When you’re screwed anyway, hope for the best and get what you can.

Kidnapping the son of one of the mob leaders isn’t easy, and when said son happens to be a werewolf’s mate, it’s bound to get messy.

3 1/2- 4 stars!

I will also admit I am not somebody who gets all excited over werewolf books. I can’t even say I understand why I feel that way? So for me this was a whole new experience.

To me this novella was the perfect length to reel me in and it certainly made me want to read more in the series. I loved the fact that even though it was a paranormal book (werewolves) there was no lengthy drawn out world building which easily confuses me and puts me off reading books from this genre.
The characters were developed well enough for what you expect in a novella length piece of writing, in fact I thought it was done very well as I certainly wanted to know more about them by the end. I loved Jex and Matt and they fit well together. I will admit my love for Jex did have something to do with his love for rough sex! Yes however silly a reason I am happy to admit it lol! It certainly fits well with him having a wild ravaging werewolf as a mate. I also loved Matt and his untameable passion to protect what he sees as HIS and HIS ALONE!!! Just thinking about it makes me want to growl hahahaha!

At times I was a little lost in the dialogue especially when the gang was on the scene. It may have been because it was all from Jex’s point of view and as he didn’t know them all by name he had to refer to them by descriptions, which isn’t as easy to follow in my opinion. Also the mention of diarrhoea was as it said in the book kind of a mood killer, especially at the time it was mentioned lol!

OMG the sex scene was scorching hot and was as I would expect when a werewolf is involved, primal, wild and full of heated passion. When Jex asked Matt to put fingers in him OMG I was about to combust!!! Hahaha!

So all in all a good start to the series I eagerly await the next one!!

Couple spoilers.....

First off, I didn't realise that this novella was one of those books that ends on a cliff hanger right in the middle of the story (I absolutely hate those). Second, once again I didn't know it was a New Adult story. I usually try to avoid those cause I don't care to read about teenagers (that's just my opinion, don't shoot me!). I just didn't feel the story it actually kinda made my skin crawl at certain times. Getting off while the werewolf is killing dudes and talking about a sudo-rape fantasy? Not my cuppa. Comparing diarrhea and leaking cum? Freaking nasty. Definitely won't be checking out anymore in this series.

Was this book edited? The premise, friends to lovers, fated mates, son of a mob man had great potential. There was even a hint of something different with how the werewolf and his mate shared physical trauma that was intriguing. But I can't help but feel the publisher just shoved this short story out there without proper editing and it's quite a shame.

There were whole paragraphs that were confusing. And if a reader skimmed the story instead of reading the story then it could easily be missed.

"Jex had always had this problem, and he wasn’t sure why that was, but fear turned him on. He’d realised this with his first real crush—Dutch, who wasn’t that big of a man, though taller than Jex by a few inches, and who happened to have been only fourteen years old at the time. Yet, the chap stood still, and fear rolled off him. It had taken a long time, even after he learnt that the guy was a hired killer and worked for his dad, but still it was something more than the person.”

So the hired killer was fourteen? Who is the chap? Dutch the killer? The word "it" was used too often, bypassing a description, and sometimes it wasn't immediately evident what was being talked about.

Sometimes it doesn't make sense, as if there is a missing word or something.

"their tone seemingly free of anything”

Names were given for some of the kidnappers that wasn't used. Instead, physical descriptions were used as names causing the fighting and the dialogue to be a confusing mess.

If the was a self published work I would assume the story wasn't edited. But this came through an established, well-known publisher and they did this author a disservice. I hope Ms. Heeley continues, but with a credible editor and different publisher.

Since I read almost every paranormal M/M book that is published, I was excited to see a new author from eXtasy Books, which is my go-to company for my shifter fix. However, Loved By A Werewolf just wasn’t my cup of tea.

From the cover, you’d never be able to tell this is a Young Adult novella, not a traditional M/M book. That was my first surprise, but since I’m an avid fan of the television show, Teen Wolf, that did not deter me. What did drag my rating down was the lack of editing, the weird plot which at times did not make a lick of sense and the constant internal dialogue which threw me out of the story multiple times.

Also, the writing was disjointed and confusing. The plot derailed about half way in (werewolf kills people and his love interest is turned on and excited by this, which was creepy to say the least). Add in the ending, which just ended and offered no real resolution except a “to be continued” note. So, this short novella did not hold my interest and sadly, I cannot recommend it.

Did I really just read that rape = okay because he's gay and would 'probably enjoy it'?

Did I really just read that cum in your ass is the same as diarrhea and pissing out of your ass?

Just to clarify, it takes A LOT for me to give a 1 Star and I'm (not) sorry to say that this one is from me. My first comment on the rape did it for me. I finished it, but I should have just stopped at that point. Luckily it was short.

I'm having conflicted feelings towards this book.
It's not bad, definitely not the worst book I've read this week but... I wanted more. I'll have to wait till the next one to be certain that i like it.

My Rating: 3.5 Stars

Series Overall Rating: 4 of 5 Stars

The Moonlit Wolves series is about this group of werewolves who banded together for one reason or another. The most common element between this band of wolves is that they need to be together to keep themselves strong, healthy, alive and be with their mates. Thing is, when they got together, they really did not know the hows and whys of their being werewolves. They knew some of the stuff but a manual they did not have. They needed someone to tell them what they are, how they function as a species, and survive the world that is increasingly becoming more violent and dangerous for their young pack.

