was older and not someone just above the legal age limit. To me, it just gave the story a little more depth and was more engaging since Val had the job, the kids, the deceased husband, etc. She'd lived life, more than someone half her age. I could actually see myself feeling the same way she did, given that we are close in age.
Some of the content was a little witty, or I should say on the edge for me personally, but it was a really good story. It was way different from anything I've read lately so that was a plus for me. I'm excited for the next installment in the Decadence L.A. series. Great job Maddie Taylor, you've won me over as a fan and loyal reader.
I really liked this one. Sweet, spicey, just enough BDSM for fun with no sadism. And bonus, the female and male lead characters were in their 40s. No super young-somethings with perfect bodies and faces. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just great to read about mature characters for a change.
The FL is a widow with children out of the nest and a desire to finally try some things just for her. Love that there's a woman who finally makes time for herself and takes some big risks in order to settle some fantasies.
The ML is an experienced Dom who's tired of the parade of girls looking for an older father type. He's fascinated by this woman who takes a chance to check out a lifestyle that's always lurked in the background of her fantasy life.
This is a sweet story of love as well as smokin sex. There's a secondary story that I wouldn't have minded getting more play and making this a longer book. That's a missed opportunity. And the shorter story, really a novella, made this review 4 stars instead of 5.
Overall, I'm definitely ready to read more Maddie Taylor.
Val has been widowed for several years and with her children off to college, she is lonely. One day she receives an invitation to an exclusive club, one that stirs her secret longings. She almost chickens out on the very steps of the club, when a kind Dom offers his protection to allow her to check things out while in his care. Unfortunately, he is almost immediately called away for business. Luckily for Val, the Master Dom Eric, is willing to take care of her for the evening. The sparks fly as this mature couple become acquainted. Can a somewhat naive woman fall for a Master Dom? Can Eric settle down with one woman and help her enjoy a lifestyle she's only dreamed about? This is lovely story and a great introduction to a new series about Decadence L.A. Val learns about the lifestyle and both she and Eric wrestle with decisions about their future. I enjoyed the story and only wish it was a bit longer to see a further development of their relationship.
I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through Booksprout arc
Valerie received and envelope under her door telling her to come to the club. When Valerie gets there as she is wondering around and one of the Doms asked her how she gotten into the Club. He took her under his wing since she didn’t have a Dom sponsoring her. Master Eric comes over and takes her with him on a tour of the club. Valerie was invited to take classes for being a sub for all novices. Master Eric is taken by surprise when he wanted it to be the one to initiate her. Valerie was taken back since she heard he was into edgy play. Things are going well for Master Eric and his new sub . Valerie said she would help with his demonstration little did she know what she was getting herself into. Twists Turns and some really hot moments. I would say it was a very enjoyable read.
Valarie gets an invitation to a BDSM club, deciding to take on the new chapter encouraged by her friend, and thinking if she doesn’t try she will never know and invitations to Decadence LA don’t happen all the time. Meeting Master T, who has to leave suddenly, Valarie is surprised that Master Eric, offers to show her the club, Eric makes her body sizzle with just a look. Valarie wants more and agrees to go to classes, surprised that Eric is the one teaching her and learns exactly how Eric’s touch makes her feel, I loved Valarie she’s tries so hard but gets caught up in what Eric is making her feel, giving blue as a colour for how she is feeling, saying she’s somewhere between green and yellow. Eric knows it’s going to be fun teaching Valarie, but what is going to happen when the lessons finish.
Absolutely what a great start to the offshoot of Club Decadence as we go the the LA series and wow I, so loving it…. Widower Valarie Thornton receives an mysterious invitation to Club Decadence and on a thin thread of bravery she takes on her nerves and follows her heart to enter the club to hopefully discover what she has been missing only to be placed into Master Eric Dupree’s arms… Eric has been the Master at Decadence LA since opening as well as working at Rossi Security on several cases is finding life a little shaded but when submissive newbie Valerie is shown in the club he is attracted to the beautiful widow who is wanting to find the spice in her life… I loved the whole second chance, later in life, wanting more, sassy and stern, steamy D/s read and I want more…
The first book in the Decadence LA series. I really enjoyed the original series, so i was happy to read the spin off.
