Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.
Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.
We love Biscuit! This little brown puppy will warm your heart as he loves to get involved in everything that his friend does. Today, they’re going outside to play in the snow. First, they must put on their snow clothes and even Biscuit has to put on a sweater to head outside. As all the children build a snowman, Biscuit helps and so does the dog. Next, they create snow angels or snow puppies in the snow. Time to go sledding before heading inside and warming up beside the fireplace. It was a fun-filled day! Woof, Woof!!
Such a cute, simple book that we read repeatedly. The colorful illustrations are action-packed, and the facial expressions set the tone for the book. 5 stars
Cute for the littlest children who need a a very simple story. The illustrations are adorable and bright and cheery, definitely the highlight of the book. Great for branching out and talking about snowy experiences a little child has had, or as winter approaches and they might be able to take part in sledding/snowman building/snowballs, etc for the first time.
This book is adorable for kids. I love it! It's perfect for kids learning about animal sounds and is a good steppingstone for learning to read fluently. I would keep this in my class library for a fun read.
My son loves biscuit. Any one of them and he finds to be very fun with all the woof woofs in them. Be sure to get a couple for the next baby shower you attend, Birthday, or just an anytime gift. My son is so in love with them I ordered 22 of them for his Easter basket but ended up giving them to him because I thought it would be cruel to hold out on him. So I got him some golden books for his basket.
Biscuit's Snowy Day is a cute seasonal book about the things that Biscuit and his owner do together on a snowy winter day. They build a snowman, go sledding, and then curl up by the fire for hot chocolate and treats. This book has a lot of sight words, and is great for beginning readers!
This is a story of a little girl and her puppy on a snowy day. They do the typical snow activities such as building a snowman and sledding. It is part of a series that is aimed at children ages 2 to 6.
In this Biscuit the puppy book. There is snow everywhere! The little girl and Biscuit go outside to play with their friends. Making snow angels, sledding, and making snowmen. All the fun things you can do in the snow and then finishing up with hot cocoa in front of a warm fire.
Of all the books I read my daughter today this is the only one she asked me to read again. Cute pictures of Biscuit playing in the snow and building a snowman.
This book is good for teaching toddlers about what happens in the winter. They also enjoy woofing, which Biscuit does at the end of every page. I like the pictures.
This is a cute board book for toddlers featuring Biscuit, an adorable puppy, enjoying snow activities with his girl. He gives a "Woof" on almost every page. Hooray for dogs!
Not my usual jam but it’s short and full of cute puppies and topical (what color is the sled? Where’s the carrot nose? How many puppies? Etc) so ideal bedtime fodder!
