Jill Brashear is a small-town girl with a kind heart and an abundance of sass. She writes contemporary romance that brings the heat and the laughter. If she’s not at her laptop writing the perfect book boyfriend, she can be found somewhere on the trails of North Carolina with her faithful dog companions.
(audiobook) It seriously wasn’t half bad, for the most part due to the narrators. But there were key elements in the story that were pretty good too.
Mia and Jay’s first meeting was cute and fun and sexy. With a little twist that we learn about way later in the book. They’re both like the embodiment of each other’s personal fantasies, and everything they shouldn’t want at the same time. They’re from different upbringings and opposite sides of the tracks. To fit with her family–at least in her mind–Mia needs a boring white collar guy, which Jay is anything but. And as a respected bodyguard, Jay should stay away from Mia when she becomes his client. Yet he can’t. Plus life keeps putting them in the same spaces. The battle between their hearts and desires, and their brains, got me.
There’s a small suspense element that becomes more important in the final act. The threat to Mia’s life is named and known, yet it stays in the shadows most of the time, with tiny thrilling scenes to keep the reader interested in that plot line. It’s also the reason why Jay is hired to keep her safe. And it brings intense few final chapters. The succession of events in that plot line could have been thought out better, as some part seem to come out of nowhere.
While Jay and Mia’s scenes together had everything a romance fan could want–banter, innuendo, sexual tension, revelations, and sometimes intimacy–their interactions with other characters were great too. I loved how protective Jay gets with Georges, half mentor, half big brother; Mia’s scenes with her boss were enlightening about their professional relationship, and helped her define her career goals in the end; they both have an interesting circle of friends, with some mutual too; and finally, Mia’s family offers positive and negative outlooks on her life, and fun moments with Jay. This is a character driven story with good characters for sure.
The narration was excellent. Both narrators brought the characters to life, and their voices work really well together. There’s some continuity between the point of views, which isn’t always a given. They make Jay and Mia’s story shine.

Regards, Mia by Jill Brashear is a delightful small-town bodyguard romance. I consumed this book in one sitting, hooked from the start. I love a strong and capable FMC, and Mia fits the bill. Jay, the MMC, is a tattooed, fighting-fit business owner with a tough past. Together, this couple has a great connection. With ample action and tasty tension, this book keeps you hooked.
The audiobook is narrated in dual by Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais. Samantha has such a great male voice that I can happily listen to her narrate all the characters. I can't fault her performance or how she makes me feel everything the characters feel. Connor never disappoints, and he always manages to draw me into the emotions of the characters he plays. His performance as Jay is no different. I also enjoy his female voice, and I can easily differentiate between the different characters. With this duo, dual is a plus.
I’d like to thank Home Cooked Books for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

But Jay’s past might be too much for them to overcome, and the threat to Mia’s life jeopardizes more than their fledgling romance.
💖 Review - I absolutely loved this novel. Jill's writing is brilliant. Mia and Jay's chemistry is very steamy. I loved the small town that the book is set in and the little community that they have, I would love to join the characters in their book club. I loved this cosy romance novel and I binged read it in a day. I highly recommend Regards, Mia and all of Jill's other books. I can't wait to read more by Jill. ❤️ Regards, Mia is released on 2nd April. 💓 Thank you to the author, Jill Brashear for my arc ebook copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
ALC provided by Home Cooked Books for an honest review.
NARRATION: 5 STARS STORY: 2.5 STARS OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 3.75 STARS mathematically (lol), but I just cannot round to 4 STARS.
NARRATION: Connor Crais & Samantha Brentmoor saved the day for me with their performances. They are both very talented narrators and their versatility showed in spades with this story. They’re ridiculously good on their own but as a team they are a powerhouse! I am delighted they were the two to bring this story to life! My ears are *heart eyes* for them both! :)
STORY: I’m not quite sure how to review this experience without coming across as if it was total loss, but I’m going to try. First, the plot, in my opinion, was solid. The sequence of events was well thought out, however, the execution of said events fell very short. Some of these events weren’t even fleshed out or even resolved, which left me feeling like they didn’t even belong in the story, and some circumstances just did not make any sense at all. As I mentioned, the sequence of events made complete sense, but inside those sequences there was a lot of ”but why tho?” and “wait, what now?” and “hmmmmmm” for me and it frustrated me to no end.
