***2.5 Stars***

The story picks up about 8 months after the first book. Zach and Ryan are blissfully happy and Ryan is ready to move their relationship forward. However, a trip to Portland and an awkward threesome turns their whole relationship on its head and Zach and Ryan are left reeling.

This book started off as a nice and easy quick read, however, that threesome was beyond awkward. And Steve....well, Steve is a manipulative asshole. The tides quickly shifted and the book took a nose dive. I'm all for a nice and spicy romp in the sheets with an extra participant, but ALL parties need to be 100% on board. And communication....communication is key. Boundaries must be set and adhered to.

The aftermath pissed me off even more....what did I say? Communication, people!! Open your mouth and say some words. A lot of unnecessary turmoil was created because Zach and Ryan didn't talk this out. And then the end...."my bad, I love you." Too easy, too rushed.

The next book in the series is about dear old Steve....I have zero interest in dear old Steve. I think this is the end of the road for me.

Here's some Beyonce for you....because this song was in my head the whole time I was reading.

What a story! Dang, this is what makes me a fan of Aria Grace.

Drunk in Love pulls at every heartstring I've got. The connection the two mc's make... and what happens to them? Ah, the feels!

I enjoyed this one on audio and Douglas Dale is wonderful! As I was sniffling my way through the isles of the grocery store 🤨... Curse you and your amazing ability to hit me where it counts Aria Grace!

This second book was coming along nicely. Zach and Ryan have been together for 8 months now. Ryan is still a bit insecure in the relationship. I knew immediately that this wouldn't be as good as the first book. I was thinking 3 star rating until out of the blue we get

What happens next in the story isn't worth mentioning. I considered giving this 1 star but I did like the first half of the book. I'm disappointed with this addition to the series.

So, this installment played out almost exactly how I expected, and how I wanted it too, BUT, whoa, I did not expect Zach to be the one to have the issues. The blurb mentions an ex, a wild night, and things changing, so don’t go crying that you didn’t see it coming people. I got my requisite angst and tear-jerker, but I was thrown by how it how it happened.

Steve is Zach’s ex boyfriend. An ex because his dad was sick and Steve had to move away to care for him, not because they had issues and split up. So Steve is still very friendly with Zach, and as a matter of fact, they do business together. The problem was all Zach. He didn’t communicate (typical male) to Ryan how much of a horn dog Steve was and that he didn’t trust him. So seriously, since Ryan is a newly out gay man, Zach really needed to offer him some guidance. He didn’t and they pay the price.

Instead we have three boys drinking, a lot, and an offer of a night of playing around. That’s all fine and dandy…as long you tell the truth .The truth being that Zach didn’t want it, couldn’t fathom someone touching Ryan, but he kept his mouth shut. Ryan ends up being the one heartbroken, but in my opinion it was all on Zach…and on Steve too because he carelessly broke their rules. He was a shithead.

So yeah, it was as expected but I would have enjoyed it bit more if the ending wasn’t so rushed. I needed a better explanation from Zach and I needed Ryan to put up a bit more of a fight. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they are in love and all that, but the boys settled up too easily and I needed just a little more. I’m still interested in Steve’s book though, the knucklehead, and I’m not too sure how he can redeem himself, but I am looking forward to seeing him try.

I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the sequel of More than Friends and you need to read it first before this one.
Ryan and Zach are finally together and they like to spend as much time as they can with one another. They really love each other but an ex and then a threesome will almost destroy what they have.
The story is on both POV and I really liked to read about their thoughts on different matters.
I’ve to say that Ryan did some things that really made me want to slap him. What did he think would have happened after the thing with Zach’s ex?
Zach did it what he thought it was right for Ryan and I really was on his side on this. He surely made a really bad choice that almost destroyed everything between them but in the end, it was Ryan that really crushed Zach: Ryan could have said NO (like Zach hoped for) but he didn’t. Ryan thought with his other brain and surely didn’t paid attention when all the pain was written on Zach’s face.
Plus, I was really disappointed when Zach went after Ryan after two months apart.
So...I liked the story but it was too short so I give it 3.5 stars.
Don’t worry, fellas..if you want a HEA, don’t miss it.

