Many poetic works can inspire, but few, like this one, have the power to change your life. These verses rank with the greatest mystical poetry of all time: the works of St. John of the Cross, Rumi, Kabir, Mirabai, and Omar Khayyam. In this book Paramhansa Yogananda—the great master of yoga and author of the classic Autobiography of a Yogi—shares his exquisitely beautiful thoughts and words filled with longing for the divine. Yogananda was not only a spiritual master, but a master poet, whose poems revealed the hidden divine presence behind even everyday things. Each of these prayer-poems has been spiritualized by this great man of God. Open this book, pick a poem at random and read it. Mentally repeat whatever phrase appeals to you. Within a short time, you will see your consciousness transformed. This book has the power to rapidly accelerate your spiritual growth, and provides hundreds of delightful ways for you to begin your own conversation with God. This wonderful collection includes: Sacred demands to the Infinite Prayers of devotion Chants and poems Invocations to great world teachers How to see this world as a dream Prayer-demands for: Devotion, Illumination and Bliss Wisdom, Prosperity and Balance Health, Guidance and Discipline Calmness and Overcoming Fears Divine Love . . . and much more.
Paramahansa Yogananda (Bengali: পরমহংস যোগানন্দ Pôromohôngsho Joganondo, Sanskrit: परमहंस योगानंद Paramahaṃsa Yogānaṃda), born Mukunda Lal Ghosh (Bengali: মুকুন্দ লাল ঘোষ Mukundo Lal Ghosh), was an Indian yogi and guru who introduced many westerners to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga through his book, Autobiography of a Yogi.
"Whispers from Eternity" moved me deeply. Whenever spiritual teachers have the privilege of helping others to gain Spiritual Enlightenment:
* Whether Traditional Enlightenment (such as Yogananda attained)... * Or Age of Awakening Enlightenment (which has become available to humanity only since the Shift on Dec. 21, 2012)... * Incidentally, according to my research, Age of Awakening Enlightenment is the more popular experience now.
I am inclined to listen most attentively to those who whisper, who teach, whose words suggest they know a great deal about how to listen.
Whichever form of Spiritual Enlightenment you desire -- or have attained -- I think you'll recognize a true friend, and magnificent teacher, in Paramahansa Yogananda.
Just, wow. What a privilege it is to hold this book in my hands. Paramahansa Yogananda truly has me at a loss for words. No review could ever do justice to his work, but I’ll try my best to convince you to dive into it. Whispers from Eternity is a collection of captivating prayers which feel more like poems because of how absolutely sublime they are. Each prayer feels like the most comforting, reassuring hug you could possibly imagine. Each line draws you closer and closer to the Divine. The whole book is imbued with contagious devotion, passionate faith, and unconditional love. The radiance of Paramahansa Yogananda’s soul shines through every single page, illuminating the reader one word at a time. This spiritual masterpiece has had me crying, smiling, staring off into space, and writing little ‘thank you’ and ‘I love you’ notes in the margins. I will be forever grateful to the Supreme Swan (that is the meaning of the word ‘Paramahansa’) who wrote it.
My intention was to read the poems of this book little by little savoring one each day but I often found a trance like meditative state that I just couldn't put Whispers From Eternity down. Paramahansa Yogananda the blessed teacher has brought many insights into my life through Autobiography of a Yogi and The Yoga of Jesus and I wasn't going to miss this work of his poetry. It certainly didn't disappoint. I will continue to revisit these gems the majority of which are very short but so beautifully contemplative.
This poetry is out there, like in a galaxy far far away. It deals plenty with my favored topics of love & death. Timeless & timely, it will always pull me back with it's extravagant stanzas rife with revolution of the spiritual variety.
This is a good Spiritual book, prayers that include all religions, as serving one God (he/she) for the universe, and is good as meditation and prayer, as I used it once a day.
Jai Guru 🤍 Guruji has blessed us all with his service love devotion and words. this book heralds all of God’s children home, through Master Paramahansa Yogananda
I listened to the Audible book, read by Swami Kriyananda (Donald Walters). I enjoyed Yogananda's devotional thoughts, but poetry is not his strong suite ;). A little over the top in some verses, but overall worthwhile.