I’m not going to detail all the ways the story went wrong for me because that’s a lot of energy and time I’m not willing to give right now, but I will say this, as much as the story did not work for me, I want to learn more about the circle of friends, or rather the book club members, and their stories! They’re great people and because of Kindle Unlimited and Everand, I can binge their stories soon! :)
Regards, Mia By: Jill Brashear Narrated By: Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crias
Small town, bodyguard romance with a strong sassy heroine, sign me up. Jill Brashear’s Regards, Mia, is an angsty romance with a bit of suspense. Jill is a new to me author and I really enjoyed this book, It was a bonus that it was narrated in dual by Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais. This story was fun to listen to, with Samantha Brentmoor narrating Mia, a powerful defense attorney with a sassy/stubborn attitude. Mia was guarded, not letting anyone in and even when it seemed she was always on edge because of her past, she was content with her personal life. It wasn’t till Jay came into her life that she let her guard down. As her bodyguard Jay was there to protect her even when she acted like she didn’t want or need anyone. He brought her out of her shell, encouraging her to live in the moment and his sarcastic humor brought joy back into her life. Connor Crais nailed the narration of Jay, voicing his protectiveness while showing his vulnerable side when it came to Mia. Jay had many layers to him, owning a gym and being a role model to young kids while overcoming a tough past. When Mia first met Jay she judged him but as time goes by she realizes that everyone has a story and you can’t always judge a book by the cover.

(Want to understand my rating scale? Click here to see my post on IG where I break it down!)
I am a sucker for a fake dating trope, and this ticked all the boxes. I won’t recap the story too much here, but it is well-written and the pace felt just right. I loved Jay from the get-go and Mia’s character arch was truly so much fun to listen to, you could feel her mind shifting and growing as the book went on, her world becoming less black-and-white as she started to see the shades of grey that exist in real life.
Both narrators are already on my favourites list, and this book is a really great example of why. Samantha’s character is written to have a slight Southern accent, which she nails the whole way through. I also liked that it wasn’t too thick for me (as an Australian) to be pulled out of the story by an unfamiliar accent - it was a really good balance. This accent carried through to when Connor picked up the mic, continuing Mia’s character flawlessly, I don’t know if this was good prep on his side, or production’s, but it really adds to the overall (and already high) quality of this book. Both actors kicked this out of the park, as always.
The drama and plot twist did a great job of being both predictable AND twisty. This is hard to explain without spo!lers, but when you read it you will understand what I mean when I say that Jill absolutely nailed having me so sure that I knew what the big climax would be, and then taking a sharp left and surprising me in the best way possible.
If you like your small-town romance to have a bit of big-city drama and suspense, coupled with incredible narration? This book is for you!

If you are a fan of author like Catherine Cowles or Melanie Harlow, you won't want to miss the fourth book in the "Blue Ridge Book Club" series. Regards, Mia is the fake relationship, opposites attract love story between District Attorney Mia James and the tall, dark, and dangerous gym owner Jay. When Mia's life and safety are threatened by a criminal on the loose the last thing she expected was for her recent one-night stand to be the man to save her. But when the sparks begin to fly, the line between duty and desire gets crossed.
Regards, Mia is narrated by the amazing team Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais. This narrating duo is something special and together they make magic. They each are amazing on their own but put them together and they are a powerhouse team. Brentmoor's southern twang is impeccable. While Mia is already a viper in the courtroom already, Samantha gives her a whole new edge to her. The way she breaths life into all of facets of Mia's personality and fears, absolute perfection. When it comes to Mr. Crais, he perfectly complements Brentmoor. His take on Mia's southern lilt was spot on. Crais's character is a complex person with lots of layers. Connor brings all of those layers to life spectacularly, from his protect nature to his hidden vulnerable side, from owning his past mistakes and yet being a role model for the kids that come into his gym. I love these two together and can't wait for the next story they narrate.
I really enjoyed this one. Jill Brashear is a new to me author. I liked her writing style and loved the character development. I was a gifted an audio ALC of this and it's amazing! Performed in dual style narration by Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor. They were perfect as Jay and Mia. Connor portrayed Jay's protectiveness. Samantha portrayed Mia as a strong attorney that fought back and who was very independent. Also I loved Samantha's southern accent, it matched the character's voice in my head. Together they brought these characters to life.
Mia's life is in stakes after a criminal is on the loose. She didn't expect the guy she had a one night stand with to be the one to protect her. Enter Jay, the bodyguard. Jay isn't thrilled, but needs the money to fund his charity project. As they spend more time together lines begin to blur.
If you're a fan of small towns, bodyguard romance and force proximity. Check this out! Highly recommend!
Thank you to @homecookedbookspromos for my audio ALC in exchange for an honest review.