Shelby P wrote a review that was spot on for how I felt about this sequel. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I don't feel that this review will be considered spoilerish when a threesome is pretty much stated in the blurb. Not an actual review but just thoughts I had while reading.

This book is a good example of how inviting a third party into a committed relationship can be devastating if the couple is not completely honest with their feelings and expectations beforehand. I have never been a fan of open relationships or inviting others to play in a committed couple. That is not a comment or judgment on those readers who enjoy menage or other types of play in relationships. Personally more often than not I don't enjoy the change in dynamic that additions like this cause.

Zach was not completely honest with Ryan about his feelings going into the encounter; he should have spoken up when he felt reservations. I think it is by far better to be considered a c*ckblocker than to allow events to damage your relationship. Grow a pair Zach.

Now, Ryan. Ryan, if your partner agrees to "rules" in a play encounter, and you agree to those rules, but then you break them, what exactly do you expect?

"Ryan knew he'd screwed up. Big time. Ryan made the same promise Steve did, and in the heat of the moment, he didn't stop Steve. If he was honest, he wanted Steve to do it. He just wanted Zach to be okay with it. Apparently that wasn't the case."

And with those few sentences, I no longer felt any sympathy for Ryan. Relationships are difficult under the best circumstances. If you are not mature and honest enough to discuss your feelings with your partner, why bother?

The aspect of the story that irked me the most is definitely the clean wrap up. Spend miserable months apart, I miss you, oh everything is perfect again. No discussions, no plans, no resolution. Again, Grow a pair Zach.

Overall book rating: 2
Audio Book: Douglas Dale - 3
Book Cover: 4 (I love the Black and white and red – not the audio cover!)

And.....queue the “hormonal” drama...

WTF??? No. I’m sorry, I think I read these because of the covers. I like the covers.

These two guys are just all over the place, and not in a good way. I’m not going to go all ranting and raving here but I can’t even begin to justify their stupidity. For lack of a better word.

I’ll slap them both really hard and tell them to grow up. That’s all I want to say.

*** may be spoilers and also I'm not good at reviews so this may be more like a rant!

WHAT THE F***K . . . No! Zack, just leave Ryan. He's still young and needs to experiment more in having opened the door to the closet recently and clearly needs to do everything once before he finds out you were and are the best thing he would ever have. But no, dont go back crawling to him! Let him come to you x 20!!. I loved the first book, but hated this. WIll not continue the series, as the next one is with Steve, and from the reviews from that book, although it's high, I find that the author was trying to redeem Steve's character too hard, in the way he sounds like a completely different character from the one in this book and I just cant believe in it because I still find Zack's and Ryan's story unfinished to give 2 fucks about Steve. Maybe if this book had ended with more of a reconciliation and in depth thorough groveling and understanding from Ryan's part since his actions (although both consented to the threesome) he should have taken more care of his official partner. I would then MIGHT have continued with the rest of this series. Everything just went to smoothly and quick and with what had happened, I needed more. This book reminds me of another M/M novel I had read with a similar scenario of a threesome taking place with someone both partners knew, and again an ex boyfriend of one of them. Im not saying menages are bad, but in these situations when clearly one is an ex, jealousy and and other feelings clearly show up and I hated that book as well. The MC of that book was like Ryan, totally ignored his partner and continued to fuck the third person while his boyfriend left the room because he couldnt watch his boyfriend fuck his ex in their bed and looking like he was loving every minute of it, to the point it seemed he didnt exist no more! so he left and they never noticed!--If yall want the name of this book it'called PHANTOM LOVER by A.J LLEWELLYN , I get that when your in the euphoria of orgasm, your not thinking clearly but this review is based on my biased opinion and I dont like to share. So Im sorry to the author, I just cant continue with this series no more (TT^TT) maybe one day, but not now as I read this right after reading the first one and Ryan's and Zack's relationship in the beginning is still so fresh in my mind with their sweet love and still can't quite fathom this books development on their relationship. I didnt know this was a series, and didnt do my usual research because the first book was a free read. If I knew it would turn out like this I would have never started this series.

This book was given to me free by the author for an unbiased review.

Going in I knew this was partly Menage and generally I am ok with that.
However, in this case, the couple met for dinner with an ex of one of them and one thing leads to another and the 3 end up in bed.
Each of the couple wanted the other to say no, but they didn't. I have one hard limit and that's cheating and that's how I feel with the couple in this book and it was nearly a DNF for me.
In the end though, the couple got their HEA, but I had a hard time with the threesome.

