Pain... Terror... Chaos. Human suffering has augmented the power of the Dark Veil for thousands of years. During times of extreme imbalance between the Dark Veil and the Shine, intensifications of the auras have resulted in powerful physical manifestations on Earth.
These events have been documented by human history in the forms of myths and stories. Most major human religions have recorded accounts of figures, such as Satan in the Christian religion, in order to explain these occurrences. Now, the Dark Veil has spawned a powerful agent on Earth. Strengthened by the negative force generated during World War 2, He has assumed his most formidable form.
This time, there will be no stopping Him and his quest to cleanse the human world of sin.
The Legend of Shadow and Light is an epic tale about the rise of the agent of Dark Veil and the desperate response by the Order of the Shine to save humanity.
In Volume one, readers are taken 'Into the Darkness', as the Dark Veil's spawn takes physical form and the world descends into despair. The Dark One builds a devastating Black Legion of the undead and the zombie apocalypse begins.
Can members of the Shine rally in time to prevent total destruction? The bodies of thousands of innocent residents from eight obliterated U.S. cities leave no reason for confidence.

"Into the Darkness: An Apocalyptic Zombie Novel (The Legend of Shadow and Light)" by Fox Lee is a gripping thriller with multiple strands of narratives that tie together very well. One perspective comes from an evil narrator, one tells of an unspeakable crime committed against a Jewish woman and her unborn child by the Nazis in 1942, and another is set in contemporary Washington. Throw in paranormal aspects, romance and fast paced action writing and you have an idea what kind of exhillerating book you have in front of you: Complex, intelligent, well written and a blend of grim horror with fantasy. The suspense is immediate and never lets up throghout the book, which is the beginning of a very promising series. The author leaves you with open questions and an appetite for the next book. Fans of the paranormal and fantasy thrillers will not want to miss this.
Into The Darkness: The Legend of Shadow and Light is billed as an apocalyptic zombie novel, but it is anything but your average run of the mill undead exploration. Instead, Fox Lee’s book, which by all accounts, is the beginning of what promises to be an epic series of Armageddon sized proportions, eschews standard zombie fare to become a melange of action, thrills and terror that also happens to be occurring right in the centre of a zombie apocalypse. At the heart of it, detailed in a brief prologue and a couple of gruesome and intricately introductory chapters a sinister parasitic entity feeds upon all the terrible sorrows and travails which are experienced by humanity, an entity that has travelled through the mists of time warping the minds of men to do evil bidding, both Vlad the Impaler and Adolf Hitler recounted as prime examples. Fast forward some seventy odd years later and unusually lucky ladiesman Quinn O’Brien is out enjoying an evening drinking with his buddies, checking out girls. After meeting the feisty Hope, Quinn later discovers in her company why it is he has always been so lucky, with a mysterious old fellow spinning him a tale about him being in possession of the Shine. And while the Shine is the Light, the good within the world, there too exists the Shadow, the Dark Veil. Thus, the universes of these two random souls are completely turned upside down as they enter a world they would believe possible. Into The Darkness has a broad scope, encompassing a wide array of characters, landscapes and situations and with such a vast array of character developments and storylines unfolding, this could have fallen into a state of disarray or confusion, but in the deft hands of Lee, the complexities which crop up are handled with aplomb and plots are neatly linked throughout. This tale pits good against evil with great results and memorable villains-Zorn is truly a standout-and to top off all of these engaging plots and subplots, and wonderfully realised characters, the author drops in bucketloads of flesh chomping zombies and the scene is truly set for horrendous apocalypse. There are taut thrills, myriad bursts of action, and loads of undead horror and even spots of romance woven all together to create this captivating piece and it’s a wonderful stage setter for the ensuing series. Once you read this one, you’ll be hanging out for the next episode of the Legend of Shadow and Light.
An evil force gains its sustenance through mankind's misery and suffering, like an ageless parasite. As famines, war, and pandemics ravage humans, the entity bloats like a disgusting, blood sucking bottom feeder. At the most extreme end of the spectrum of evil, the entity takes on a human shape.
In World War II Germany, the Nazis conducted gruesome and brutal research. As the result of one particularly cruel experiment, the entity was born in the form of an infant human. Not surprisingly, he developed a rapport with Adolph Hitler. After he broke the dictator's mind, the entity was sealed in a cavern by the Nazis.
Now, it's seventy years later and time for the Final Reckoning. In East Lansing, Michigan, Quinn lives near Michigan State University. He has always been extremely lucky, without the balance of bad luck. When Miyagi, the strange old man in flowing robes, tells Quinn he has the Shine, he's bewildered.
Into the Darkness: An End of Days Zombie Thriller is the first offering in the exciting new series Legend of Shadow and Light by Lee Fox. With a fresh take on the zombie apocalypse, Into the Darkness will have you moaning and groaning, shambling for the next book in the series.