District Attorney Mia meets a mysterious guy on a motorcycle, Jay while she's on her way to a date with a guy she could care less about. After a steamy night they she leaves expecting to never see him again, but when her boss hires private security for her during a dangerous case, her and Jay are reunited again with some unfinished business.
A BODYGUARD ROMANCE. One of my favorite tropes. This book was a nice surprise! A short, perfect pallet cleanser. Mia and Jay were the perfect pair and this book didn't lack plot despite being on the shorter side. Who doesn't love a fake dating bodyguard romance?
I was so happy to be apart of the ARC team for this!
I was sent a free book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
This was my first Jill Brashear book and I’m happy to say it won’t be my last. I enjoyed the meet cute, the banter, the tension 😏, and that there was a touch of suspense. All things I enjoy in a book! I’m so happy that I was able to ALC this audiobook!
Mia is a no nonsense attorney who is a badass. She gets the job done, though her boss thinks that he needs to look out for her. Mia can take care of herself, thank you very much. She is sassy and sweet. There is something in her past that has driven her to where she is. It is also keeping her from seeing herself with someone in the future.
Jay isn’t what he seems to be. Tall, tatted, muscular, and a motorcycle riding ex-con. There is more to him than meets the eye. When he and Mia meet, she judges him without knowing what brought him to this point in his life. He is enthralled by her, but can the two of them see past the past in order to see what could be the future in front of them?
These two characters had such great chemistry. Legitimately from the first meeting in chapter one I had a smile on my face while listening to them. We all need a Jay, and I wish I could be more like Mia. She’s genuinely a badass. I wasn’t lying! I love to see female characters with a backbone; one’s that overcome the unjust BS life has thrown at them.
Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais are such a dynamic duo. I wish I could meet them and give them high fives for bringing such joy to my ears and my heart. Seriously. Two of the absolute best and most skilled humans out there! If you haven’t listened to them narrate, what are you even doing with your life!? 😂🥰😂
👠“I’m a sucker for a strong confident sh!t-talking woman. Some may call them b**ches or ice queens, but I call them just my type.” 👠“Don’t worry, I plan on f***ing you. After I make you c**e a few more times.” 👠“There’s something I’ve been dying to do for weeks.” “What?” “Taste you.” 👠“You’re my girl. All mine.”
This was an angsty story. Mia is not the most likable main character, she’s a little judgmental and stubborn. Jay is an absolute beast and a total sweetheart! I adore him from the beginning. Mia did grow on me, and I to some extent understand why she is so judgmental at the beginning. This was such an angsty romance, full of emotions, adrenaline & passion.
Samantha Brentmoor did an absolutely phenomenal job bringing out all of the facets of Mia. Connor Crais makes Jay that much more lovable, he does such a wonderful job bringing his character to life.
Regards, Mia by Jill Brashear is book 4 in the Blue Ridge Book Club series. A forced proximity, opposites attract, strangers to lovers, he falls first, fake relationship romance, with suspense, chemistry and enough twist and turns to keep a reader interested. The narration of the book by Connor Crais and Samatha Brentmoor was the perfect combination to bring Jay and Mia's characters to life. Connor gave a great balance of the strong protectiveness of Jay, as well as the vulnerable honesty. Samantha gave just the right amount of southern charm to Mia, along with her whit, strength, and vulnerability. The combination of Jill Brashear's words and Connor and Samantha's portrayal of the characters was pure perfection.
FMC Mia is an attorney that works for the District Attorney's office. Life for her has always been very black and white when it comes to criminals. Due her past and stress of her current job, Mia likes her men uncomplicated, blue collar and predictable. Yes, it may be safe and potentially boring, but it means no drama and no danger. When another one of Mia's dates is a snooze fest, Mia ducks out to take a call and is quickly distracted by a man on a motorcycle, Jay. Completely the opposite of anyone she'd ever consider dating, Mia barely gives him the time of day. When they walk into the restaurant to her date, Jay announces that the woman at the table is his date. One thing leads to another and quickly it ends up just Jay and Mia at the table. Mia decides to throw caution to the wind due to the attraction she feels for Jay, but quickly changes her mind when she gets a peek at his tattoos and quickly runs the other way. It's no big deal right, it's not like she'll ever see him again. MMC Jay, owns a gym and runs a program at the gym that helps the local youth find a better path in life. He might have spent time in jail, but that doesn't define him. When he gets a call about taking on a personal security job, he's quick to blow it off until he hears it's for Mia and he knows he'd trust no one else to protect her but him. Mia and Jay are now thrown together, but Mia is concerned if people find out he's her bodyguard it will make her look weak, so Jay decides to tell people he's her boyfriend instead. Will Mia learn that not everything in life is so black and white and hear out Jay's side of the story about his past? Will Jay be able to convince Mia that there is more to him then what she sees and that all that really matters is how they feel and no one else? Read Regards, Mia and find out if Jay not only saves the day, but wins Mia's heart.
