"Gorgeous" is not the word I would have used. These sweaters are the usual serviceable shapeless easy to knit garments. They are good for new knitters because they are rectangles and boxes and don't look good on anyone.

Designed for a new or learning knitter, this book offers patterns that will guide you to success and you work. Sweaters, vests, and tops are listed and each pattern offers a colored photo along side the step-by-step instruction. Whether you like the color, you can choose your own and embellish your project as you please.

This book is not nearly as easy for beginning, netters as claimed. But, it does allow you to make some really pretty sweaters. So I gave it a few stars for that reason.

BOTTOM LINE: Excellent basic knitting book filled with very good, very easy patterns for both the new or the experienced knitter. Clear, complete instructions, decent photographs, it's another a good basic book from Lark to have in your knitting library. Sizings up to 49", all worked on fairly large needles (8, 9, 10 for adult patterns, 6 & 8 for childrens).
A goodly amount of care is taken with the beginning instructions, although it's recommended that you at least know how to knit before you begin one of the patterns. Most of the designs use square shapes, stockinette and/or garter stitch, and careful detail is made to the use of colors and embellishments, resulting in some rather nice finished products that appear to be very easy to make up. This is one of the nicer Lark Books I've seen, and a new knitter could do far worse than to invest in this as one of their first owned knitting books. Not five stars from me because it's not spiral bound, and I don't much enjoy using very large needles and somehow it seemed as though the designs I truly liked all used the 10 needles, which I simply won't work with. Still, for a beginning knitter or someone wanting a good basic design that works up fast, this is an excellent book.

Nothing in here that I would like to make (or wear) - boxy, shapeless, ugly...