5 Hot-as-F#%k-Stars! The story continues and unlike my reaction to book 1, in book 2 i was cursing and getting angry at Zach. I hate when people just check out because of some stupid issue in the relationship. And Zach not only checked out, but he f#%kin left! F#%k me! My heart actually ached for Ryan. ...on a good note, at least I got my happy ending. for those who love MM romances, this is one to read!

I wasn't going to say anything but after reading the reviews for this book I knew that this was something I couldn't be silent about. I was horrified by how other readers approached the scene presented in the book and I felt that I needed to say something before I delete this book from my phone and ignore it for the rest of my life. It's rather too bad since I didn't mind the first book.

Trigger Warning for Rape (Because of the topic, spoilers are also included)

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

What can I say? Ryan and Zach were cute in the first book and this continued during the first part of the book. However things go quickly downhill all from lack if communication. Zach and Ryan hook up with Z's ex, Steve, and the guy is a major jerk. Threesome occurs in which pre-arranged rules were ignored and again, no communication.

Zach freaks out about this and leaves Ryan. In Steve's arms. Not saying I feel for Ryan, but guys you brought this on yourselves. Hysterical breakup followed by months of wallowing. Neither man giving way, and I would have liked to seen Zach's side of this time, but we follow Ryan's POV and get more of Steve the creep.

Then, suddenly, we have reconciliation between Ryan and Zach when Ryan drunk dials Z. Z shows up and with a hand wave the two are once again, the perfect couple in love.

While I enjoyed the realism of the awkwardness of the threesome and aftermath, the book was really too short to explore the theme. I would have liked to see Zach and Ryan work a bit more on the lack of communication before the HEA.

Not certain I'll pick up the next in this series as it is about Steve the ass, but I enjoyed Grace's writing style and will try out some of the other works.

Novella’s are not my favorite in general, but I couldn’t help taking a peek at this hot little book. I got the first one free recently on Amazon and had to know what happens with Zach and Ryan next. In the first book Zach introduces Ryan to the way of man lovin. I totally loved the fact that Zach turned Ryan out and made him like boys. It was hot! This book follows their story 8 months later, when decisions have to made about moving in together, and making bigger commitments to their relationship. Steve, Zach’s tattooed and pierced up hottie of an ex boyfriend, enters the picture in this book and oh is it hot! I really enjoyed the M/M/M interaction. Lots of penis kisses. I really love penis kisses! ;) Will Zach and Ryan be able to stay together after their steamy interlude with Steve or will they let past insecurities and jealousy ruin their budding relationship? You gotta read these books and find out. Cant wait to get my hands on the next one.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an an honest review through the DBML program.

Since I loved the first book, I was excited to read a follow up on Ryan and Zach. But this turned out to be one big mess that never would happened if the idiots had just spoken to each other! When they go to Portland for a convention, they meet up with Steve, Zach's ex, and end up in a threesome that neither of them wanted. Zach ends up walking out on Ryan without any discussion and I just wanted to smack him for even bringing Steve into this whole mix. Words, people! Use your words! Don't walk out, pout like a three year old, and refuse to answer your phone. They got their HEA, but Ryan forgave Zach's childish tantrum way too easily. If there had been more groveling on Zach's part, I might have boosted my rating to 3 stars.

Overall another one of the 'nice' reads. It was fast, couldn't put it down. I liked the way the conflict was written, very believable. I found Ryan a tad bit too insecure and the head-hopping was a bit difficult. In the end the appearance of Zach was a bit startling and his explanation a bit far-fetched. I found the ending a bit too easy.

Stephen - oh, well, his story will be the follow-up. Not sure about that, he was a real jerk in this book. But knowing me and reading series, I'll probably give it a try.

Like book 1, I’ve read this one several times. And it’s a good short story. But no matter how many times I have read this, and now heard this story. My Heart just Hurts and breaks for how Selfish Steve is doing his part in the damage to Zach & Ryan’s relationship. Uugghh. I just get so upset every damn time, even though you can see what’s about to happen from a mile away. Damn it.
I will say that I think the Narration for this book 2 was better than the first book. I felt the narrator put a little more effort and emotion into this one.