Wow, this was my first book by Jill Brashear and this was such an entertaining listen! The storyline hooked me right in with a flirty conversation between a tattooed biker and a strong prosecuting lawyer. They are about to spend one night together…until she finds out he was in prison before. Things take another turn when something causes him to be assigned as her bodyguard. There is angst, tension and banter between them while also dealing with suspense throughout the whole story! Overall, the audiobook casting is what drew me into this book as Connor Crais & Samantha Brentmoor are my favorite narrating duo but I completely stayed for the fantastic plot that kept me completely captured into the story! I already cannot wait to listen to the other books in this series now!
🏘Small Town 💪Bodyguard 🔥Enemies to Lovers 🥰He Falls First 🤫Fake Dating
🎧AUDIO REVIEW: This story on audio was just an outstanding listen!! It’s no secret I LOVE Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor narrating together but what made this casting even better was how well they both fit exactly who you’d imagine for these characters! Samantha brought out Mia’s feisty and independent personality while also adding a southern accent to her voice that was so well done. Then Connor would also use a southern accent when he was speaking as Mia during Jay’s chapters. This small detail made the story flow so seamlessly as you continued to get that southern accent for Mia throughout the whole entire book! Loved that attention to detail!!! Connor also brought all the protective alpha male vibes of Jay to life with his deep and gruff sexy tone that just completely embodies a biker. If you have never listened to him narrate, you’re seriously missing out! Overall, the fantastic performance combined with an alluring storyline, made this audiobook such an enjoyable listen!!
When she was in college, Mia was attacked, but no one believed her. As a result, she decided to attend law school and become a prosecutor.
She's now a DA in Mossy Oak. She's on a date when her boss calls to tell her the suspect in a rape case was released on a technicality. The man, Warner Mattson, is from a very prominent family. His accuser was found to be unreliable because of her past criminal activity.
She had stepped outside to take the call and then had a cigarette before getting ready to go back inside. As she's ready to go back inside, she meets Jay Sanchez, the local owner of a boxing gym. He's there for a blind date. When they enter, they find that their dates dumped them and left.
Mia and Jay are drawn to each other despite their differences. She comes from a wealthy family of overachievers. He grew up dirt poor in a family with an abusive father. She believes once a criminal always a criminal. He spent time in prison and was determined to never go back.
Besides the gym, Jay also owns a security service. When threats are made against Mia, her boss hires Jay to be her bodyguard. He's upset with the way she's treated him, but he needs the money for the kids program at his gym, so he agrees to protect her. Mia and Jay decide to become a fake couple so they have a reason to be together. Since she only dates safe, predictable white-collar professionals, it's going to be difficult for her family to be convinced she's now dating a biker with long hair and tattoos who's a former boxer and current gym owner. But she's in for a big surprise!
Will Mia ever come to believe that sometimes good people do bad things while trying to protect loved ones? Or will she remain convinced that once a criminal always a criminal?

Regards, Mia is the 4th book in the Blue Ridge Book Club series by Jill Brashear. It can easily be read as a standalone. It was my first time reading a book by Jill Brashear, and I didn’t feel like I was missing any information. Although I loved this book so much, I will be going back and listening to the other books in this series.
Mia is a strong, confident, independent District Attorney. She has put so much of her life into her career that it left her little time for her love life. Jay is a tall and tatted gym owner, who rides a Harley and has a criminal background. When the two meet they have instant chemistry, but when Mia finds out about Jay’s criminal past, she is quick to judge him and put a stop to any potential relationship they could have, despite her attraction to him.
After a threat to Mia’s life, her boss hires a body guard for her and the best in the business is none other than Jay. Jay is hesitant to take the job, he is still upset with the way Mia judged him, but he knows he couldn’t forgive himself if something happens to Mia.
I really enjoyed this book! Jay was just such a perfect book boyfriend. I loved Mia’s strong personality and really enjoyed her character development. She went from judgemental and almost rude, to understanding and realizing that not everything is black and white.
The audio was fabulous. Regards, Mia is narrated in dual style by Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor. This was my first time listening to Connor Crais in a dual narrated book. He was great! His female voice was smooth and easy to listen to. I know a lot of times with dual narration it can be hard to listen to the narrator voice the opposite sex, but both Samantha and Connor did a great job voicing the opposite sex. Samantha’s southern, small-town accent was also perfect! They did a great job bringing this book to life.
