[I had to make a slight title change (removing the '2013') which necessitated an entirely new upload. Content is exactly the same.] All the recipes in the Lazy Low Cal Lifestyle Complete Cookbook have easy-to-find ingredients and simple instructions. Quick, low calorie recipes that are delicious and inexpensive, many of which you can get on the table in a jiffy. Do you want to lose weight? All the recipes are portion controlled and tell you exactly how many calories and servings. There are main dishes, meatless options, side dishes, sweets and snacks — all of them under 400 calories per serving. Are you lazy? I am, so you know these recipes are simple. I'll never make you scurry around town shopping for spices or utensils you'll only use once. Are you an inexperienced cook? These recipes can't fail. I've tried and tested all of them, and most are family favorites here at Casa Lazy. I firmly believe my motto: "If you can read, you can cook." And if you've gotten this far in the description, I have faith in you. Do you dislike cooking? Yeah, me too. Don't get me wrong, I like eating; I just get tired of the day-to-day grind of having to cook. So you can believe me when I say that I've figured out all kinds of lazy ways to turn ingredients into delicious meals. Are you in your first apartment? I had my 20-something kids in mind when I created many of these recipes. They didn't have money but they had an oven, a microwave, some pots and pans, a refrigerator and running water. That's all you need. (Oh, you'll need electricity too.) Are you a cheapskate? This cookbook is cheap. Ingredients are cheap. Recipes are portion-controlled so you'll have cheap, planned leftovers. You'll only need cheap, basic kitchen stuff. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Have I convinced you? C'mon … give it a spin! Take a peek inside and see if it’s right for you.
Becky Clark is the seventh of eight kids, which explains both her insatiable need for attention and her atrocious table manners. She likes to read funny books so it felt natural to write them too. She surrounds herself with quirky people and pets who end up as characters in her books. Her stout-hearted dog keeps her safe from menacing squirrels, leaves, and deer, but not plastic bags. Those things are terrifying.
Readers say her books are “fast and thoroughly entertaining” with “witty humor and tight writing” and “humor laced with engaging characters” so you should “grab a cocktail and enjoy the ride.” They also say “Warning: You will laugh out loud. I’m not kidding,” and “If you like Janet Evanovich, you will like Becky Clark.”
She writes the Dunne Diehl novels (with Ted Hardwick), the Mystery Writer's Mysteries, and the upcoming Crossword Puzzle Mysteries, as well as some low-calorie cookbooks, and a how-to book about writing a novel, "Eight Weeks to a Complete Novel: Write Faster, Write Better, Be More Organized."
You'll hear about new releases, maybe win some prizes, find out about book promotions from her and others, read interviews from new-to-you authors, and more. (As you might have gleaned from the title, she won't inundate your inbox, either.)
I have a sizable stack of cookbooks... But like so many, I manage to maybe make one of the recipes, and that's it. Usually the ingredients are hard to come by, or I'm just too tired at the end of a long day to spend an hour in the kitchen.
If you're like me, this cookbook is for you. There are so many easy, delicious recipes in here, it'll have my cooking dilemmas solved for a year. Most of the time, I have the needed ingredients in my pantry. I made several recipes already (recommend the Speedy Chili), and will be trying the others out too.
Highly recommend, whether you're watching calories or not.
Lots of easy recipes that are really good. I'm a lazy cook, but want to try new things. This book satisfies that. It's written in easy steps that anyone can do.