This book killed me. After falling in love with Zach and Ryan (especially Ryan!), the situation they found themselves in was tormenting me! I was so annoyed with Ryan's naive carelessness, frustrated with Zach's self-fulfilling prophetic ways and self-righteousness...and Steve! I wanted to murder Steve. What the hell were Zach & Ryan thinking.

My only complaint about the book was that it lingered in suffering and brief in rejoicing. Where's the hot make up sex?

Wow, Zach is an asshole. He cuts Ryan off without any discussion and disappears after a threesome gone wrong. But what pissed me off more was that Ryan was the one begging for forgiveness at the end, pathetically grateful to have Zach back instead of demanding explanations for why it was so easy for him to walk away. Next time, take your own advice, Zach, and say stop when you're uncomfortable instead of blaming what happens in the heat of the moment on your less experienced partner.

***Audiobook***Narrated by Narrated By Douglas Dale***I'm still undecided on this series, but I'll keep going... It looks like Steve's (Zach's ex) story is next and I was definitely *not* a fan of him, so book #3 may be a make it or break it for me.

Oh God, this book has everything I hate - and it's poorly edited. There's a few lines where the narrator jumps into first person POV and it's mad confusing and irritating. Additionally, like all POV all in the same paragraph is f*ing annoying.

And the undertone - for lack of a better word - racist remark about Luke being Brazilian b/c of his skin tone - like the author needs to really revaluate what they think is exotic. I'm married to a Brazilian, and Brazilians come in all shapes and skin colors and hair types... it was downright insulting to POC all around for Ryan to just think Luke was Brazilian (who was grieving a lost partner and just out of the blue wanted a FwB).

This author does not know a thing about relationships and does not even know how to write insta!attraction let alone insta!love and sex for that matter -- like you made a decision he wasn't going to fuck you but you let him slide inside you - this man who you have never had sex with -- and you don't even notice it? It's not like Ryan was drunk.

UGH… I am so frustrated with myself.

I was really looking forward to seeing more of Ryan and Zach as I grew to like them both so much while reading More Than Friends. This sequel did not disappoint.
Zach and Ryan have been together for several months now, both deliriously happy and deeply in love; they are each looking forward to a future together despite Ryan’s insecurities. Although Zach is wonderful to him and their sex life is amazing, he has yet to confess his love to Ryan or ask him to move in. These insecurities only intensify when he learns that Zach is still in touch with his ex-boyfriend, Steve. Zach has assured Ryan that they share a working relationship only, but Ryan can’t help feeling jealous and unsure. When Zach asks Ryan to accompany him on a business trip to Portland, he is both excited and terrified, knowing that Steve will be there as well.
Thoughts of Zach’s ex disappear from Ryan’s mind though when Zach surprises him with some very special gifts, a key to his apartment and a declaration of his love. But just as all of Ryan’s dreams seem to be coming true, Steve makes an appearance, introducing himself to Ryan while he waits for Zach to join him for lunch. Not wanting to be rude, he reluctantly accepts Steve’s invitation for them to join him that evening for dinner.
Although the evening starts out a little awkward for the couple, some alcohol consumption lightens the mood soon enough. It also lowers Ryan’s inhibitions and when Steve suggests that they enjoy a threesome, Ryan’s curiosity and arousal get the best of him. Zach reluctantly agrees, realizing that it would be unfair of him to deny Ryan an experience that he has enjoyed himself before they were together. Rules are established and promises are made but in the heat of the moment, those promises are broken. Will this experience break this couple for good or will they somehow find a way to forgive?
The author did an excellent and I mean excellent job in creating these two characters. Drunk in Love is full of emotion, heat, and heartache. This author has a remarkable talent for portraying honest and realistic characters that have natural human responses to every situation that they find themselves in. The sex scenes are brilliantly depicted, very hot yet ripe with feeling, as are the non-romantic scenes. Ms. Grace has made her way to the top of my favorite authors list!
A well-written, fast-paced read, Drunk in Love warmed my heart and then broke it...and then warmed it again…
Although I’m still pissed at Steve for the part that he played in this story, I have to admit that I’m anxious to learn more about him in the next installment in the series.