🎧Audio Review🎧 Narrated by Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais
Oh, be still my heart… Jay is a swoony, sexy, tatted motorcycle riding ex-con. He had me from the moment he stepped on the page and falls for Mia from the get go. Mia, an attorney, is quite guarded and is keeping her distance. They are brought together again when Mia needs a bodyguard and Jay takes the job. This forced proximity, fake relationship has a deeper layer of tension as Mia is uncomfortable being seen with him in front of her family. They won’t like the fact he’s got tats and is an ex-con. Mia being embarrassed to be seen with him adds great tension. It’s also a bit uncomfortable to read the judgment she has about him but that’s actually a very real thing I could see happening in real life and I liked that Brashear makes that a key growth aspect that Mia needs to push through and learn. The suspense aspect of the story is minor but is still a valid part of the plot that moves the story along and adds depth to the characters. The sexual tension is palpable and really jumps off the page.
Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor is a narration pairing that is one of my favorites. Samantha bridges that complex combination of Mia’s cool lawyer side and the vulnerable one she hides deep inside. I love her male voice. Connor has embodied Jay in such a strong way, bringing life to so many layers to this deep soul. Both are so amazing.
I always look forward to each of these books in the Blue Ridge Book Club. Jill Brashear writes smart engaging stories. And this 4.5 star listen is one I will be coming back to again.
I received an advanced copy from Home Cooked Books. All opinions are my own.
Though I enjoyed the MCs and returning to Mossy Oak in Brashear’s fourth Blue Ridge Book Club entry, the plot wasn’t always my favorite. The performances of Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor went a long way to smoothing over most of my frustration, but there was some uneven trope execution. For instance, the bodyguard subplot was less compelling to me than the coming from different worlds aspect of Mia and Jay’s relationship. I always enjoy seeing how MCs will “make it work” and those were the bits I enjoyed best. That aspect of the story revealed more to me about Mia and Ja,y’s characters than the motivation for the bodyguard thread. I also enjoyed how and when the book club popped in and wished there’d been more of that, but get how that might have gotten in the way. I just can’t help longing for interactions between recurring secondaries and MCs because they so often add something special, and that is definitely the case with this and other Blue Ridge books. So overall, I preferred the small town vibes of the story rather than the bodyguard angle.
As always,, Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor were awesome, and they helped me appreciate the characters even at points when the plot did not. I feel like I always gush about a Brentmoor, but I can’t help it, she’s that good. I have yet to hear her give a less than spectacular performance. And is a fine match for her talents. His performance brings even more appeal to an already fine character.
Recommended for the book club vibes and stellar narration.
I received an ALC copy of the audiobook via Home Cooked Books. All opinions are my own.
“My heart slams, crashing hard against her palm. She’s all fire, wrapped up in a petite package I’m dying to open.”
Regards, Mia by Jill Brashear is a bodyguard, close proximity, opposites attract romance. Sign me up for all the swoony, Southern, small-town romantic suspense. Mia is a driven, relentless, bombshell attorney who’s known as a bit of an ice queen. Jay Sanchez is a former boxing champion who focuses his time training young boxers at his gym. A chance meeting leads to a sizzling hot night until the ice queen cools things down and runs. When Mia’s life is threatened, her boss calls in the best security in town…and Mia and Jay’s paths cross again. I loved the chemistry between Jay and Mia; their oil and water, opposites-attract energy was electric. I liked the thrown-together and bodyguard/protectee premises but was eager for more suspense. I hoped the stakes were a little higher regarding the suspense plotline, but I enjoyed Mia’s fierce independence! The clever, flirty banter is on point in Regards, Mia.
Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais were fantastic in their performances of Mia and Jay. I now have two Samantha accents battling for favorite; my earholes cannot decide! The second I pressed play I knew I was in for a treat with Southern Samantha. She portrayed the brassy, no-nonsense, bighearted Mia beautifully. Connor is all kinds of smooth as the arrogant, kind, charismatic Jay. Samantha and Connor brought this hot AF duo off the page with unforgettable performances.
🎧 Audio Review🎧 ALC provided by Home Cooked Books and Jill Brashear.
This was a really awesome quintessential small town romance with a little bit of suspense thrown in to spice things up. Mia and Jay had pretty instant chemistry from the moment they laid eyes on each other. It was definitely more of a "He falls first, and harder" situation, as Mia does everything in her power to crush Jay's hopes of being with her.
