I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love Patty Lyons' Knitting Bag of Tricks: Over 70 sanity saving hacks for better knitting, it is a really useful book and it is also quite beautiful to look at. And I love the idea of a workbook paired with it! And what's even better is that the workbook is pretty useful too! It is a great way to implement the "main book", it is full of exercises that will help you understand knitting, both in general and your own personal way of doing it, way better. And understanding what you are doing is key in knitting. The explanations are always neat, clear, and easy to follow. I also loved that we have the space to put pictures of our works and that we have a nice way of taking notes. I really recommend it to anyone who already has the main book! (And even to those that don't already have it!). It is a great tool to have!
The Official Workbook is a great addition to this series. The first book doesn't have a lot of room for adding your own notes or working out maths. The workbook has lots of space for writing down observations, recording your needle stash, and places to tape in pictures of your swatches. There's also lots of exercises to help you practice the techniques in Knitting Bag of Tricks. It's such a valuable workbook for really practicing and becoming comfortable with all of Patty Lyons' hacks. That being said, you need the Knitting Bag of Tricks book for the workbook to make sense.
This is not only adorable, it is also super helpful. I have read through the book, but have not done an exercise or lesson yet. Packed with information, stickers, and pages for you to track your progress, projects and other things you might want to note. You may color in it as well, in fact it is encouraged as you work through the lessons. A companion to "Knitting Bag of Tips and Tricks", you absolutely should use them together as she references that book throughout this work book. Recommended for knitters of all skill levels. I can't image an easier or more entertaining "teach yourself" book, except maybe Knitting for Dummues, which is easy, but not half as fun.
