In 1885 the winds of war were rising over the western plains. The Indians were starving to death on their reservations. The mixed-blood peoples were being swindled out of their ancestral lands. The corrupt Ottawa government would not hear their pleas. — In the eye of the storm stood Gabriel Dumont and his wife, Madelaine, leaders of the metis, the half-Indian culture of the plains. With them also stood Louis Riel, the mad visionary whose dreams for the future compounded the coming tragedy.
LORD OF THE PLAINS is a true story. The men and women in it actually lived and fought---and many died---for freedom.