While I loved Jay as a book boyfriend, he was kind hearted, protective, patient, and so many more excellent qualities - I just wish he had a little more backbone when it came to how he allowed Mia to treat him.
Mia, on the other hand, was very much an ice queen trying to throw up walls so no one could see the pain she'd been carrying inside. I get that she had unresolved trauma she was still trying to deal with. What I couldn't appreciate was how she was downright cruel to Jay at times. She would often play mind games where, in one moment she was asking him to trust her during an intimate experience, and the next moment she's back to dismissing his feelings and letting him know she's embarrassed by him. It wasn't fair.
The suspense aspect wasn't a huge focus in the story, but it played a part to get the MCs in close proximity. I did like how things were handled with that situation in the end. I also really loved the book club members! I will definitely have to go back and read their stories, but this was truly a standalone as I didn't feel lost because there were important chunks missing from the rest of the series.
Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais were a fantastic team. Samantha played Mia’s cold and callous tone very well in addition to the moments when her walls were coming down. Connor, fans face, had the dreamiest tone in his voice when he'd get that deeper "I want you" tone 🥵. Their pacing as always was perfect, I never felt like I needed to alter the playback speed.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and hope to return very soon!
(Audio Review) After both of their dates ditched them for each other, Mia and Jay notice their own strong connection towards each other and have a fun date. This leads to an almost one-night stand where Mia ends up rejecting Jay and they don’t expect to ever see each other again.
Mia, who is a District Attorney, finds herself in trouble when a criminal from her past, on the loose, puts her life at stake and she needs protecting. She’s forced to accept the bodyguard her boss hires. The last thing she expects is for her protector to be the tall, dark, and tatted Jay, the very man she cruelly rejected. Jay, meanwhile, isn’t so thrilled to take on the job after the way Mia treated him, but he needs to money to keep his charity project alive.
I really enjoyed this one. I loved how we got to see the sparks fly between the pair, even with the looming danger ahead. Also, even though Jay’s past seemed too much for Mia to get over at first, I loved how that plotline was handled. And how Mia came to see the nuances of life, and that everything and every situation isn’t so black and white. I also really loved Jay; he was my fav! 💕 The way he was described was just chef’s kiss! 🤌 💋 Plus, I really loved how he treated Mia and how protective he was.
Overall, the book flowed very well and was a nice mix of romance and suspense. It also had the right amount of spice, banter, as well as seriousness.
Narrated by Samantha Brentmoor & Connor Crais, both did a fantastic job! They worked well with each other. They also portrayed the characters well, bringing Mia and Jay, the emotions, the banter, and all that was required in this story to life. I Loved the listening experience!
I received a complimentary ALC from Home Cooked Books and all opinions are my own.
I’m a sucker for small-town southern romances and Regards, Mia by Jill Brashear did not disappoint! Mia and Jay’s romance had the perfect touch of suspense, spice, and swoon, so I loved every bit of their journey to find their very own HEA. Jill’s memorable characters sure did make this Carolina girl’s heart oh so happy.
Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais perform this audiobook in dual narration. #craismoor is one of my favorite narrator pairings, and both were a great match for Mia and Jay. Samantha’s soft southern dialect added the perfect touch of spitfire and grace to Mia’s independent and dedicated persona. Connor’s warm inviting tone contrasted yet complimented Jay’s rough exterior versus his protective, irresistible cinnamon roll interior demeanor. Plus, the undeniable attraction and chemistry were HOT right from the start between Jay and Mia.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. If you a fan of a small-town romance with a hot tattooed leather jacket-wearing bodyguard, a sassy, brave district attorney, an almost one-night stand, Mossy Oak, book clubs, fake dating, criminal on the loose, close proximity, overprotective bosses, vacation spice, dangerous threats, motorcycle rides, more steamy times, and a HEA that will simply hug your heart, then you will love Mia and Jay’s story. I look forward to more from Jill Brashear.
Regards, Mia Blue Ridge Book, Club 4 By: Jill Brashear Narrated by: Connor Crais, Samantha Brentmoor
Do you love bad boys? Then Jay is the one for you! Tattooed, protective and that air of danger, he has caught the eye of the district attorney, Mia. One night of passion, and off the charts chemistry has them both reeling. But the Jay's past is keeping Mia from pursuing any further. When she is threatened by a criminal she put in jail, she is given a bodyguard, and who better to hire, but security of Jay. Will these two be able to fight the feelings they have? Will Jay be able to keep her safe? And what of his past? This book by Jill Brashear is fantastic. Not only is the character development amazing, but the story itself is wonderful. Never judge a person until you have walked in their shoes. Mia is a tough cookie, that is for sure, but she is opening her mind and realizing things aren't always as they appear. Jay is finding out that there may just be a woman out there for him. This is a fantastic listen.