What I loved about this book was that the main characters were a bit older. It is nice to read about characters around the same age and it shows that this lifestyle is for people of all ages and you are never to old to try new things.
Valerie, was a great characters. her reactions and hesitation and struggles came across of very real and it was wonderful see her find love with Eric.
Eric was yummy and the perfect combination of stern, loving and patience.
WOW this book should come with a warning will need extra batteries. I could not put this book down once I started. I'm a sucker for a good BDSM, so I was in love with this book right away. Valerie is single, her kids are grown and she is ready to try to broaden her sexual horizons when an anonymous invitation to BDSM club arrives in her mailbox. Now throw Eric in to the mix, he is the sex club owner. Then you have one steamy BDSM 101. Eric as the experienced, caring Dom and Valerie is curious but willing to learn. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. This is a must read! i recommend this book to anyone that loves to read BDSM
Valerie receives a mysterious invite to a BDSM club in her mailbox and decides to go to see what she is missing in her life. Her very vanilla husband died a while ago and her children have grown up and moved away so she is all alone. She meets the Master Dom, Eric Dupree and is smitten. Eric is done with play partners and wants to settle down and thinks Valerie could be the one. He introduces her to the lifestyle and shows her that there is more to the lifestyle than just sex and BDSM.
I absolutely loved this book and can't to read the next book in the series about Club Decadence. If you love alpha doms with a teddy bear side to them then you will love this book.
What a great introduction to Club Decadence LA. Maddie's descriptions of the play area were so real I felt I was right there watching, hearing, smelling and experiencing the room. She has given us such rich characters. Eric, the Master Dom, sees Valerie as she struggles with her fears when entering the club for the first time and he is very interested in this little Sprite. Valerie, a widow, wants new experiences and an invitation to the club sparks her interest, and meeting Master Eric helps. Details are one thing Maddie is so good at as well as humor, intense steam and a HEA. I look forward to more stories of the family at this club in LA.
This was a really good BDSM read... I enjoyed this book and the characters. Val was so innocent, regardless of her age. I loved how everything was introduced to her and the patience shown. This wasn't hard-core, if that turns people off. I would have liked more scenes and dating between Eric and Val. This book moved very fast. I love that Val was per se a size 1 be coveted. The love scenes were steamy and hot. Overall good read, and I would say those who are curious if they like this genre, this would be a good one to start with.
I received an ARC of this book, all of the opinions and thoughts are my own.
This was a delightful story of two people who are NOT in the 20s and 30s for a change. Making Eric and Val 40 something was a superb choice on the author's part. It's really very comforting and hopeful to know that all this wonderful kinky sex and love is not just for the young. There really isn't much more to say except that the story is really too short. There must be more going on at Club Decadence LA and between Eric and Val.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow an invitation to the Decadent new lifestyle establishment. Val can't believe an invitation just when she thinks she is missing something in her life. She has all but given up hope that she would meet the man that could bring out the submissive hiding in her. Eric, Master Dom can't get her off of his mind. He is drawn to Val and after being a bachelor for so long, could she be the one? Well, you will just have to read this and find out with all the twists and turns in this exciting novel.
Rocking hot writer Maddie Taylor has come out with a brand new smoking hot new series about the intensely alpha Doms and their equally sassy subs in the Decadance LA series. The first of this so hot series is Master My Love, Valerie gets an invite in the mail for the hottest new BDSM club in LA. She goes, not knowing who invited her, and she catches the eye of owner and Master Dom Eric. He’s not happy that she’s there without a sponsor, but things soon begin to change when Val shows Eric what she’s made of. Such a great read! And I’m most definitely looking out for number 2!
I liked that the H and h are in their 40's and are giving love a second chance after heartache. Some bdsm, steamy sexy scenes, experiencing new things later in life. Being at Club Decadence LA is giving Valerie the chance to learn what she has been missing all her life and that she's not as vanilla as she always thought she was. Eric is used to being in charge but he's missing something and he's found that something in Valerie. These 2 are combustible, the story is really good and the start to a new and interesting series!