Monstrous Fun with Non-Stop Action! This is a really enjoyable action thriller that has the feel of a fast paced epic disaster movie. The author blends many genres effortlessly resulting in a unique and enthralling story. It begins with alternative history horror, but quickly transitions thru action thriller and super power awakening, culminating in end of days disaster. The zombies are a believable monstrous horde. They have an epic fantasy feel mixed with a touch of classic horror. As the story pulls you along, forcing you to miss sleep and ignore chores, you become quite attached to the characters and invested in observing their development. The bad guy Zorn, who is essentially the devil incarnate, is evolving in interesting ways as is the hero Quinn. What is happening to Quinn I can’t say without spoiling things, so you will have to read it for yourself. Surprisingly, Quinn did not capture my interests and affection nearly as much as his friend Hope. I’m predicting big things for hope as the story unfolds in the future. The book ends just as the disaster is really getting hot, so be prepared to impatiently wait for book two. Amongst many other things I’m looking forward to in the next book, I’m dying to find out why the old Chinese man is called “Dragon!”
“Into the Darkness” by Fox Lee is an incredible rush from page one. The writing is fast-paced, and keeps you turning the pages wondering what will happen next. The characters are top-notch as well. Quinn has to be one of the most likeable characters I’ve recently read. He was so well-crafted that he jumped off the page as soon as he was introduced. I felt like from his first scene I knew exactly who he was and like he was an old friend. I love it when that happens in a book! Hope is just as likeable. The undeniable chemistry and tension between Quinn and Hope made me begging for them to get together – and this isn’t even a romance novel!
The villains in the book…at first I wondered if there were so many that they would run together, but Lee has so masterfully developed them that they each stood out for their own reasons, and all of them were terrifying as hell. Each one gave me reason to fear their next moves. I would love to say more—I really want to!—but I do not want to spoil the book for anyone. Just know going in that the villains will blow you away just as much as Quinn and Hope. I cannot recommend this book enough. You will not be disappointed with this thrill-fest! I can’t wait to read the next installment!
Into the Darkness by Fox Lee is an imaginative work of urban fantasy/horror that takes the battle of light versus darkness in a unique direction that sets it apart from others in this genre.
The evil force leading the assault was done well, creating a dark consciousness that had manifest itself in a multitude of both recognizable and new physical forms in Lee's imagined history. This was a smart choice, as it wasn't merely a monster that never lost, but rather an entity that would lose a battle, then fade away until strong enough to return and fight again (even if it took decades to do so). I wasn't a big fan of Dragon and his broken speech pattern; however that was a minor thing.
Without giving too much away, the manner in which Lee utilized the Zombies was quite innovative and truly added to the story in a good way. I also appreciated the inclusion of both street level thugs and international terrorists to further the evil agenda.
Lee delivered an apocalyptic tale driven by a dark force rather than the standard military experiment gone wrong which was quite refreshing. This was an entertaining read that others will surely enjoy.

Ahh… boy was I freaked out by this book – in a good way. I knew that I was in for a zombie horror story, but I didn’t expect to be so tied into it since it’s not really my genre. I found myself unable to put this book down when the sun began to set, and had to watch several comedies on TV before being able to shut my eyes. I’ll admit, I was hiding under the security of my blanket – don’t judge me.
Even though this book is of decent length, I felt that it was a relatively easy read. I thought that the author did an excellent job adding just enough details to make it a wonderfully developed book without too many details to make it sound cheesy or unrealistic. I will recommend this to all my friends, and then laugh when they hide under their blankets at night.
Okay, I had a lot of feelings about this book. I took my time reading it due to the many twists and turns that the plot took and I was wowed by the author's amazing sense of imagination. Vivid details were painted for us describing the 'zombies' and the plight of our hero. It's definitely a book I could read a second time and will perhaps read again in the future. I loved how he mixed in history with the story.
I am bewildered by the low star ratings that this novel received and while I did see a small flaws (what book lacks flaws entirely?) I felt that none of them were worthy of such a harsh rating. This was a good book and it entertained me for days.
I recommend this for anyone in search of a thrilling horror tale.
You need to have a couple of days free before you get into this book. The fast paced action will make you tune the rest of the world out It is a combination of horror, suspense and action. A complete end of days, zombie thriller!
I can’t decide which character and whose journey I enjoyed more. Zorn’s who is the Devil incarnate bent on destroying the world or Quinn’s who gets catapulted into the protector of the world! They were equally exciting and the momentum builds up as you read the book and by the end, you’re totally caught up in the fight between good and evil. The characters are vivid and real.
A tight, well written novel that holds you spellbound. Great job!
I LOVED it. Into the Darkness is so much more than a zombie thriller. It has an intriguing, clever and fast moving storyline with rich and well crafted characters. There is no shortage of action, and this coupled with that tinge of romance makes it a very enthralling read. Highly recommended. 5 golden stars well deserved. Roll on the next novel please.
Firstly, I'll just point out that I'm not a big zombie apocalypse fan, but I have a flat mate that has been making me watch a ton of films about them and as we all know, books are better than films so I thought I'd give this one a go. Now I give five stars for either characters that I've fallen head over heels in love with or a plot that won't let me put the book down. I can't say I fell in love with the characters because Zorn is one scary (insert certain swear words here) villain. He was gruesome from the start and as far as villains go, I'd want him on my evil team any day. Quinn is thoroughly likeable, if a bit naive, and well, no I didn't like Hope. But in a zombie apocalyptic world, I'm not one to like the characters that need babysitting. I loved that this started off as a historical horror, particularly because I studied WWII and the Nazi's. But by that beginning I certainly didn't expect to go on the journey that Fox Lee took me on. I'm not giving anything away because this is a unique story all on it's own but be warned, the cliffhanger will leave you wanting more.
I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
