Most people don't see past Brooke Anne Kressler's Jovial Janitors sweatshirt and old sneakers. But even janitors dream of being Cinderella at the ball, and for one night with executive Morgan Carmichael, Brooke Anne lives her fairy tale until Morgan's ex shows up at the party. Brooke Anne makes a hasty exit from the Christmas ball, leaving her dreamsand her shoesbehind.
Morgan may not know much about shoes, but he does know he can't stop thinking about Brooke Anne. So he decides to play Prince Charming and return her heels. But Brooke seems to have transformed from Cinderella into Scrooge overnight. It's going to take a lot more than a pair of shoes to convince her that at Christmas, anything is possibleeven happily ever after.
Unfortunately Fairytale Christmas was not a very good book. I liked the idea of a modern Cinderella with a twist, but it was really not the best. Brooke Anne doesn't have a lot of money, but she owns her own cleaning company. She dated one guy once whom she thought she would marry only to have him dump her for some other girl. So of course all men cannot be trusted now...which yes I have read other books with this same basic plot, but Brooke Anne was so annoying! She was always fantasizing about what it would be like to be swept off her feet, but I found the fantasies annoying. She also goes on and on about stupid things and I just wanted to be like stop! Either do something or don't, but please stop talking about it!
Morgan is a richer guy and he invited Brooke Anne to his company Christmas party when his date cancels last minute. Of course they fall for each other until some misunderstandings make Brooke Anne run out without saying goodbye. Morgan then tries to track her down however he can, but Brooke Anne is too insecure and focused on money that she tries to stay away. She keeps focusing on how he has money and she doesn't which is a bit ridiculous. I mean he never was really money focused around her...I just didn't get it.
The other main issue with the book, besides Brooke Anne annoying me, was I didn't see any chemistry between the characters. I am not sure why Brooke Anne and Morgan like each other. I have no idea why he tried to track her down so much. I just didn't see it. Even at the end I didn't see the attraction between them. Not very good. I didn't really care about either character either, and they seemed very one dimensional and just....I just didn't like most things about this story.
It started strong, but it went downhill. They both talked so much about why they wouldn't work together that they convinced me that they shouldn't be. I wasn't even rooting for them by the end.
3 1/2 Stars ~ I won't give a story line description as the book synopsis from the publisher does a great job of summing it up. I can easily picture this as a chick flick; perhaps with Hilary Duff as Brooke.
Both Brooke and Morgan have their hangups that rear up every time it seems that they're finally clicking. Brooke had been brutally dumped by a man she thought was on the verge of proposing, which shattered her trust in love. Morgan, the result of a very cold upbringing, had problems communicating his emotions and wanted very much to be able to just give Brooke a hug and share every detail of his life with her. The secondary characters help to add layers to Brooke and Morgan by showing up their vulnerabilities and making their strengths shine. Ms. Galloway's debut is a delightful Cinderella story that enchanted me for several pleasurable hours.
The book was great.... a basic Cinderella Story with a twist. Brooke Anne is a cleaner she happened to clean the office of Morgan one night. She over hears him getting upset b/c his ex-girlfriend is not going to go to an important event with him. this is what leads to a very bumpy road in the book. But it was such a great read. It had tons of angst and tons of sweetness as well. Morgan was a H who tried to be a better man but what he needed was the help of a good woman. I do not want to give away the story but you will really enjoy the story especially the ending. I could not help but chuckle at the last letter. Highly recommend this book.
2.5 stars -- this book just wasn't for me. I don't know what to say that wouldn't disparage the author or the book, which isn't really fair if it's more a personal taste thing, kwim?? It just felt cheesy to me. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's like those made for tv Christmas movies...it just seems to be missing quality or something. And listening to Brooke Anne daydream was too much for me...I don't even know why, but it made me so....on edge? Crap, this is such a terrible review. I did think Brooke Anne was pretty sweet and adorable quite a bit, and Morgan was too...it just didn't have enough of what I love for me. *shrugs*
I could not wait for this book to end. Maybe it would speak to someone freshly broken up. These people barely knew each other and they were declaring their love and future! I just found the plot unbelievable. It had potential, but fell through the cracks.
The Fairytale Christmas was a VERY quick read. I actually was surprised when I got to the ending because it all happened so fast. I enjoyed the story line but felt like it needed a bit more at the end. Brooke Ann owns a cleaning company and while she's cleaning in an office one night she hears Morgan Carmichael on the phone arguing about a canceled date. While venting to her he finds out that she can dance and so he offers to pay her to come with him as a date. He gives her money to buy appropriate attire and they set a time to meet. When Brooke Ann gets to the party she isn't at all what Morgan remembers. She is stunning. As the night goes on they both feel this connection and pull towards eachother. Then Morgan's Ex shows up while they are having dinner and he goes to speak with her. Brooke Ann feels out of place. She leaves without telling Morgan and even leaves her shoes behind. When Morgan gets back to the table and she gone but her shoes are there. Morgan must find Brooke Ann with little to go on. Taking the shoes he sets out to find his Cinderella.
Lovely, sweet Cinderella romance about a janitorial service owner and a hotel corporation executive. He asks her out to a required performance Christmas party with dancing when his date cancels at the last minute, because she can do ballroom dancing. They have a great time until the date who canceled on him shows up anyway and the heroine misunderstands and runs out, leaving her expensive shoes behind. So he spends a few weeks looking for her, while they exchange notes. It's a very real-life dating story with hesitation and insecurity and one step forward, next step back. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Fairytale Christmas by Shelley Galloway is your modern Cinderella story but with a twist; a janitor and a hotel executive. The author captured the vulnerabilities of each character which did it a favor as it made the story more exciting. I felt like I knew the characters. Although in my opinion, it is a story that would have been better written if it was a short story. I'm glad that I finished it even though it took me a while.
This was a predictable and slightly silly Christmas romance and I loved it; it was exactly what I was expecting. Or maybe it was just so much better than the previous book I read. Brooke Anne, the owner of a cleaning company, agrees to accompany Morgan to a holiday party, and they end up falling for each other. She has to put aside her insecurities and he has to learn to communicate better, but of course they do and end up falling in love and getting married. I wanted to tell her that she needed to quit being so whiny and needy, but other than that I enjoyed this book. I give it a B-.

This didn't feel like a fairytale romance at all. The majority of this book is constant miscommunication from his side and insecurity on her side. There are a few cute moments between Brooke and Morgan but they're so minimal compared to the rest of the angst. The big finale contains declarations of love and proposals. I'd honestly have preferred they go their separate ways. None of it felt genuine and it certainly didn't feel like a fairytale ending.
This was a quick, enjoyable romance. Nothing unpredictable--it followed the standard romance pattern of star-crossed strangers from two different worlds...can they make it work? Yes! No! Wait, yes! A fun, fluffy read. Can't be serious all the time, now, can we?! :)
Fun, frothy play on Cinderella story. She owns a cleaning company and loves to dance. He's on the corporate ladder, testing products to place in hotels. He needs a date for the formal company Christmas ball. Gown, shoes, lost girl-- all there, with an entertaining supporting cast.
