Como este livro diz, o abraço perfeito está mesmo debaixo do teu nariz!
Great bedtime book to read to a small child. This book would be especially helpful to a small child who is going through a through a hard time. I suggested this book to a friend who has a son trying to come to terms with his grandmother passing away; he told me this book was both reassuring and created a space where they could talk about the situation.
Average prose and cute illustrations. I don't love the ending when, after our darling panda protagonist has passed up herds and flocks and swarms of other animals as not-quite-right for hugging, that the elusive perfect hug is shown to be between two identical pandas.
There's nothing really wrong with this book, I'm just kind of baffled it got written. I mean, when it was pitched, did the editor really think, "Wow! A RHYMING LIST book about HUGS! There's NONE of those out there!"
It's cute, the illustrations are colorful and fun, but it seems like there ought to be more than one type of perfect hug! The same child (often) has wiggly or giggly or tickly days, so why rule those out? And why oh why have the perfect hug 'from you' be another nearly clone looking panda. Come on now.
(Someone else pointed out the grizzly hug and grin and bear it is also a bit iffy. I admit I didn't catch it on my read, but they're right about do we want to tell kids to take physical contact that makes them uncomfortable. I'd be tempted to skip that page in storytime.)
This book should be in the reference section because I haven't seen any in there that have to do with hugs. There are all kinds of hugs available for a little panda but none are quite right.
What exactly is the "perfect" hug? Is there such a thing at all? These sorts of existential questions are asked and answered in this book. Sort of. Not really. Its mostly about how various animals might hug.
Oh, plus its a book for babies and toddlers so I don't really think it matters.
Adorable! Panda gets hugs from a bunch of other animals, trying to find one that's just right. The illustrations are beautifully done--bright and colorful and super cute--and the rhymes are fun. Even the paper this book is printed on has a really nice feel to it--much heavier than in most picture books. Definitely a hit.
Hug storytime would be great! The only thing about this book is that I can't tell if a hug is perfect because he was hugging back or if he was hugging his own kind (two pandas together at the end). That is not a message that I want to reinforce to anyone. But the book is cute so I will assume good faith and just hope.
I thought this book was super adorable because I found that it was interesting to show children that not just people can give hugs animals can too. It just shows children how other living things can give hugs too. I enjoyed the book very much and it showed a good imagination for children. The way the book portrays the story and shows the hugs is so adorable. I loved it!!
I think it is an ADORABLE book! I was actually quite surprised by how many negative reviews it actually received. I like that it's showing that every animal, bug, and creature are just doing there own way of showing love.
A cute book about a panda bear's journey in finding that one perfect hug. He hugged many animals, but at the end, a perfect hug is a hug you can a hug back.
Panda is on the hunt for the perfect hug. Panda comes across hugs in all shapes and sizes, some tall some small, some for wrigglers and some for gigglers. Panda searches the seas to the milky way and discovers there is a hug out there for everyone.
There are a few half rhymes to be found in this story.
Overall this is a lovely gentle story with equally lovely illustrations. One thing I really enjoyed was how the text was brought into the illustrations (the word small was small and big was BIG). It’s a nice book to read in a quiet moment and have a cuddle!
I loved the opening of this book. Very well written, sets the tone and the problem of the character right away. Loved the last page as well.
But I wish there was more consistency in the rhyming throughout the book. Also, the part about space and the milky was a bit jarring to me, because it seemed like the book was focused on different animals.
But still a lovely book that children will enjoy. The illustrations are wonderful as well.
This s a solid 3 stars for me. It is all gooey and sappy and squishy (and I am not sure it is in a good way!) I am not a hugger! I side hug for people I really like and family might get full hugs! Cute to read to your 3 year old but other than that it give me a cavity from the 'sweetness'
Panda is on the hunt for the perfect hug. Join him on this rollicking search, set in verse. It's all completely silly, a little over-the-top, and possibly confusing for little ones, but it's all in fun and it ends well.
This is a cute huggy, snuggly sort of book for parents and young children (toddlers, preschoolers) to read together. The illustrations are very cute. Not entirely convinced by the ending. Kids enjoyed the book.
This book seems to work. Good rhyme structure. Nice photos. Cute concept. Fun details. And I just couldn't get it to land. I read it at a couple of storytimes and it never really clicked for the audiences. Nice book, but I won't use it again at storytime.
We have borrowed this book a few times from the library and my daughters love it! We love doing all the different kinds of hugs (wriggly, big, tickly, etc.). "The Perfect Hug" is the perfect bed-time story!