In dual narration by Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor, I knew I was in for a treat. This team performs so well together. Crais has that air of danger surrounding him as Jay, but at the same time, his warm baritone is like a hug surrounding Mia. Brentmoor portrays Mia as the strong woman she is, but easily pulls out her vulnerability. A fantastic performance given and it was hours of entertainment!
The audiobook readers, Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais, are nothing short of perfection. I have heard them both before, and they make any book sound better than it is. They are the only reason I finished this book.
This is my first and last time with this author. I like strong female characters. And I think Mia was a relatively strong character, but she was is supposedly an excellent prosecutor but nothing she said or did showed that she was. In the first chapter, she makes a snap judgment about the MMC, because he has a prison tattoo. He offers to explain and she doesn't want to hear it. She's so beyond worried that someone in her family is going to see this prison tattoo that she makes him wear long sleeve shirts everywhere. I don't understand either one of the characters being so embarrassed about that. Mia came from a very loving family and there's no reason to expect that she would be shunned for a tattoo and quite frankly I don't know how many people know what a prison tattoo is.
In addition, she asked a witness to do something that should have gotten her disbarred. Pretty much every single action she took made me wonder how she got into her 30s by being this stupid. Finally, there is a young boy who the MMC takes under his wing and towards the end of the book something big happens and we find out nothing about that. No more information about the boy at all. It was just not a good book. But again, the readers were absolutely perfection.
Regards, Mia was an engaging, bodyguard romance that was a delight for my ears. Mia and Jay are complete opposites, but they have an undeniable attraction. Their push and pull dynamic kept me interested in the development of their relationship and their snarky banter and smoking chemistry kept me on the edge of my seat.
Jay was an interesting complex character with a checkered past and a kind heart while Mia was a bit snobby and judgmental at first which made her hard to like, but once she let Jay slip past her defenses, we saw her soft heart. These two complemented one another beautifully and had more in common than they first thought.
The audio was narrated by Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais. I always love anything these two narrate and this was no exception. Samantha infused a bit of a southern accent and a lot of feeling into her performance of Mia. Connor was perfection as Jay. His growly voice fit the character of Jay and he made me feel for the character. These two turned in a dynamic performance that helps the listener lose themselves in the story. Full of suspense, steam and emotion, Regards, Mia was a fun, quick listen with an enjoyable story and interesting characters.
Thank you to @homecookedbookspromos for the audio ALC for an honest review.
Jill Brashear delivers in Regards, Mia. This was a well-written small-town romance with heart and intrigue.
When Mia and Jay meet, their attraction is instant, but Mia has some serious reservations about Jay, and Jay tries to keep his distance based on her reaction to him. Jay is an ex-convict with a heart of gold, but it takes Mia, a district attorney, a while to open up to the possibility of finding love with someone with a record based not only on her profession, but also based on her personal experiences.
Mia is a strong-willed, determined, independent woman, so when she finds herself on the receiving end of threats of harm, the last thing she wants is a bodyguard. And frankly, the last person Jay wants to provide with close bodyguard services is Mia because he's so attracted to her, and she clearly does not consider him "good husband material." But through his protection services, they get the time to really get to know each other, and build a friendship and trust that provides them with a much better foundation in the long run.
The audiobook, narrated by Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais, is such an easy, engaging, enjoyable listen. These are two of the most talented narrators in the industry, and they always deliver stellar performances.
This was such a delight to listen to!! It is my first 𝙹𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝙱𝚛𝚊𝚜𝚑𝚎𝚊𝚛 novel and it's not going to be my last. It's a small town, bodyguard romance and I was there for it!
I loved falling for these beautifully chiseled characters! Mia is a district attorney, having issues from a past case, and her boss feels the need to step in, even though Mia is very capable of taking care of herself. Enter Jay, the hot, tattooed motorcycle rider. He also happens to be the one night stand that Mia had and now.....the big guy is tasked with being her bodyguard.
Together, these two are amazing! They have plenty of sizzling chemistry between them. I loved the heat and the fun banter between them! I fell hard for Jay and he stole my heart forever! Their meet cute was fun and I just couldn't get enough!
𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑟 𝐶𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑠. *swoon.* That man does a fantabulous job at bringing the characters to life! He seamlessly flows between male and female characters, nails accents beautifully, and truly brought Jay to life! Coupled with the talented 𝑆𝑎𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑡ℎ𝑎 𝐵𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑚𝑜𝑜𝑟, who also has a captivating voice, Jay & Mia truly became more than just characters in a book for me. These narrators did a wonderful job at this dual narration!
I know that I can't wait to go back and listen to more of 𝙹𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝙱𝚛𝚊𝚜𝚑𝚎𝚊𝚛'𝚜 work in the future. 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔, 𝑴𝒊𝒂 has made me a fan!
I received this book for a ALC Review. Samantha Brentmoor & Connor Crais just might be my next favorite pairing. Samantha is my go to narrator and I just recently discovered Connor. I thought they played well off each other. Samantha & Connor did a wonderful job with Mia & Jay. They brought the banter, the spice and the emotions. This was a dual narration. Samantha’s male voice is one of the best and this a first dual for me with Connor and I thought his female voice was spot on. Mia & Jay meet and have a one night stand. Just when you think they will never see each other again, Mia, who is a district attorney, finds herself in trouble and Jay comes in and protects her. I was annoyed with Mia at times and I didn’t like how she treated Jay who I just loved. This is my first time reading one of Jill’s books. I loved how this book just flowed. With the love story and the suspense, the story moved and wasn’t overwhelming at all. The length was perfect. Wasn’t rushed but also didn’t drag out either. Overall I really enjoyed this book and it just had the right amount of spice banter & suspense I needed. This is the fourth book in the series and I look forward to check out the first three books.
I really enjoyed this fake relationship, bodyguard romance. After a horrifying incident happened to her in college, Mia changed her major to become a prosecuting lawyer. She is working too much, without much time for a social life. When out on a boring date, she meets tattooed stranger and the sparks fly between them. But he is also the kind of man she prosecutes, so she needed to walk away. Now her life is in danger and her boss hired a bodyguard to keep her safe. That bodyguard is Jay, the dark and dangerous man she can't forget. Jay owns a boxing gym, but he also includes young kids, giving them a safe place off the streets. He is attracted to the beautiful spitfire, who wants to take care of herself. To explain his presence in her life, they say they are dating. They both have preconceived ideas on who the other is, but the more time they spend together, the more they fall for each other. But when the threat gets suddenly closer, will Jay be able to keep her safe before they lose each other for good? This is a thrilling, suspenseful, and steamy romance. Jay and Mia are opposites who are perfect for each other. They challenge each other, are each other's safe place, and their chemistry is off the charts! Connor Crais, and Samantha Brentmoor are two of my favorite narrators. They are the perfect storytellers to bring these compelling characters, and this gripping story to life. They picked the perfect tone, and easily delivered all the emotion, and heart pounding suspense, making this story even more captivating.
Audiobook review: Narrated by Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor
4 stars for story / 5 stars for performance
This is my first Jill Brashear book and I was highly impressed with the story. I love a protective MMC and it doesn't get more alpha than an ex-con, motorcycle-riding, security firm owning, bodyguard. Mia is a straight laced lawyer working with the district attorney but she meets her match in Jay. This is a really good story with a good amount of suspense along with a interesting romance that blooms in the midst. I love Mia's family and the backstory provides a good deal of understanding when it comes to Mia and her insecurities. The drama unfolds in an unexpected way and it was refreshing to be surprised by the outcome in this story.
The narration on this one was so well done. Connor Crais has the PERFECT voice for an alpha male MC and he performed this one beautifully. Samantha Brentmoor, in my mind, can do no wrong. She has such an angelic voice and brings so much emotion and personality to her characters that it's easy to get lost in the story. I devoured this one in one day in large part thanks to the narrators and how easy it was to listen to them bring this story to life.

Yes if… You love a tattooed, motorcycle-riding mmc with a true north moral compass despite a tragic backstory and a prison record.
You like a story that moves along at a solid clip without putting a ton of emphasis on literary devices.
You like your romance books with a suspense-adjacent plot beyond the relationship.
No if… You’re frustrated by a fmc who is too stubborn and struggles with deep self confidence issues, trying to prove herself in ways that aren’t true to herself.
You don’t like a trope mash-up. (Meet cute, bodyguard, force proximity, keep bumping into each other, fake dating)
Narrator rating: 3.5⭐️. Loved Samantha’s coastal Carolina accent. Her voice was a great match for petite but fierce Mia and she delivered. Connor was very good; the text describes the MMC voice as a baritone, which Connor’s is not so that was a mismatch for me. I also would have loved some more variance in his delivery. He wasn’t flat but there wasn’t much variety either.