This is a series written much like a manga would be. It is quite graphic in terms of violence and could be a bit offbeat at times. Taken as a whole, however, it coheres quite nicely and the story arc becomes more solid. This is where I warn the readers: this series of books should be read one right after the other. Although book one may be a standalone, going into books two and three would be a bit confusing as the reader may wonder who is who and what is going on.

Book one of the series is Loved By A Werewolf and this tells the story of Jex and Matt. Jex is a mob boss' son and he had been trained from day one by his father to always be prepared for the worst - even rape. Thing is, what no one knows until they read through the story, is that Jex has this fetish: he loves the thrill, the pain, the anxiety and the fear in a scene - any scene. The thought of rape thrills him. Does this make him sick? He does not know. What is for certain: the thought sends him to nirvana - until the fear of the reality of a kidnapping slaps him in the face and his best friend, Matt, gets in the middle of it all. This book introduces the reader to the horrors, the violence and the romance of a wolf claiming and protecting his mate to whatever cost. This one is a tad short, when it is really not. This is a fast paced and action/violence book that sets the pace for the other books to come.

Book two,Forever with my Werewolf, is a different story altogether. Thinking that this will begin where the first book ended is a wrong assumption. This is when the arc of the story actually begins. Where we see the band of young werewolves who are a family in fact and protect each other at all costs. Matt is a member of that family and his mate, Tim, had been his lover for some time. When Matt finally decides to reveal himself, Tim panics and flees despite being a huge werewolf genre fan. Reality, it seems, is not the same as when watching the man shift to wolf form on reel. His panic sends him straight into the arms of hunters. And this is where the real fun begins.

Book three is Seeking my Werewolf. This is the story of Craig and Phil: a werewolf and a hunter. When Tim had been rescued by the pack, Craig found himself caught and bound by the most dangerous hunter of them all: Phil. But their connection was instant and all-consuming and no matter how Phil tried to avoid it, he could not hurt the animal in his arms. Instead of killing him, Phil breaks the ultimate hunter rule and lets the monster go. The story of how these two manage to find each other once more and finally accept their mating is a wonderful read and probably the best of the three books so far. This book, for me, is where the story arc finally gets to gel in all the right ways where the previous two books failed. In this book, I made a conscious decision that I really wanted to read more into this series. Find out more about the mystery of the werewolves and their mates.

Romantic, this series is not. Erotic, violent, thrilling, this definitely is. Is there romance? Yes, but it is neither sappy nor cheesy. It is actually a scary thought to think of romance here. Especially when things get a bit too graphic that mental images turn to the manga drawings of blood, guts, gore and bodily fluids flying about in fights.

Looking forward for more of this intriguingly different werewolf story.

Growing up Jex was taught life lessons from his father that other boys never learned. As the son of a mob boss Jex was taught how to survive a kidnapping, among other things, which was coming in handy at the moment. Jex managed to get away from his assailants, but he knew it was only a matter of time before they caught him again.

Hiding in the thick foliage Jex realizes that someone or something else is hunting tonight. Whoever is out there appears to be protecting him though he can’t imagine why. Jex is about to be given the shock of a lifetime. Only time will tell if he can accept what’s right before his eyes.

Beware the woods on a moonlit night. A young man in dire trouble finds salvation when he’s Loved by a Werewolf. The fast paced, tense tale evolves into a sexy romance with a ‘to be continued’ ending. Jex is able to keep his wits and embrace an unbelievable future that most would probably reject. The surprise is worth the secrecy in Loved by a Werewolf. Looking forward to what happens next…

I could not get through the first chapter. Here's why. In the excerpt below, the main character thinks that being raped would not be a hardship because he's gay(!). No, I am not making this up.
Don’t think they won’t hurt you, boy, just because they are going to sell you back to me. There’s a lot of things you can do to a body that leaves them still looking fresh when you hand them back.
Thanks, Dad, for that lovely reminder.
At least with that one, Jex had to hold back a smile. His dad been talking about rape. He knew it because of the look in the old man’s eyes. It was odd, but Jex couldn’t help but want to laugh and tell his dad that it wouldn’t be as much of a hardship as he was hoping it would be. Jex had been openly—okay, only to himself—gay since he learnt that pulling on his dick actually gave him a jolt of pleasure.
I was done with the book (and the author) after reading this passage.

This was a really short read about friendship and love. The story opens as Jax was in the woods , held captive and awaiting for his captor's plans. Being in that situation , left him to think about his life particularly his mob father and his best friend Matt. Suddenly, he got rescued by some wolf and then there was a tearful reunion and some realization.

The author leave us with something to look forward in her next book so you what you can expect is not really a cliffhanger but mostly what will happen to Jax in a whole new life. I am not so sure though if ill pickup the next series as I am not personally fan of a series. The story is nice and sweet but It was too short. But if you are in the mood for a really short romantic paranormal read, you might enjoy it.

Pretty much crap. Had great potential and even some hinting and some major kink but the sex was a major let down. From the very beginning the story was just difficult to follow and completely uninteresting. The story would hint to interesting things happening but then nothing happened. Major bummer.
